  1. Review titled Wonderfully Caring Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Malcolm Ward - Posted on 19 October 2023

I had a brief stay in Peterborough City Hospital, following surgery on my ankle. The nurse who looked after me in the recovery room was very attentive, giving me a heater to warm me and bringing me a much-appreciated drink and sandwich, after nearly 12 hours of nil by mouth. When I was taken up to the Ward, I continued to receive outstanding care. Everyone from the consultant to the cleaner was cheerful, focussed and attentive. The Physiotherapists quickly assessed my needs and supervised my initial attempts to walk with crutches. They gave me the confidence to manage on my own. I am also aware that there are many staff behind the scenes, such as the catering team, whose work was essential to my recovery and recuperation. I subsequently spent several hours in the Discharge Suite, where I was welcomed and made comfortable. It was a busy day (aren’t they all?) with several patients having to wait for discharge papers and medication. I was privileged to witness the amazing nurses dealing calmly with one angry and impatient person, whilst simultaneously giving the most compassionate and attentive support to a frightened and confused patient. They are angels! Peterborough Hospital staff are doing an amazing job!

  2. Review titled Excellent hospital but just one....

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Excellent hospital but just one small thing. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, everything is good 👍 But the only recommendation I would make....to make sure patients are aware of the procedure times, this can easily be communicated in the letter the hospital sends the patient informing them of the procedure in the first instance. If this information cannot be know, then a "please allow up to two hours for your procedure" could be used. This is a very useful tool, I use it to let my clients know that training may take up to 6 hours to complete so please allow adequate time. If patients are informed beforehand the length of time needed then they can make informed decisions xx

  3. Review titled Really cared for

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended outpatients to see my specialist. The ladies on reception were very friendly, helpful, smiley & professional. The nurse who did my initial checks was so kind, friendly & efficient and kept me up to date with where I was in the queue (which wasn't long) and my specialist was charming & very caring, explaining everything to me with understanding and good humour. The whole appointment was a pleasure. Thank you everyone.

  4. Review titled Failed two of my family members

Rated 1 star out of 5

Do not trust this hospital. Someone once told me that if you go into Peterborough Hospital and you're very poorly, you're unlikely to come out. All staff on b7 should not be trusted, absolutely disgusting and disgraceful care given to my nan after she had a stroke - disregarding her like she wasn't worth their care or empathy. My experience with peterborough hospital has left me with no trust or faith in the NHS.

Staff at check in desk extremely rude and discussing patients in front of other no sense of data protection. Midwife discussing patients details in front of others then discussing myself while I was in ear shot as a nurse this is not professional

Broke my wrist and needed a plate and screws fitting. This was done in super quick time by a lovely team who were very professional and caring. I never had to wait any length of time at any appointment and I’m so grateful for the wonderful care I’ve received.

  7. Review titled Feedback for the CCU team at Peterborough Hospital.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Neil B - Posted on 23 August 2023

To put some context around our family situation, I'm in Australia and Mum who is 88yrs old, has been admitted to CCU for observations, so it's a stressful situation for the family. I called and explained where we live and the nurse had no issue taking a phone to Mum so I could chat, which was a great relief for me and made her feel much happier. The staff have since been amazing getting Mum's iPad connected to the WiFi and had a FaceTime chat with her today and she was in tears and simply couldn't stop crying. Why was she upset??? The reason is, she has received such amazing care in Peterborough Hospital (CCU) and says she has never been looked after so well in her lifetime. Mum reports everyone has been completely amazing and have made her feel so very special. I can tell you, Mum is quite specific about her food and what she expects, yet she reports the food has been really nice, in fact she's always looking forward to the next meal, so much so, I think you're going to have a difficult time getting her to leave. So despite the fact you've all made my Mum cry I want to say, from the bottom of our hearts, from all the family..... A huge thank you to everyone at Peterborough Hospital for doing such an amazing job looking after Mum and making her better. Words cannot fully express how grateful we all are.

  8. Review titled Brilliant hospital and staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret Judson - Posted on 27 August 2023

On Saturday 12th August I was visiting the Oncology Dept for the removal of my chemo pump, when I collapsed in the hospital car park. My Sister, Liz, was cool, calm and collected and got me aid. I was rushed into Rhesus. No BP but eventually they got it at 37/19… and it was due to their persistence and care, I was then admitted to the Critical Care ward and had the necessary treatment for a few days. I was then moved to the Oncology Ward where I was discharged on Saturday evening on 19th August. I would like you to pass on my heartfelt gratitude and my families for all the help and treatment I received from your amazing staff on all wards. Your hospital is great and your staff wonderful, skilled and kind. I am at home now, resting for the next bout of chemo at Peterborough Hospital. Thank you from all my heart. Margaret Judson

Had an appointment at the General Cardiology unit today. Didn't wait too long, and the doctor was so nice, he really put me at ease. Thank you.

  10. Review titled Day surgery unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Stacy Grimmer - Posted on 27 August 2023

I came in for gallbladder removal and felt so cared for and well looked after, every single person I came across in my 6 hours in hospital were so kind and caring and felt extremely lucky after having my surgery cancelled the previous month due to strikes , to then have the surgery on another day of strikes. Thank you so much.
