Review titled Visiting parents in an emergency
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 12 January 2025
Visited today, great receptionist, helpful and appreciated my situation. Somewhat a little defensive nurse. Made the error of saying dhu to be told we are not dhu. Well it was when I was a clinician with Dchs. I don’t need to know the Drs gone home sick either. Is that not confidential. I’m Visiting from France, urgent visit to UK due to father being admitted to Rdh and I didn’t bring enough of my own meds, tried 111, chemists and urgent care cte. I understand it’s my fault. But definitely a reluctance to help and I can see why A+E are so busy, told to go to A+E for my meds and register with a temp GP. I’ve my tablet boxes ( anxiety meds and pain relief ) but nobody willing to prescribe. Is it really that difficult to issue a prescription when I’ve the empty boxes with me. I know that I have to pay that’s not a problem. Again receptionist was so kind. Thank-you I will just remain in pain and get more depressed.

Review titled Shameful assessment

Attended 03/12/24, saw gp last week, analgesia and physio for painful knee. excruciating pain this am, struggling to walk. Advised by gp receptionist to attend urgent care centre for x-ray. waited almost 4 hours to be seen, checked over by a nurse, who went for a colleague opinion. He advised paracetamol. I had been on codeine without effect, needed an x_ray. The Male practitioner said would not x-ray as I had not "injured " my knee. I clearly require an x-ray. How any one can leave a person in such excruciating pain is beyond me. Having worked as a health professional for over 40 years, I have seen today how bad the care in the NHS has become. Totally shameful.

Review titled Disappointed staff very rude

So I went to emergency care Sunday with a swollen face especially my eye, to be fobbed off with them saying it’s a dental problem and they won’t help me despite me telling them I am on chemotherapy and need antibiotics! I went to a different hospital who diagnosed me with cellulitis and have me emergency antibiotics throughout IV! So I won’t be going here again!

I had called 111 - I was having a bad reaction to antibiotics and felt very unwell- 111 got me an appointment within the hour I was seen very quickly and I was checked over with total professionalism, understanding ans care Fortunately I was ok and had to let the antibiotic out of my system, rest and fluids I cannot commend the staff highly enough - all a total credit to the NHS - thank you for being there for us

Would like to thank all the staff for my experience at your walk in centre today. A special thanks to you know who. Who had to take my toe nail off and he made me feel right at ease. He was very professional but entertaining at the same time. Your lucky to have him

Review titled Long waiting times
Rated 1 star out of 5

After arriving with a referral from the GP the advice shown on the information wall suggested every patient was seen by triage in the first 15 minutes of arrival, an hour later triage was completed. A number of patients clearly in a lot of pain and distress had been waiting over 5 hours to be seen by a practitioner while others were in and out of the UTC within an hour of arrival. After a four hour wait we were still not seen by a practitioner and decided to leave and seek medical treatment elsewhere.

Review titled Poor Communication
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Alan Cox - Posted on 06 March 2024
I am trying to contact Ripley Hospital X-Ray Department to arrange for an x-ray requested by my consultant at Derbyshire Royal Hospital. When I called the Ripley number there is a recorded message which is so quiet that I cannot hear it. Pressing 2 got me through to the ward who said that the problem was known about. Why has the problem not been fixed? I called again and pressed 3 which happened to be the correct number for the x-ray department. There was a message informing me that my call could not be answered and requesting that I try again later. After my fifth attempt in one hour I gave up. How on earth am I supposed to arrange an x-ray if there is no way to leave a message?

Review titled Fantastic service, we would be lost without you.

This is the second time in 2024 that Ripley Urgent Care have offered very much needed medical care to our children when the GP surgery has been unable to help us. One of this occasions resulted in a transfer to children's A&E such was the severity. The staff are efficient, kind and friendly as well as extremely knowledgeable and professional. I can sleep easy knowing that your service is there for the occasions when our first point of medical care is not available to us. You are absolutely invaluable, thank you.
