  1. Review titled Great practice

I had a heart attack. I called 999 to report my problem and was promised to arrive within an hour, but to my surprise, the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later. The guys asked about what happened, measured the blood pressure and did an ECG, they decided that the situation was difficult, I needed to be examined in the hospital, since this was my first time. I am glad that I found myself in the hands of well-trained and technically equipped specialists.

  2. Review titled Brilliant receptionist

My husband was rushed to pinderfields by ambulance. We spent time in resuss, ward 25 and ward 45a. Apart from 3 doctors giving us different diagnosis, nurses were brilliant. But really wanted to show appreciation for the receptionist on ward 45a. She went above and beyond to help.

  3. Review titled Disapointment

Sat 12 hours in A@E .The evening Cardiologist recommended cardioversion for my heart. Stayed in for night , to be told the next day, go back to care of the previous hospital who provided this treatment for me. Wasted all that time and overnight , because the day cardiologist decided they would not do the procedure. I will now have to wait 2 months for this heart procedure , at the hospital that treated me before. Will never venture there again. Showed no empathy either.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback regarding your recent experience. I am so sorry to read of your experience and I can only imagine how upsetting and frustrating this must have been for you. It is disappointing to read that staff showed no empathy towards either. The Trust has values and behaviours that all staff should adhere to and I am sorry that your experience was not as positive as it should have been. I will share you feedback with the team as it is important we learn from our patients experiences. Thank you again and I hope that you are able to receive your procedure as soon as possible. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

  4. Review titled My first great practice in the Hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a heart attack and an ambulance took me to the hospital. I was examined comprehensively and a coronary stenting was quickly prescribed. The operation was also done very quickly and I felt almost nothing during it. The doctor who conducted it was a very experienced professional. Many thanks to him and all the staff who treated me.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience. I am really sorry to read of your experience and the length of time you were waiting to see one of our Doctors. We are continuing to experience significant numbers coming through our Emergency Departments which, unfortunately, means some of our patients have to wait much longer than we would like. We fully appreciate that this does not make for a positive patient experience but we are doing everything we can to try and reduce the length of time patients are waiting. However, I am really concerned that you are still experiencing pain four days later. I would strongly advise that you contact your GP practice to speak with them regarding your ongoing pain or, contact NHS 111. It is important that you seek medical advice as soon as possible. Thank you again and I hope you start to feel better soon. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

  7. Review titled piggy in middle that’s genuine patients

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Susan Gilbert - Posted on 21 July 2023

a person dressed In green came into waiting room and was rather abrupt informing patients that if drs has referred them and it wasn’t urgent they should go back to gp I had come with my friend who had a call off GP at trinity medical centre saying she must attend a & eas they thought she may have a p.E. which in my view is quite serious . this is not the way forward both secondary care and primary care should not be fighting against each other , patients are being passed around and becoming piggies in the middle due to no fault of their own. It’s time nhs worked together , yes you are short staffed but nhs is the pride of uk let’s build a better service , not knock each other . There are patients that are a waste of time but we have brought up a nanny state, so t make genuine patients feel bad for attending for possibly life saving treatment . get this sorted to accept capital letters

Dear Susan Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your recent experience. I would like to say how sorry I am that a member of staff spoke in a rather abrupt manner to patients whilst in the waiting room. I will speak to the manager of the service regarding this as this is not the behaviour we would expect from any of our staff. I am saddened to read that patient's feel that they are "piggy in the middle" between primary and secondary care. This is unacceptable and will be something that I will share within the organisation. Thank you again and I wish your friend a speedy recovery. Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

  8. Review titled Surgical assessment unit

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 November 2024

I was admitted to the Surgical Assessment Unit in June 2023 but the distress of that experience still lives me now. I was admitted to the unit by A&E after experiencing regular vomiting and severe flank pain. A&E gave me a CT scan and took bloods. The kidney scan revealed a kidney stone blocking the ureter. Despite regularly telling the nurses that I was feeling much worse and needing to see a doctor, I was not seen for 48 hours by a doctor. When I told the nurses that I was feeling so ill, the nurses variously told me that I was going to be discharged, that I wasn't seriously ill, and that they needed to deal with much more poorly patients. What really upset me even now was that I was told I was taking a bed that could be used by a critically ill patient. At one point I asked a nurse why they hadn't called a doctor and they just walked away and said nothing. When the nurses came on the ward they asked the other patients how they were but completely blanked me and I had to call them over to tell them I was in lots of pain and getting worse. After 48 hours a kind urology consultant came to see me on ward round. The consultant had bloods taken which revealed a severe infection, I had gone into complete retention and was catheterized and my ureter was completely blocked and I had Hydronephrosis. I had a severe infection that needed to be treated with vancomycin. The consultant could not understand why the nurses had not called a doctor as I was clearly very ill. The nurses suddenly became ultra friendly and came to see me every half an hour but the psychological damage had already been done. I was taken to theatre and the stone removed. I was taken to the urology department to recover for a couple of days and the nurses were really lovely there. Fortunately I made a full recovery but I can't get over what happened and why the nurses targeted me in this way. I am terrified of returning to the Surgical Assessment Unit.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments regarding your experience of our Surgical Assessment Unit. Firstly I am very disheartened to read your description of events of when you were a patient at the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. From the very outset I want to say how sorry I am for your poor experience while you were in our care. However, I am thankful to read that not all of your experience was poor and that you did receive compassionate care from some of our staff. It is clear from your feedback that this experience has clearly caused you a lot of anxiety and stress and I am saddened that you do not feel able to return to the unit should you require any treatment in the future. The Trust has very clear core values that staff should adhere to which are; Caring, High Standards, Improving and Respect. It is disappointing that some of our staff did not adhere to these values which has had such a negative impact on you. I will be sharing your feedback with the manager of the team as it is important we learn from our patient feedback. Thank you again and if there is any further we can do to help, please do reach out to our PALS team (myh-tr.palsmidyorks@nhs.net) Kind regards Clare Blackburn (Head of Patient Experience)

  9. Review titled Meeting amazing nurse in Pinderfield Hospital

    by Asad345 - Posted on 21 June 2023

So the day started off in dewsbury hospital and it ended in pinderfield hospital. The whole hospital situation took 6 hours but I met an amazing nurse at the end. Around 1-2am, I was introduced to her in Gate 36, pinderfield hospital. She is 23 and was very friendly and sociable to talk. She made the visit very memorable. Would appreciate if I could get that staff email or schedule a meetup to say thank you directly. Honestly was feeling so tired and exhausted through the whole ordeal but she made me enjoy every second.
