  1. Review titled Very good service and care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Emma - Posted on 05 December 2023

Came in with a broken and displaced toe. One man in the Reception area at the time was very friendly and helpful to everyone he came across and went the extra mile. I wasn’t waiting too long and the area was very clean and calm. I did not need to be triaged so was seen by who I assume is a senior nurse who was very kind and friendly and put me at ease. An X ray was arranged very promptly and the radiographer was also very caring and helpful. All in all a very positive experience and I wanted to thank everyone who helped me that day (Sunday 3 Dec).

  2. Review titled CT Scan

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by William - Posted on 22 December 2023

Attended a CT scan yesterday. I actually went to Darent Valley by mistake and had to make a mad dash to Sidcup to try to make my appointment. I was phoned by one of the radiographer's and when I explained my predicament they were happy to wait for me. Arrived twenty minutes late to meet a very pleasant male radiographer who explained the procedure. A female radiographer then took me through for the procedure, She was the epitome of a caring helpful health professional. Both radiographer's were extremely friendly as well as professional and are a credit to their profession. A quick scan and removal of the canula and I was on my way. Thank you very much for an excellent experience (and sorry for being late).

  4. Review titled Terrible manners on the orthopaedic department

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by LCK - Posted on 18 December 2023

The physio was absolutely superb. Top treatment. Then referred me to what I thought was a Consultant as they did not want to give me any more steroid pain injections so I was refered to him for options. I sat down. After full five minutes of silent scrolling" You're here for a knee replacement aren't you " No not necessary. What is your weight" ? " I don't know" I go and get weighed " You are much too heavy for surgery The anaesthetic will not knock you out. Now I know I have put on a lot of weight. I have had a broken back and a smashed up knee but I am not an elephant. " The anaesthesia will not knock you out " Really? I went away with" If you want surgery lose two stones in 3 months and see what happens then. The thing is, I did not go there for surgery, I went there to discuss the next option regarding my knee not as a pre op for surgery. I feel this is yet another way of defering people to the waiting list so it doesn't look as bad as it is " You're too heavy for anaesthesia? Does he for one minute realise what that sounds like? That aside, the fact that I went there to discuss options and not specifically for knee surgery makes it worse. I left there feeling like Man Mountain and believe me I can take insults but the fact is, he assumed I was there for surgery. It was rushed, an hours wait in the waiting room and he needs in future to do his homework a bit more and have a more decent and respectful bedside manner. I understand your BMI can be too high for safe surgery but to be told that the anaesthetic would not knock me out is wrong on every level.

I was admitted recently for day surgery, at Queen Marys. Outstanding care from arrival, until I left. Such dedication and professionalism from all staff involved in my surgery. Bonus to chat and meet, with anaesthetist and surgeon. Credit to all on the day. Felt at ease ,cared for at all times. Thank you so much to all. Best wishes

  9. Review titled I couldn’t have asked for any more

    by Cre8tive - Posted on 01 September 2023

I was so worried and extremely anxious going in for surgery but as soon as I arrived at the planned care unit I was greeted with smile and the promise to be looked after. Absolutely everyone who I spoke to was friendly, honest and compassionate. I was an absolute wreck going in as I’ve never had any kind of surgery before but I was given anxiety medication to help and plenty of tissues. The nurse that gave me my gown and knickers lol didn’t mind when I must have asked a million questions as I kept forgetting what I was doing. My bags we tagged as I was a little worried leaving my phone and glasses but everything was perfectly fine. The surgery team were calm and friendly and found common ground conversations while putting me to sleep. This really helped me to be relaxed and I could feel I was in good hands. I really shouldn’t have worried though. Everything went to plan and once I came round I was given a new type of care. Nothing was too much and I’m just so grateful to everyone that was involved with my care. From the nurse that kept providing me with new sick bowls to the discharge nurse who was playing with my son who was excited to see me. I couldn’t have asked for any more and it’s not as scary as I thought it would be. To anyone that reads this, thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care I received, and to anyone going for surgery, you can have peace of mind that you will be in the best care.

  10. Review titled Uncertain waiting for routine injections

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 July 2023

Still waiting for my mum to get an appointment for her injection in her eye. Now the list is reviewed weekly it seems and people called with a date but we have no idea how long it’s likely to be. In the past we were told she must have these regular injections to stop her eyesight from deteriorating.
