My dad was admitted end of December and stayed for two weeks. He was given the best of care and I was updated constantly. The staff on ward 727 were wonderful and kind to my Dad. Thank you.

Review titled Excellent care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Linda ivison - Posted on 30 November 2023
Had elective surgury on 408 for parathyroid removal and neck resection for cancer. Everyone, from cleaners r to health cares, nurses, theatre staff and surgical team were fantastic. Very nervous, but they were all so patient and reassuring every step of the way, and kept me informed throughout. My partner and I thought this could never happen again, but 21 years later here we were, facing a new set of challenges. Thanks to the surgical team’s skills, the outcome is far more positive than we could ever hope to imagine. Given facial and shoulder exercises, and eye care before being discharged. The entire ENT staff and team are a credit to the NHS. Despite hardships faced due to woeful lack of funding, they are amazing people, and my goodness where would we be without them. Thank you to everyone, high and low, you are all fantastic. Linda Ivison, and partner Mick.

Review titled Stressful experience
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 November 2023
My relative is on the assessment ward and so far had bad experience. They wait so long for attention. When they ask for something or voice their concern they get ignored most of the time. Waiting for an operation is very stressful and compassion needs to be in place. Short staffing and being busy is no excuse for not giving individuals the care and attention they need. We are not happy with the overall care, and improvements need to be made. It’s not acceptable that patients are being ignored and waiting lengthy times when requests are made.

Review titled Fantastic service and prompt procedure
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I attended to Ambulatory Care for a day procedure. All staff I encountered on the day were attentive, kind and caring, and my procedure was performed quickly and efficiently by my surgeon and her team. This was the latest in a number of urology procedures, and at all times I have found all Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham staff to be most polite and professional, helpful and supportive. The professional yet supportive approach has been invaluable in helping me to manage a number of complex health conditions. I would have no hesitation in recommending Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham to others.

Review titled Disappointed to say the least
by Keeley Watts - Posted on 20 May 2024
I am extremely disappointed that in the 3 years since I was referred to this hospital as the apparent specialists in "IIH" I have been told that they won't consider treatment unless I have papilodema which in all my years of having the condition I have not had. I have also been chasing a referral to neurosurgeon which should have happened at the get go in 21 and has now only just been placed in November 23 meaning I could still have around 12/18 months until I see someone. Referral have been placed with Shunt Specialist nurse on 4 separate occasions but when you call to chase an appointment you are told there is no referral. As it stands I am being treated for migraines which I don't suffer with and my shunt has failed vision is failing tinnitus is ridiculous to the point of hearing loss dizziness and vomiting but being left all because I do not have papilodema. Surprised and shocked by this treatment after being told they were the best in the country.

Review titled Excellent service provided
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Ian Leaver - Posted on 19 October 2023
I attended the liver department on Wednesday 18th October to attend my liver checkup. The departments run most efficiently. After checking in at the desk I was weighed and a short while later I was seen by a consultant. He was cheerful, informative and listened intently to my concerns. He didn't seem to rush and answered all my queries. I then returned to the waiting room and took a ticket for a blood test which occurred a few minutes later. I then went to the pharmacy which was very busy but I was treated courteously and efficiently. Then off home. The only problem I had was finding a parking space on arrival which took us a good twenty minutes. I have always been more than pleased with the service I have received. What wonderful hospital which saved my life in 2020.

Review titled Mixed grades of care
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 November 2023
My surgery was very long but successful, thank fully and thank you to the team. My initial care in epoc was poor and unhelpful. Nights on my first ward stay, also proved unhelpful. Daytime staff and day and night time staff, (as I progressed to more manageable care ,) were excellent. Possibly I had withdrawal symptoms from my normal prescription medication, which was slow in being properly instigated. This medication has been long established in me for mental health condition. Want to praise the staff of my 2nd week stay but I hope others don’t experience the suffering I had to contend with during my initial nursing care and treatment. It was an unhealthy atmosphere. Thankyou to surgical team and caring staff with true vocations.

ox overall Walker is atrocious on five one seven I'm not naming names because I don't know names but my previous experience is on five one eight we're fantastic but on 517 you can push the butter and not be saying for over an hour which is a renders especially when you're lainey in your next or an extreme pain the nurses come give you a medication after time I don't give you four medication and then they don't even answer a question I just leave it on the side and leave so overall I tried us six hours I was left on an air mattress lighted laying in a sheet that had my urine on it because of a capital coming apart so they were later even after conscience request for assistance nothing so this makes the B looked into and dealt with overall horrendous on this particular walk
