Review titled Not satisfactory
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Savo Markos - Posted on 20 March 2025
I came to pinderfields today as I was advised by my GP. I was in a car accident last Friday 14/03/2025 and have been left with blurred vision, headache and stabbing pains in my neck, shoulder and uncomfortable pain in my mid back and lower baxk region. I was advised by my GP that I needed scans and needed to go to A&E. Upon my arrival at A&E, the triage nurse completely disregarded the pains in my neck, shoulder and back, and also refused to do any scans. He just said it was whiplash and to take paracetamol. I feel I wasn’t given the right care and I’m extremely disappointed with the service

Dear Savo Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent visit to our Emergency Department. I am sorry to read of the events you have described and that you have been left feeling extremely disappointed with the service. This is not what we would want for any of our patients to experience and for that I am really sorry. I will share your feedback with the team as it is really important we learn from our patient's experiences. Thank you again for your feedback and I hope you are recovering well from your car accident. However if you are still feeling some discomfort, please do visit your GP practice. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

Review titled Better use of patients time
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 26 February 2025
My Mum attended an appointment today and I attended with her. She was discharged on the basis that she is able to complete basic tasks like wash her face and she's managing her pain through Paracetamol. I believe that this conversation could have happened over a phone call or at a GP appointment. I think my time and her time was wasted today because there wasn't a physical inspection. If patients are being discharged because limited action can be taken, then that's fine. Please just find ways of doing it so that we can still manage our full-time work, child and pet commitments.

Referred to A&E by 111 advisor following consultation & referral to attend within 1hr. Arrived at A&E and was booked in straight away, initial assessment done with nurse @ 9.20am who advised she was adding me to GP list, only 2 patients ahead of me, shouldn’t take long. I wasn’t seen by GP @ 12.30 for a 5 minute consultation, diagnosis and prescription How is it acceptable that patients who need a 5 minute consultation are being referred to A&E and waiting for over 3 hrs to be seen for treatment. The whole NHS culture is a shambles & simply not good enough How can a GP justify seeing 3 patients in 3 hours ?

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience of our Emergency Department at Pinderfields Hospital. I am so sorry to read of your wait to be seen by a Doctor even though you were advised by 111 to attend the Emergency Department within the hour. We are continuing to experience increased numbers of patients coming into our Emergency Department, which means longer waits to be seen by our Nursing and Medical colleagues. We appreciate this does not make for a positive patient experience and for that I am sorry. Please be assured that we are working hard to improve waiting times for patients and to ease some of the pressures we are experiencing within the hospital. Thank you again for your feedback and I hope you are recovering well. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

Review titled Mostly good

Attended the same day emergency care after being sent by my GP, the care from the majority of staff was excellent despite it being very busy. The only thing that did let it down was the doctor who I saw, he was extremely rude, he asked about what brought me there and then talked over me and butted in when I was answering, asked about symptoms and talked over the top of me and didn't really pay any attention. He then proceeded to book me a blood transfusion despite me stating in the consultation 4 times I wasn't willing to have one and then discharged me to go back in the morning. I was very reluctant to go back the following day and took a lot to persuade me to go. Saw a different doctor the following day who was brilliant, listened to me and on checking all my results over the last year and as I wasn't symptomatic decided it was perfectly fine to use an alternative which only took an hour and could have been done the day before had the doctor not been so rude and arrogant and booked me in for a treatment he was already told I wasn't willing to have.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback regarding your recent experience. It is lovely to read that you received excellent care from the majority of our staff. However, it is disappointing that this experience was made negative due to one particular individual. I am so sorry to read that this member of staff was rude and did not pay any attention to what you were sharing with them. The Trust has clear values and behaviours that it expects all of its staff to adhere to and I'm so sorry that this was not your experience. I will be sharing your feedback with the manager of the service. Thank you again for your feedback and I hope you are recovering well. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

Review titled Sparse Wine List

Was admitted via a&e after collapsing at home, was disgusted by the number of dossers and bagheads who probably didn't need to be there, resulting in the genuine needy having to wait to be seen on stretchers including the elderly. Regardless, everyone worked as a team doctors and nurses were carrying out portering work, yes extremely short staffed which gave the impression that there was no one about, but nothing could be further from the truth. My stay was comfortable. Everyone who I witnessed was a credit to a broken health service and certainly worth more than they are paid.

When my son was rushed into resus with a significant head wound the team were absolutely fantastic. They put us all at ease from the start. The max fax lady that put the staples in his head was truly amazing and the after care has been 10/10. We could not have asked for a better service.
