  1. Review titled Disappointing

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Carol - Posted on 19 October 2024

My 89yr old mother was immobile with a plaster cast on her leg in respiratory ward at the Pruh then went onto a rehabilitation ward in Orpington Hospital. She was looked after well as in she was fed and watered regularly and some nurses showed empathy and warmth but she was left many times sitting in dripping wet pads which resulted in her clothes being left in a bag in her locker stinking of urine. Her teeth, in her pot of cleaning fluid on her table went missing overnight with her cleaning tablets??? Nobody knows where they went and I’m still waiting to hear from Pals. Not only did she have trouble eating but she was and still is embarrassed and upset without them…total lack of dignity. Apparently clothes and teeth always go missing according to Pals, some answer! No explanation where her nightdresses kept disappearing either, after 5 going missing I gave up and mum sat in hospital gowns. Her discharge was arranged abysmally, I particularly asked to be given plenty of notice before her being discharged to her home where a hospital bed had been delivered as she lives on her own with no family living nearby I would have to arrange when I could be there for her. So I got a call at work at 1.15 saying mum was waiting for transport! Sending an immobile 89yr old with cognitive impairment to an empty house with no food or heating arranged and nobody to be there for her is disgraceful! My poor mum ☹️ I’ve worked in nursing for the nhs over 20yrs and to say I’m disappointed is an understatement.

Back again in ophthalmology for follow up . Waiting so far 2 hours, no change in this department. Standstill except for nurses walking up and down corridor. Seems nothing to do. NHS needs sorting not money but efficient.

  3. Review titled Warm welcome

A friendly greeting on arrival, even though I was a bit late, and was seen quickly. The receptionist was very kind to all the patients arriving after me, and even when answering the phone.

I was seen yesterday for a colopscopy and the nurses and doctor were so professional, kind and caring. The receptionist was welcoming and I was made to feel human not just another patient.

  5. Review titled Indifference

by Chantale - Posted on 29 July 2024

Visited a relative on Quebec Ward rang the bell several times was ignored despite there were two members of staff at the water fountain who I could see and no one made an effort to open the door. It was let in by a laundry porter. Walked straight by them, no one on the nurses’ station. Found my cousin’s location by myself. My cousin was due to be transferred, I witnessed an old lady in tears sitting in a chair since the morning waiting for her transport. Her bed was stripped so she was stranded in a bed. It was 4 pm in the afternoon. She was begging staff to check status of her transport. She was very distressed. She was given the same « sorry love nothing we can do ». It was cruel and inhumane to let such an old lady to be left in such a state. We were given the impression that the transport was imminent but we waited all day until 19.45 but no transport has shown. I had to leave at 6.30pm, the old lady was still waiting. Why oh why do we put our old people through ordeal. It the staff indifference and total lack of humanity that I resented. I hope never to have to set foot in that hospital again.

  6. Review titled Colposcopy appointment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by N/a - Posted on 26 June 2024

I’m 25 and this is the first colposcopy I’ve had. I was very nervous going in but the staff made me feel so at ease. The receptionist (I didn’t catch her name) was so lovely. The doctors and nurses (I can’t include names but my app was 26 June at 9:50 so I hope they can see this) really put me at. They explained everything to me clearly. When I said I was squeamish and didn’t want to see the monitor they made sure to ask me questions and take my mind off things. It was like being with my mum and aunts and I’m very grateful to have such wonderful support. They Al are a real testament to the NHS xx

  8. Review titled Wonderful caring team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Cindy - Posted on 16 May 2024

I’ve had 2 appointments recently in the colposcopy department and both times the staff were wonderful. The receptionist welcomed me with a big smile (putting me immediately at ease) and this warmth was carried through by the nurses and consultant. The nurses were absolutely lovely, chatting to me to take my mind off the treatment. Similarly the consultants took the time to explain everything in detail and answer my questions. It really made me proud of the NHS and I would like to thank Orpington Colposcopy - this is how the NHS should be! Thank you

  9. Review titled Very Professional & Caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Les Laye - Posted on 08 May 2024

I had to have an operation on my hand and was concerned / worried about this, from the staff on the door right through the ward, anaesthetist, surgeon, recovery, the ward again and back out the door everybody was so professional. This made it a very comforting experience.
