Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Michelle Stapleton - Posted on 18 November 2023
Our experience of A&E majors was very good. Staff are friendly, caring, approachable and very professional. Lots of volunteers that also made the experience a much better one in the circumstances. Everyone doing their best to ensure both patient and relative care is 100%

Review titled Received great care during autistic meltdown
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 03 November 2023
My 10 year-old child had an autistic meltdown in the middle of the fracture clinic waiting room. Staff were understanding and compassionate. They found a room for us to use while it passed, and were able to complete the treatment swiftly after (repotting), offering to do so in the same room. It's always tricky for my child when they have a meltdown in public - afterwards they are embarrassed. Being able to be in a room away from everyone really helped. Thank you so much.

Review titled Never seen A and E like it

Virtually no doctors. Went with my little boy who had breathing difficulties and not triaged within 45 minutes. We sat in a waiting room from 11:30pm to 5:30am. We did get steroids from a nurse, but communication for waiting times was not great. Seeing a doctor to be discharged was impossible and then you are told you have to sign a form to leave against medical advice and this may even trigger a concern for neglect. This approach to parents is very poor, we wouldn't be there if we weren't concerned. A very, very different experience to the last time we had to visit months back.

Review titled Disappointed with service.

Attended Stamford hospital for prostate biopsy 23-11-2023,was told results would be three weeks ,eight weeks later no results available despite calling on numerous occasions I am repeatedly told there is a backlog, how can a wait of eight weeks be acceptable, bearing in mind this was a cancer test, this leaves me frustrated and disappointed with PCH.

Review titled Excellent care and treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by M Cox - Posted on 05 November 2023
Had the need to take my husband to the hospital today (Sunday) to be seen in the Urgent Treatment Centre. From arrival at reception to the final discharge some 6 hours later, we were treated with care, compassion and understanding. All of the staff in the Urgent treatment Centre went above and beyond with their commitment to care. Many thanks to everyone at the hospital for your dedication.

Had surgery today and the team who looked after me pre surgery and post surgery were amazing. They made sure I was comfortable with my pain and were friendly and professional. Can’t praise them enough.

Review titled Wonderfully Caring Staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Malcolm Ward - Posted on 19 October 2023
I had a brief stay in Peterborough City Hospital, following surgery on my ankle. The nurse who looked after me in the recovery room was very attentive, giving me a heater to warm me and bringing me a much-appreciated drink and sandwich, after nearly 12 hours of nil by mouth. When I was taken up to the Ward, I continued to receive outstanding care. Everyone from the consultant to the cleaner was cheerful, focussed and attentive. The Physiotherapists quickly assessed my needs and supervised my initial attempts to walk with crutches. They gave me the confidence to manage on my own. I am also aware that there are many staff behind the scenes, such as the catering team, whose work was essential to my recovery and recuperation. I subsequently spent several hours in the Discharge Suite, where I was welcomed and made comfortable. It was a busy day (aren’t they all?) with several patients having to wait for discharge papers and medication. I was privileged to witness the amazing nurses dealing calmly with one angry and impatient person, whilst simultaneously giving the most compassionate and attentive support to a frightened and confused patient. They are angels! Peterborough Hospital staff are doing an amazing job!

Review titled Excellent hospital but just one....
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Excellent hospital but just one small thing. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, everything is good 👍 But the only recommendation I would make....to make sure patients are aware of the procedure times, this can easily be communicated in the letter the hospital sends the patient informing them of the procedure in the first instance. If this information cannot be know, then a "please allow up to two hours for your procedure" could be used. This is a very useful tool, I use it to let my clients know that training may take up to 6 hours to complete so please allow adequate time. If patients are informed beforehand the length of time needed then they can make informed decisions xx

Review titled Really cared for
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Kathy M - Posted on 08 September 2023
I attended outpatients to see my specialist. The ladies on reception were very friendly, helpful, smiley & professional. The nurse who did my initial checks was so kind, friendly & efficient and kept me up to date with where I was in the queue (which wasn't long) and my specialist was charming & very caring, explaining everything to me with understanding and good humour. The whole appointment was a pleasure. Thank you everyone.
