I was admitted on Saturday 09/03/2024 and I was diagnosed and treated very efficiently before being transferred to a different hospital. All of the staff where fantastic and treated me with the utmost respect and dignity, there friendliness put me right at ease.

  2. Review titled Kind and Caring Staff. Excellent facility.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lyn - Posted on 13 March 2024

The staff were amazing, every single one from the consultant to the nurses, receptionist and snacks lady, treated me with kindness and respect. They knew I was terrified and explained everything, gave me time to ask questions and I felt safe, comfortable and reassured. The bronchoscopy was good, I barely felt it, a small moment of coughing and then I watched it on the ultrsound screen. More sedation was available if needed. Department was clean and the recovery room had lovely soup and sandwiches. Not going to mention the parking lol but everything else was exactly as it should be, the NHS at its best. Thankyou.

  4. Review titled Incorrect information on website

Rated 1 star out of 5

We are encouraged to avoid a&e where possible. Visited pharmacy and was advised had an infection and needed antibiotics. Went to urgent care centre at Wigan Infirmary at 18:40 to be told they close at 7pm and do I would have to go to a&e. This website stated that it is open 8am to 11pm. I am now at home waiting for a call back from 111 as I did not feel that needing a prescription for antibiotics justified clogging up a&e.

  5. Review titled Nursing care in difficult conditions

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Ann Murphy - Posted on 20 February 2024

I was taken to Wigan infirmary via an ambulance due to a head injury following a fall. Ambulance came promptly. Triage took place on arrival. I was placed in an area on a corridor. I received excellent and timely investigation and treatment. The nurses, doctors and kitchen staff were helpful and friendly. Yes it wasn’t ideal on the corridor with lots of noise and through traffic but I was so glad I was being care for. Due to lack of sleep I was allowed home and monitored by the virtual team. People may complain about the conditions but the only thing I didn’t have was a bed. It all clearly needs sorting out but I couldn’t have received any better treatment. Especially thanks to them all working in such conditions.

  6. Review titled Fantastic throughout

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Carol Ashall - Posted on 08 January 2024

I went to A&E after calling 111 and being given ambulance outcome. Made my way there rather than taking an ambulance. I was short of breath and had already had a coursenof anti bi and steroids and no improvement. Was seen at triage and sent to Urgent Care Unit. Had blood tests, x ray and given nebulizer. Rather than be admitted and have to wait for a bed I left with a different anti bi and increased steroids with and appt for the next day in Same Day Emergency Care. Left there with even more steroids and 2 inhalers. Next day got a call to go to Wrightington for a CT scan of my chest. I cannot fault any part of the service I've received, from the speed to the follow ups happening. These departments are amazing.

  7. Review titled What a wsit

Attended A&E with disabled daughter, who had fractured her patella. After being assessed and treated, we had to sit in the corridor for fifteen hours, for her to be reviewed by assessment team, as she lives alone. No beds available. Other patients we talked to, had been sat in chairs/wheelchairs for between two and three nights. It is a sad reflection of where the NHS is, at the moment This is not a criticism of the staff.
