Review titled Emergency consultation for flashes in peripheral vision
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Graham R - Posted on 28 October 2024
I started to experience unexpected flashes of light in the peripheral vision of one of my eyes at the weekend. Having experienced a retinal detachment in the past I wanted to get this checked out at the A & E eye clinic this morning. I was registered promptly just after 8.30am and was triaged by a very professional nurse a short time later. As expected drops were put in my eye to allow photographs to be taken and I was seen by the consultant a short while later. Thankfully there was no problem discovered with the retina on a thorough examination and I was advised all was ok. The consultant took time to explain the symptoms I had experienced and why I was seeing these intermittent flashes. Clearly I was very reassured after the consultation results. I would just like to say that the service and care provided to me by all the Eye Clinic staff (reception, triage and the doctor) was really first class and couldn't be faulted. Thank you all.

Review titled Very good service

I always find the experience good. Just one small niggle. The person doing the scans needs to come to the door of the room, most of us patients have at least some sight loss and can’t always tell where a voice is coming from.

Review titled A big thank you for your amazing work

I visited the unit with, unknown to me, posterior vitreous detachment in my right eye. Within one and a half hours I had been assessed by a nurse, seen by a doctor and received laser treatment to correct the problem. I am so pleased with the level of care and attention I received. Thank you.

I waited overand hour after my appointment time. Nobody was seen in that time. The doctor was in the room with no patient and nobody explained why there was much a delay.

I had a problem with one of my eyes, which was causing me some concern. The nursing staff who I saw after a very short wait were so lovely and reassuring. After a thorough examination, diagnosis and course of treatment advised, I left the Eye Unit within 45minutes of arriving. Thankyou so much for all that you do. Being able to walk in and be treated was great and so very much appreciated.

I attended the emergency eye clinic early today with persistent pain following the arrival of floaters in my right eye. The efficiency, professionalism and care shown from the moment of arrival to departure was exemplary. This is surely the NHS at its very best and it’s clearly made possible by the staff and medical professionals who work in the Prince Charles Eye Unit. Thank you!

My husband had eye op where a mistake was made, 3 weeks ago, went back yesterday to be told he cant have new lense put in for at least 3 months. They say due to waiting list,I do not understand why he has to wait so long when the op went wrong, yes they said sorry 4/5 times,he is 87 yrs old and very unsteady due to very poor eye sight, very unhappy about this.

Arrived at hospital, parking easy (unexpected as near centre of Windsor). One hour later I had been processed by two nurse practitioners and an ophthalmic doctor. Result was reassurance about my condition and I was on my way home.
