  1. Review titled Kind and great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Fran - Posted on 14 November 2022

Visited A&E today for the first time and was stuck by friendliness and reassuring nature of the nursing staff I would like in particular to praise the volunteers, they just appeared when you needed them. I was struggling to walk as I came into Main Reception which as the wrong place for A&E and Volunteer came up put me into a wheelchair and delivered me to the correct place. Another one helped my husband to get me into the car . A big thank you to everyone. It’s a great hospital

Dear Fran Thank you for posting your kind feedback and highlighting the valuable role the volunteers play in improving the experience of patients, whether a simple task of offering a face mask or appearing with a wheelchair when you most need it. It is also good to hear how, despite being under immense pressure, you found the Emergency Department so friendly and reassuring, and we hope your wait wasn’t too long. I know the staff will appreciate your kind comments Regards Patient Experience Team

  2. Review titled First Class Hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Re: 15-20th October - Ward A4 Green Team I would like to say a massive thank you to Poole Hospital, "Ward A4 Green team"  who looked after me this week when I was admitted seriously ill with Pneumonia & other health complications. Thank you to all the Respiratory Consultants for getting me a bed on the ward in a cool room - essential relief for a raging temperature! Thank you for all the jugs of iced water and being able to finally, taste a  coffee, going that extra mile to make it how I like it - so kind! Thank you to many staff for helping my husband and myself. Thank you to my medicine dispenser , always going thru my tablets so patiently with me when questioning what I was taking! To the Phlebotomist, grieving but still at work, you are so professional, you know you are good if you can find my veins! Thank you to my night nurse for getting me an eye mask to shut out town lights, so after 4x days of no sleep I finally slept, Amen to that!  I didn't even think to ask about because I was too poorly to think!? Thank you to all the staff who brought me my meals always with a smile. For everyone who looked after me so kindly, so caring, so friendly, so professional and for going that extra mile, you really all are a First Class team of people, working under immense pressure but I can't speak highly enough, of each and everyone of you, from the Consultants, Drs, Nurses, Auxiliary staff and cleaners, you're all a credit to our wonderful NHS! Thank you so very much for getting me better. Best Wishes from Mrs L Ballard

Dear Lynne Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review about your unfortunate stay at Poole hospital. Never an experience you want to go through but always great to hear positive experiences under such difficult circumstances. We hope you are now fully recovered with no adverse after effects from your complicated pneumonia. We are pleased to hear the staff went above and beyond to make sure you and your husband were well looked after during your stay and how well they worked together as a team to provide the overall service you received. 3. Review titled Great Service/Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Brian Stanley - Posted on 20 October 2022

I was told to go to A&E by my GP for tests regarding my breathing post Covid I was aware I would have a wait which ended up being 7hours but I was seen and dealt with by professional, caring staff. My only disappointment was some of my fellow patients who complained about waiting they seem to have no consideration for others whose condition required prioritising. The reception staff and triage nurses dealt with these people in a curtious professional manner. As for my personal experience I can only commend all the staff and thank them for their care. You should be proud of yourself and what you achieve in these trying times.

Dear Brian Thank you for your kind comments and we hope your breathing has now fully recovered post Covid. Sorry your wait was 7 hours; sadly given the current pressures this is becoming more regular than any member of staff would like to see. As you experienced it also affects some patients in a negative manner which can escalate into abusive or aggressive behaviour. Thank you for commending the staff for the care they provided you during your visit and we hope the behaviour of some patients did not make you feel overly anxious during your wait. 4. Review titled First class treatment

I found myself having to visit Poole Hospital A&E today and had the very best of care. Everyone was excellent and caring in an extremely busy department. Whatever department I have to go to at the hospital is always excellent. How anyone can abuse them I do know. We are lucky to have such a Hospital in Poole. Thankyou all.

Dear Lyn Apologies for the delay in responding but thank you so much for your kind words. The whole hospital is under immense pressure at this time, but it is acutely felt in the Emergency Department, as it is often the ‘front door’ to the hospital having to deal with long delays while they wait for beds to become available within the hospital. Sadly, patients are not always in the best frame of mind when in pain or fearful. This, combined with a long wait, can cause some patients to lash out at those around them, whether this is staff or other patients. Certainly not excusable and is often reported, but somewhat understandable in the circumstances. We are pleased to hear that your experience was a positive one and you had such good care from all those who treated you, and also having experienced similar care in other areas of the hospital. 5. Review titled Lovely Doctor!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by SarahGallop - Posted on 01 November 2022

I had a visit to the Urgent Care Centre at the weekend. The waiting time was less than I expected and the Doctor was exceptional, he took time to explain everything and I did not feel that he was rushing on to the next patient. We saw the same Dr a couple of years ago when my son was poorly, he was just as thorough then so feel very lucky to have this locally.

I had my very first surgery with Poole hospital and the day surgery team were brilliant. I couldn't ask for a better first time experience. I was so scared and they helped calm my nerves and the aftercare was brilliant.
