  1. Review titled Feedback for the CCU team at Peterborough Hospital.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Neil B - Posted on 23 August 2023

To put some context around our family situation, I'm in Australia and Mum who is 88yrs old, has been admitted to CCU for observations, so it's a stressful situation for the family. I called and explained where we live and the nurse had no issue taking a phone to Mum so I could chat, which was a great relief for me and made her feel much happier. The staff have since been amazing getting Mum's iPad connected to the WiFi and had a FaceTime chat with her today and she was in tears and simply couldn't stop crying. Why was she upset??? The reason is, she has received such amazing care in Peterborough Hospital (CCU) and says she has never been looked after so well in her lifetime. Mum reports everyone has been completely amazing and have made her feel so very special. I can tell you, Mum is quite specific about her food and what she expects, yet she reports the food has been really nice, in fact she's always looking forward to the next meal, so much so, I think you're going to have a difficult time getting her to leave. So despite the fact you've all made my Mum cry I want to say, from the bottom of our hearts, from all the family..... A huge thank you to everyone at Peterborough Hospital for doing such an amazing job looking after Mum and making her better. Words cannot fully express how grateful we all are.

  2. Review titled Brilliant hospital and staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret Judson - Posted on 27 August 2023

On Saturday 12th August I was visiting the Oncology Dept for the removal of my chemo pump, when I collapsed in the hospital car park. My Sister, Liz, was cool, calm and collected and got me aid. I was rushed into Rhesus. No BP but eventually they got it at 37/19… and it was due to their persistence and care, I was then admitted to the Critical Care ward and had the necessary treatment for a few days. I was then moved to the Oncology Ward where I was discharged on Saturday evening on 19th August. I would like you to pass on my heartfelt gratitude and my families for all the help and treatment I received from your amazing staff on all wards. Your hospital is great and your staff wonderful, skilled and kind. I am at home now, resting for the next bout of chemo at Peterborough Hospital. Thank you from all my heart. Margaret Judson

Had an appointment at the General Cardiology unit today. Didn't wait too long, and the doctor was so nice, he really put me at ease. Thank you.

  4. Review titled Day surgery unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I came in for gallbladder removal and felt so cared for and well looked after, every single person I came across in my 6 hours in hospital were so kind and caring and felt extremely lucky after having my surgery cancelled the previous month due to strikes , to then have the surgery on another day of strikes. Thank you so much.

  5. Review titled Staff are efficient and so sympathetic and empathetic

I had a colonoscopy yesterday and, looking back, I realise how the staff (all of them) are there to make the experience as stress free as possible. They certainly did for me. Thank you.

  6. Review titled Positive experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Thank you to the midwife and student midwife who helped deliver my baby in July. I had the most amazing water birth and thanks to the calm, professional and friendly manner of the ladies I will always have a smile on my face in memory of a fab birth. They were there for me from the minute I phoned in to the minute they went off shift 9hrs after delivery. Even the small things were no trouble to them, I am forever grateful. They made myself and my husband feel relaxed and comfortable, the fairy lights, projectors and soothing music were so lovely, the ladies thought of everything to make my experience a positive one. We could tell they both genuinely loved their job and it wasn't actually a job to them due to their passion for midwifery....thank you ladies :)

  7. Review titled Terrible service. Disgusting

Rated 1 star out of 5

Waited 3 years for my operation. Which has now been cancelled 4 times in 2 months with just 24 hours notice im self employed and lost 4 days pay.. absolutely disgusting and a total let down NHS and its management need to be sacked. How can they act in this manner and think its fine ... any excuse to cancel. Covid, doctors strike too hot. Too cold they will use I really give up. Next appt date given is another 2 months away . Thank you NHS .. you really are losing any support ypu had from the general public

Reception: friendly and helpful Clinic: For a regular clinic, which can have the feel of a production line at times, all staff were welcoming, efficient and informative. I felt relaxed in their clinic. Thanks.

  9. Review titled Poor communication

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 08 June 2023

At our 20 week scan we were told we were having a girl, at a 35 week scan it was confirmed to actually be a boy. Then due to reduced moves had extra growth scans. Went for a 40 week growth scan the day before due date, arrived and was told my appointment had been cancelled 2 week’s previously but nobody had informed me of this, so waited for 20 minutes to be told this. On 3rd May went in as referred by midwife for pre-eclampsia, had bloods taken at 3pm, then was told they would take 2 hours to come back, doctor wanted us to wait at the hospital just incase. So we waited, it got to 6:30pm and we’d heard nothing, the Antenatal department had closed and nobody had told me that i had to go to the maternity triage. I then waited there for a further 2 hours, before asking reception why I wasn’t able to get my blood results back, was rudely told as needed a bed, even though my results had been waiting there now almost 3 hours at this point. Within 5 minutes I was called by a nurse, who didn’t take me into a room just down a hallway full of other patients (didn’t feel very professional or private) to be told nothing was wrong and that I could’ve gone home hours ago. The level of communication to patients within this department is absolutely shocking, to the point where I no longer plan on giving birth at this hospital because of how constantly let down I feel by the staff here. I really would not recommend the department to anyone else, and wish I had chosen a different hospital to begin with.

  10. Review titled Amazing midwife and labour experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Beth - Posted on 13 June 2023

I recently gave birth (3/6/23) and had the loveliest experience with the staff - from triage to delivery to transitional care. They listened to my birth preferences and stood by them, linked me to a midwife suited to my preferences (hypnobirthing, movement during labour). My midwife stayed with me throughout my labour, helped my partner to effectively support me, helped me to use a peanut ball and labour in different positions, and created a calming environment through starry lights, music and my massage oil. She encouraged me to trust my body and helped me to breathe my baby out. I will forever be grateful for the wonderful experience I had, especially after being so worried to get induced via hormone drip. Thank you!
