  1. Review titled Long wait for scan results

    by betanz93 - Posted on 30 November 2022

I had an appointment booked 12:20 at Peterborough ACU to find out results of a scan that needed looking at by the spinal centre at Cambridge. I waited 6 hours to see someone, to then be told that the results weren't back and they they didn't think the locum consultant could get access. I was told to wait and they will ring Cambridge. 1 hour later I was still waiting - told I would just have to wait. I left as I had been there over 7 hours. It cost me £9 in parking just to sit there all day. I have rung every day since for results and been told someone will ring me back. It is now Monday evening and no return call. It is awful follow up care, and totally not acceptable. It felt more like a cattle market than a clinic !!!

  2. Review titled Thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

The ladies in both delivery suite & transitional care are beyond fabulous! I was induced on a Tuesday and stayed until Friday that week. All staff while being induced were lovely, kind and understanding. Explaining everything so I was comfortable. A special thanks to the midwives for safe arrival of my baby girl. Being moved to transitional care, I was looked after so well, even my partner too. The ladies took their time to speak to me, to get to know us as a new family. My wishes to try and breastfeed were helped by Breastfeeding lady who was there whenever I needed help (day or night) to learn how to latch on. The staff were there when I found it tough being in hospital and having no sleep after shock of quick labour. She was a god send! Nothing was too much trouble. It was my partners 40th while we were in the ward and the lovely nurses bought a slice of cake & sang happy birthday to him. These little things make a stressful time, so much more manageable. I felt in safe hands always- not matter what time of day/night. Considering you hear about the shortages of maternity staff (please don’t get me wrong you can see yourself) but not one person didn’t have time for any of the ladies on my ward. A massive thank you for all you do, you are little angels in disguise & the backbone of NHS. I will be eternally grateful!

I recently dislocated my shoulder and was taken to Peterborough Hospital. From the lady on reception, to the nurses, doctors and radiology department all the staff were caring, extremely friendly and simply fantastic. I couldn’t thank or recommend them enough. Thank you!

  4. Review titled Great staff

Rated 1 star out of 5

The staff are lovely but how they manage to work under such ridiculous circumstances is a mystery, this system is laughable, I lost count how many times we were called, poked and ordered to various waiting areas. It was appendicitis, a very common condition, it took hours and hours, I think 19 hours to diagnose and a further 40 to operate.

  5. Review titled The best!!

Having spent 6 day’s recently in the system at Peterborough general I have been majorly impressed, it’s clear pressure of work is in place over very long shift patterns, my thoughts go to those in urgent treatment centre, the Surgery team and wards a4 & a2 with so many times observed people going above and beyond because they care. I can only thank you all from the bottom of my heart for taking time to look after me throughout

Peterborough city hospital are working themselves so hard with all the pressure on them all. It’s quicker to go to the hospital than into your surgery for appointment face to face. So don’t knock the nhs they are all doing amazing job.

  7. Review titled Great hospital care, issues with discharge arrangements

by Brenhell - Posted on 17 October 2022

My mother had been in hospital for 7 weeks after emergency surgery, and the care she received was great. The staff were pleasant and helpful, and she has recovered well despite some medical setbacks. The main concern was the discharge arrangements. We expected here to have a period in reablement care, and we were told this was happening at breakfast time. By lunchtime, the plans, such as they were, had changed and she was sent home. My elderly father, not well himself, was worried as arrangements were not in place for my mum to wash or to have her dressing changed. She is still dizzy, and due to his hernia he cannot lift or physically help her. The care providers insisted, evidently on the basis of cost, that she no longer qualified for reablement care. We could of course have this option if we paid for it. They tried to get us to take her home with an open abdominal wound, in a small 2 door car. The medical staff were evidently overruled by the cash guardians. Yet to see if the promised district nurses have appeared. It pretty much felt that the care system was disorganised, and not working in tandem with the hospital. I repeat, the hospital is great and the staff wonderful.

  10. Review titled Awful disorganised hospital

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Karen - Posted on 07 December 2022

my 85yr old relative who is terminally ill with heart &renal failure, had chest pains &was admitted to a&e. It turned out to be a mild heart attack. At 9.30pm they were discharged from a&e as there wasn't any beds. They were 25 miles away from home with no transport, we live200 miles away. They had no choice but to pay £50 for a taxi home. They had chest pains again& they spent is 8hrs in a ambulance only getting out to change ambulances when the crew went off duty. They finally got into A&E&spent the day in the corridor with a nurse who wasn't really interested in her patients. Again at 6.30pm they were discharged due to lack of beds, they did offer them a chair to sleep in but they declined. This time they insisted that they get them transport home which they finally arranged after lots of phone calls. My relative saw the Nepholigist on the 20th October, they mentioned some tablets they could take for high Potassium levels but we are still waiting for the letter 7 weeks later. That's 7 weeks without the medication. I have phoned twice &each time they say they will get the consultant to do it & they don't. It's the same with Cardiology,my relatives GP asked for advice on medication that is making their kidney failure worse& despite asking again the letter is still not here. The hospital told me that they had discharged my relative from Cardiology, why when NICE guidelines say they should be seen at least every six months. This is neglect of a terminally ill woman. I'm sure thier age comes into it &that's why they are treating them in an appalling way, you would get fined if you treated an animal like this. I intend to sue Peterborough Hospital when my my relative pases away for neglect & not giving them the care they deserve.
