Review titled Amazing staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 04 July 2024
I came into hospital with an asthma attack and stayed over night to be observed. I was in a very stressed out and bad mood coming in as I was struggling to breathe properly and I had already been dismissed by a doctor in another facility who said I was fine. As soon as I started the triage process I was completely reassured and settled down as all the staff who helped me were extremely comforting and helpful. Thank you so much to anyone who helped me during this stay, you are all exceptional!

I was at the ER at the QEH June 20,2024 and I was so pleased with how I was treated. The Dr., nurses and support staff were very efficient and kind. They explained everything to me thoroughly and saw to it that I understood what was taking place at all times. I had a very pleasant experience! There was very little wait time! Thank you

My GP referred me to the, Urgent Surgical Assessment Unit. The staff couldn't have been nicer and helpful. I really appreciate the care I was given. I understand the pressures on the staff and I know they all do a very hard job. What a wonderful hospital and thank goodness for everyone that works there. Thank you all!!!

My son received wonderful care in the A&E department today. The doctor was excellent and all the nursing staff were very friendly and competent. I greatly appreciate the hard work of the NHS staff under not easy working conditions!

Review titled What a disgrace of a health system
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anne H - Posted on 07 June 2024
Broken down and unkept A & E. Don’t even have a microphone to call patients over the noise of the waiting room. Not enough chairs for the patients. After bring seen waited over 5 hours to get X-ray and blood results. Broken system.

Dear Anne, I am sorry to hear of the negative experience you had whilst in our department. We try to keep the area as clean and tidy as possible but this can be quite difficult during periods of peak activity as at times the congestion can lead to standing room only. Our tanoy system is utilised for announcing emergency calls to staff in the department and on occasion for communicating with colleagues and patients, however, it would not be suitable to use for calling each and every patient in the waiting area as it would potentially block the channel when required in an emergency. I apologise once again for your poor experience and thank you for feeding back to us, I hope you have now received the treatment you required and are recovering well following your recent illness. Kind regards, Amanda Yates Matron Emergency Department Queen Elizabeth Hospital Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

Was seen today 24/05/2024 and had my grandson with me and I cannot praise the staff . Had my ecg by a wonderful lady who involved my grandson throughout and when I was being seen by the consultant she kept his chatty self occupied with drawings and stickers. He and myself left feeling elated at the amazing patient care inside out. What a credit to cardiology she is . Wonderful lady with impeccable people skills. Also had a thorough consult which was explained in depth with compassion and care . 5 stars and more.

Review titled Fabulous consultant and wonderful support staff

Attended a check-up appointment following hip surgery I had several years ago. My surgeon is consistently fabulous - a Superman Surgeon, while also being wonderfully personable. The support staff, receptionists, cleaners, nurses - working so hard on a bank holiday (27 May) - also need special mention. They were so friendly and helpful. I would like to highlight, especially, the woman who I think was the main nurse working at the orthopaedic station that morning. She had a lovely manner about her, and I noticed how well and gently she was guiding and encouraging a young trainee nurse from a local university, who had recently started a placement at the hospital. Well done everyone. You are all appreciated!

Review titled All the relavent numbers ring out!
by Anonymous - Posted on 16 April 2024
My elderly mother had a fall on Saturday and has broken her arm in two places. After an eight hour wait in A&E she was told that it was a bad break and will need surgery (metal rods, pins, etc). As my father has dementia, she was unable to stay in hospital until I arrived the following morning. She asked to be sent home and the A&E staff told her she would receive a call that evening with details of her procedure for the following day. It is now Tuesday and we are still waiting. I have called and nobody can tell me what is happening. When calling the orthopaedics department, I get a voicemail, with no ability to leave a message. I am not angry at staff, I am angry at the overloaded and overworked system. In the meantime, my mother suffers and my heart breaks!

Arrived by bus from the direction of Cemetery Lane. There were no signs for the hospital and City mapper took me through a back route past the mortuary with no pedestrian access and which was cluttered with discarded hospital furniture. Way finding to the hospital was terrible and when I finally arrived at reception I had to bring attention to myself to be acknowledge by the reception staff who were chatting to each other. When I finally found my department - again with no help from the signage - and at this point on the brink of tears of frustration - I was told my consultant was ill and that I’d have to wait an additional 45 minutes. I was then told to go get an x-ray in a department which turned out to have no reception. Having visited another nearby reception for help, I was told I just had to sit on ‘the brown chairs’ and someone would find me, but if they didn’t, I should visit another reception. Whilst the staff were all pleasant the whole experience was hugely disempowering and frustrating and undermined my confidence in the care I’d receive. I was left with a sense that no one was in charge. Very poor patient experience.
