  1. Review titled How very professional and caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret Russell - Posted on 24 January 2023

I had to have another ct scan with contrast. I find it really makes me panic. The team in the ct scan unit were wonderful. They put me at ease and made me feel cared for. They even walked me to the cafe as I was unsure where to go. The whole team helped me to relax. Thank you to the whole team.

  2. Review titled Friendly and helpful staff

    by oscarjc74 - Posted on 23 January 2023

I was seen in A&E on a friday early afternoon and Managed to get all of the essential diagnostic tests required within short order, even over the weekend. All of the staff encountered during my subsequent week-long admittance were professional, friendly and as helpful as possible considering all of the time constraints and workload placed on them. The food was generally tasty and nutritious and there was more than enough at every meal. Some diagnostic testing remains outstanding after discharge but, the decision to discharge was the correct one and mutually agreed (there are people in poorer health who's need for a bed in the hospital was far greater than mine). The only slight criticism I might have is aimed more at the terms and conditions and workload expectations placed upon the staff in general than the conduct of the staff. I would have appreciated a little more time to discuss my case with my doctors and consultants in greater detail but felt that I was taking up their valuable time and that, taking anymore of their time would result in them essentially working unpaid overtime. One doctor covering a ward over the weekend ended up working a 14 hour shift that Sunday and expected to be working on his own ward the following day. As a result, I left hospital with questions unanswered as I didn't want to take up anyone's time and have subsequently been relying on Internet searches to provide answers to those questions regarding my specific diagnosis, the long-term implications thereof and various treatments, etc. Overall, a stellar performance by every individual encountered throughout my 6 day stay. Well done and thank you! I think of all of the diagnostics and treatments recieved over those 6 days as well as the stay on the ward, food, electricity and expert supervision provided and I contemplate what that same service would have cost financially in another part of the world and I shudder at the total figure I arrive at... namely- unaffordable! I can't thank you enough!

I had injured my knee and was in much pain everyone in the department from receptionist to the nurse and the porter were absolutely great. They provided me with a wheelchair to get to xray and some crutches to help me at home, fantastic thankyou.

by KBO - Posted on 20 January 2023

Attended Day Surgery at Pilgrim Hospital ,absolutely put at ease about my surgery, from the healthcare workers to nurses, anaesthetist, surgeon and recovery team. A positive experience, as I was very nervous. Good communication to myself from entering the ward to leaving the ward. Thank you.

  6. Review titled Amazing service and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Tracy Cooke - Posted on 13 January 2023

I visited Accident and Emergency this morning at about 3am with what I thought was a broken bone in my foot. I was triaged within minutes and then seen, Xrayed and seen again very quickly. All staff were kind, helpful and professional. They were working under a lot of pressure but made me feel like an individual. They took time and put me at my ease. I was in and out in less than an hour despite the warning of a 5 hour wait. Incredible service from all at Boston Pilgrim Accident and Emergency. Many many thanks.

  7. Review titled Long wait but lovely staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Michelle - Posted on 17 January 2023

I went to a and e I was expecting a long wait but it was 8 to 12 hours wait to see a doctor I was triaged very quickly canulated and bloods done with observations and reassurance. You are treated in clear cubicles with everyone else in the waiting room which is not ideal as you can hear what goes on theres no privacy but you have to deal with what you can as they are so busy and i appreciate that. People didnt though, they were moaning like.mad , but if they were well enough to moan then they were ok. But what they dont realise is there is most likely some one much sicker being looked after in the resus room. I was there for 5 hours and I got seen by surgical team that confirmed my issue was ok atm but I needed surgery asap but not as emergency today. I was.impressed by the staff everyone I encountered were kind helpful professional and reassuring. Cleanliness wasn't great as there was blood on the floor and rubbish left all over but they were so busy. The obs machine I asked it to be cleaned before they put it on me and then the staff member cleaned it between each patient after that. My pain was managed excellently I was offered much pain relief and drinks and I was grateful of that All in all they are so very busy and I feel for them so much but they are doing the best they can It was all in all a positive experience.

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback on your experience at Pilgrim A&E. At times, the area you were being cared for in can be challenging to manage and staff have to prioritise care according to clinical need. Staff have been given your feedback to work upon the not so positive issues surrounding cleanliness and privacy. We endeavour to provide a more suitable area for our chairs for treatment patients within the new build starting this year. Your feedback is always appreciated. Vikki

  8. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Miranda Davis - Posted on 17 January 2023

I brought my 81 year old Mum in to the UTC following a fall and suspected wrist fracture. The Doctor we saw was brilliant, very caring and empathetic. In fact all the Staff from the Receptionist, volunteer who brought us a cup of tea, X-ray staff and fracture clinic staff were wonderful. In total our visit was 4 hours which in these difficult times surprised us. Thank you NHS. Please in such difficult times only use A&E / UTC for genuine reasons.

  9. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 January 2023

Breast Unit :- I attended the the breast care unit. All of the staff there are so marvellous, I can’t praise them highly enough. They are all so very kind and caring from the moment you walk in to the time you leave. I felt the warmth of the atmosphere in that department, and I truly felt important. They showed exceptional care for me and my welfare. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I can’t thank them highly enough! The Car park, on the other hand, leaves a lot to be desired. Though this does not reflect on any of the staff or the hospital, which has been absolutely excellent!

  10. Review titled No call at appointment time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Louise McNeill - Posted on 12 January 2023

6:40pm appointment, this was fine as get home from work just before 6:30. They phoned at 6:16 and 6:27 when I was driving. At 6:30 I was sat with pen, paper and phone and no call came. Completely ridiculous to phone so much earlier than the appointment time. Also zero support. I intend to return the CPAP machine as no longer wish to be a patient here.
