    I spent six nights in the hospital being treated for pneumonia. Medical attention was excellent, very focussed and detailed. I was disappointed by the lack of communication between doctors and myself and doctors and nurses. On one occasion I was told by the doctor that I might go home that day. When I heard nothing more I sought out the doctor to find out what was happening and was told. ‘Oh no you’re not going home today, it will be later in the week’. On the final day the doctor said I would go home that afternoon. By 5pm I heard nothing more so spoke to the nurse who said they didn’t know I was to go home. A letter was prepared for me but as the pharmacy was closed I was sent home with one pill for the next morning and a friend had to go to the hospital the next day to collect the rest of my prescription. Better communication would have prevented these problems.

    I was seen by doctor on 2 April in his endocrinology clinic. He was very personable and reviewed blood tests previously completed and confirmed I had Primary Hyperthyroidism. He told me me this would likely need an operation to remove adenomas. I was then sent for blood tests and asked to do a 24 hour urine test. ( I was given 2 x2.5 litre containers and returned the the the following Monday) I received a letter on the 4 th of April saying I would need a dexascan ‘in the near future’ After 6 weeks I contacted QE by phone and asked when urine results would be available . He who didn’t give a name told me they were not available yet! I was appalled by this fobbing off technique as I know results are available pretty quickly. He couldn’t give me any indication when my dexa scan would be! Meanwhile osteopenia is getting worse and I worry constantly about the devasting effect the high calcium is having in my triplex kidneys . So while the appointment went well and confirmed what I already knew, the follow up or lack of has been appalling and upsetting. It is now over 2 months ! Hopefully my letter may generate a response??

    I was cared for by A & E, the ENT team, and Ward 408 during a 7-night admission. I received great kindness and respect, as well as extremely effective clinical care. Especially impressive were the liaison between departments (eg. contacting other teams involved in my quite complex care) and the good communication with me, about what was going on. I want to mention also the responsiveness and kindness of everybody on Ward 408, who always took time for a friendly interaction, as well as providing the things demanded by their jobs. This is true of everyone, including those who visit the room to clean or to bring water - and I cannot praise enough the extraordinary nursing team. Thank you! I came in quite ill, and left mended and reassured.

    My appointment was at 4 pm and various tests were done very efficiently and politely without delay. I did have to wait to see the Consultant who was very thorough in both his investigations and his explanations. He was very kind and polite and even shared his mango drink with me! What is incredibly impressive is my receipt 2 days later of his detailed report. He must have done it at the end of a long and intense day. Thank you so much.

    I had my shunt surgery I was on ward 411 I was so nervous going to this ward as usually I go to 407 or 409 all the staff on 411 were so great really looked after me Thank you so much and the theatre staff are great everytime I've had a operation.

    I attended A&E with my two lifelong friends, the husband being very unwell. He arrived by ambulance and in a poorly state. We followed by car. Yes there was a wait to get into the hospital but the ambulance crew were amazing during this time. Once inside the hospital he was treated with the utmost care and kindness. His examination was thorough and I personally felt humbled by the obvious dedication and care that the paramedic team gave in the Ambulance Unit. The A&E doctor was thorough and left no stone unturned in trying to identify the cause of my friends problems. The NHS have to put up with a lot of negativity but I for one am a huge supporter of this wonderful institution that has been underfunded and underrated for far too long and the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham is one of the best! So thank you, one and all.

    Just to think it’s an emergency department, I walked into. Nurses and doctors, acted like they didn’t care. I kept on pleading as I was in severe pain. All I was told was I had not stayed past 6 hours which was the waiting time and I saw some doctors gisting and not doing anything until I fortunately found a doctor who happened to not work in the department who had to speak to them of which they finally gave me paracetamol. They acted as if they don’t care. I felt like I was going to faint, the pain was unbearable. I think the staff should do better, empathy and care were lacking in the values of the staff.

    Seeing a 'Specialist' in the 'Neurology Department', in the 'Heritage Building', was brilliant. He was explaining everything to me and wanted to make sure I knew I had help when/if needed. Appreciated I had my partner with me and acknowledged her loads. Felt so comfortable and valued. Shook our hands like anything and made sure we called him by his first name.

    first saw a doctor and had history taken at 12 weeks following 2 week cancer referral. Doctors failed to answer letters.fFailed to take biopsies which means I had waited months longer with symptoms, All about me without me.Should be in special measures.
