  1. Review titled Woeful

Rated 1 star out of 5

Arrived by bus from the direction of Cemetery Lane. There were no signs for the hospital and City mapper took me through a back route past the mortuary with no pedestrian access and which was cluttered with discarded hospital furniture. Way finding to the hospital was terrible and when I finally arrived at reception I had to bring attention to myself to be acknowledge by the reception staff who were chatting to each other. When I finally found my department - again with no help from the signage - and at this point on the brink of tears of frustration - I was told my consultant was ill and that I’d have to wait an additional 45 minutes. I was then told to go get an x-ray in a department which turned out to have no reception. Having visited another nearby reception for help, I was told I just had to sit on ‘the brown chairs’ and someone would find me, but if they didn’t, I should visit another reception. Whilst the staff were all pleasant the whole experience was hugely disempowering and frustrating and undermined my confidence in the care I’d receive. I was left with a sense that no one was in charge. Very poor patient experience.

  2. Review titled Diabolical

Rated 1 star out of 5

Very disappointed with how the staff at Queen Elizabeth have dealt with my case. Came to a&e on the 14th, I was there for almost 8 hours. I was told I had a mild infection and was not given any medication. I was told to phone if the symptoms are the same within the next 2 days. Today I checked my temperature and it was 39.1° so I called 111 and was told an out of hours gp will call me, I received this call 7 hours later only for the Dr to ask what was wrong as she could not see my record from the 14th and can’t see anything under my records. This is very negligent and I will be making a compliant claim.

I am sorry to hear that you were not happy with your care during your recent visit and the delays you encountered. The emergency department has been under high pressure resulting in longer than usual waiting times to see a doctor which we are working hard to combat. All records and assessments are recorded and stored electronically on our system and information may not be readily available to all out of hours medical services as electronic systems may vary, I apologise if this was not explained sufficiently at the time. I wish you well in your recovery and apologise for any distress caused. If you would like us to investigate further. Please contact our patient advice liaison service (PALS). They can be reached on pals.qeht@nhs.net Kind regards, Amanda yates ED Matron

  3. Review titled Exemplary care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Professional care delivered with compassion on recent and unexpected stay in the hospital. From Accident & Emergency, the short stay unit and all the staff on ward 5b, each and every one of them were amazing. Not all angels have wings ❤️

I attended the endoscopy department for a colonoscopy and found the kindness and warmth of the staff amazing. They were all so good and concerned and endeavoured to make the experience as stress free as possible. I am so very grateful to them all. Thank you.

Waited a long time to see a Doctor but was very impressed and reassured by what was said. Wanted to express my thanks. The other staff throughout the long wait were very helpful too. This was on Friday 8 March - saw Doctor at 8pm.

  6. Review titled Very good experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nicola - Posted on 01 March 2024

Nobody likes having to go to A&E but I have to say the care that I have received there today was nothing short of exceptional. In a very busy environment I was seen by triage, sent for bloods and a scan then results with a doctor. They were so reassuring and thorough I just cannot fault them. There were even staff coming around offering sandwiches and hot drinks for patients. The QE has an awful reputation and people only usually write a review if they have something negative to say! I want to say thankyou to everyone involved in my care today you are doing an amazing job.

  8. Review titled Really poor experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 February 2024

Seen 45 mins past appointment time, couldn't get seat in waiting room due to the number of men there. Scan afterwards completed by trainee, scan pics completely useless. Told to go to mat assessment for scan review as no docs left at first department. Asked 3 different times why I was there and told they didn't know why I was there. Eventually I took my notes back round to first department who told me just to go. Scan should have been reviewed properly due to low papp a count. Would love to be able to change hospital at this point as I don't have any faith in this place, the way the departments talk about each other tells me alot, one department claims the other department doesn't know what they're talking about, unprofessional. Constantly rushed through appointments. Can never get through on the phone. Submitted referral to maternity physio and never heard anything, no help from any of the midwives and still haven't met my named midwife despite being within 6 weeks of edd. If i can change hospital before remaining appointments i absolutely will.

by Angel lily Capocci - Posted on 09 January 2024

There is no option for Nuclear Medicine imaging dept ! But my experience was excellent was met by two lovely imaging guys that put me at ease gave me a tracer injection that was pain free, both chaps were friendly and we had a great conversation, the dept is clean and the ceiling in the imaging room is fantastic ! And no lengthy wait time was seen straight away ...I would recommend this dept and get a 10 out of 10 from my ...excellent all round

Thank you for the comments about the Nuclear Medicine Team. Our nuclear medicine technicians work hard to provide patients with a positive experience, and we appreciate it when patient take the time to acknowledge the dedication and effort that our staff make to provide a high standard of service. Greet feedback on the “skylight” ceiling in the scanning room, a new feature that was added as part of the complete redevelopment of the department with new state of the art SPECT-CT scanner which opened in October 2023.
