  1. Review titled Day Surgery Unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kath Lucken - Posted on 14 September 2024

Excellent experience in the day unit. The nursing staff and Dr were so friendly, welcoming and efficient. Everything was explained beforehand and I felt completely at ease. After only experiencing A&E and the medical ward at this hospital I was not looking forward to this at all but this unit is so clean, welcoming and efficient. Thank you to ask the staff.

  2. Review titled Wonderful support from nurses at the Day Surgery Unit

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a really positive experience at the Day Surgery Unit (DSU) last week, despite this being in very difficult personal circumstances. The four nurses who played a part in looking after me during my time in the DSU were absolutely superb. I was on the ward for a long time and they were very attentive and reassuring throughout. A huge thanks to them for looking after me.

  3. Review titled Excellent service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I would like to thank respiratory for excellent service this week, when it was noticed from a recent scan (as yet unreported by radiology) that I had pneumonia and needed urgent treatment. A speedy appointment was arranged, and I was able to start treatment right away. Without this prompt action my condition would not have been noticed, because I didn’t feel that bad.

  4. Review titled Mixed experience

Rated 4 stars out of 5

Was at pruh with my partner for audiology appointment received by post and phone after an almost 6 month wait (after chasing!). It was quite clear after an hour that the staff didn't have a record of the appointment. After I enquired we were sitting in the wrong place. Once in the right place, the locum checked our appt letter and kindly and expertly attended to my partner. The medical staff (once attentive) were excellent, but the administration was poor and no meet and greet to ensure patients are heading to the right place cost us valuable time (the appointment letter just said to enter and sit in the waiting area with no need to check in).

Although there are plenty of ( no smoking) signs within the grounds and signs on the outside of A&E and all departments No one takes any notice even two security guards were standing next to two smokers

Admitted to Farnborough Ward 10th May they looked after me very well, caring professional and all staff including domestic staff were friendly. One hostess offered to get me food from the canteen because she knew I was off my food. Please pass on my thanks.

  7. Review titled From Urgent Care to Surgery =Superstars

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Hollingbery - Posted on 14 April 2024

After missing the last 4 stair steps, and forcing 85kg + gravity on an ankle folded under my falling body, I attended the Urgent Care Centre at the Princess Royal. An hour later X-Rays confirmed 3 fractures and ligament damage. Triage through the Clinical Diagnostic Unit ended in a bed in Surgical 4 Ward and anticipated surgery the next day. My grateful thanks to the nurses and staff of both wards, and the Urgent Care Centre. And special thanks to the amazing surgical team who spent 2 hours the morning after repairing all the damage. My accident demonstrates the significant number of personnel needed to assist a patient. Apart from the staff mentioned, I’ve needed the radiology technicians, physios, surgical recovery, the pharmacy, porters and those providing food and drinks. I’ve done myself some injury over the years, including a motorcycle crash broken leg and a personal best deadlift hernia. I hate hospitals because of their association with pain, enforced confinement and rehabilitation. But I am always in awe at the skill and compassion of the staff that work within them. Thank you.

After 5 years of no smear test I had one in 2024 and unfortunately it came back that pre-cancerous cells were present from my smear to surgery it was all done very swiftly and in particular the care at the Pruh Orpington was amazing it was my first time there and the hospital as a whole was outstanding very clean and neat and staff were so kind and reassuring I was extremely anxious about this experience even having general anesthesia I was nervous but I was met with support from the nurses to surgeon all staff throughout my visit were so respectful and caring I am so grateful to them all. Thank you

On 23rd April 2024 I attended the DSU for a procedure. The whole experience was really amazing, the care and consideration that I was given was second to none. The nurses who looked after me were fantastic, I cannot thank them enough.

  10. Review titled Terrible comms, wasted my time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Matt - Posted on 12 April 2024

I was brought in with chest pains. The tests proved negative but they wanted me to do a stress test to make sure. I was booked an appt and received a letter telling me what to do. It listed medications not to take, but my meds weren’t listed. As I’d been taking them, they couldn’t do the test and the was rebooked for 10 days later. I told them at the time I had a hamstring tear but this was ignored. A week before the test, the called to check I would be able to do the test with my injury. I went to voicemail and as requested I left my details to be called back. It took over a week and more calls before I spoke to someone. I explained my issue and was told that I should still come in. I’ve just been in and was told that I would have to run. I said I couldn’t so my test was cancelled. I now have a six week wait for an alternative test to make sure there are no problems with my heart. This is not my local hospital and it takes a fair bit of time to get here. I’m also taking time off work to come to appointments that are pointless. While the initial treatment was good, I’m very unhappy about the way my follow up appts have been dealt with.
