Review titled A heaving A&E but great treatment
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Marilyn Wallman - Posted on 09 April 2024
My husband fell yesterday whilst playing walking football. He was knocked unconscious for a while so we had to go to A&E, on a Monday! There was a huge queue as the place was heaving. But I mentioned his age to the receptionist and he was triaged very quickly. We were there for nearly 8 hours, which wasn’t good but his examination was thorough- a shout out to the junior female doctor and her Senior doctor. All staff once we were called in were very good. However, A&E could be better organised. For an hour there was only one person on reception while another was training. I realise that training must be done but surely receiving patients must be a priority and especially on one of the busiest days? Additionally, there seemed to be no filtering of the more serious problems, unless you were brave enough to cheat the queue. I had to wait in line with my husband, who was shaking from shock, in a wheel chair whilst younger and more able patients queued before us. But a big thanks to all of people who saw him from the receptionist to the nurses and doctors you did a great job but please get a working party together to see if you can improve waiting times. There has to be a way, even if you are understaffed.

Dear Mrs Wallman, Thank you so much for your feedback and we hope your husband has recovered well. We have passed your comments on to the ED team and managers, to make them aware of the issues regarding the reception staff and queuing to get to the desk (as well as your kind comments about the staff). We will follow this up with them to see what changes have been implemented. Best wishes, Patient Experience Team

Review titled Outstanding standard of care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Isaac - Posted on 12 April 2024
Came in, very anxious and fatigued, for an urgent appointment after a 111 call. Staff could not have been more patient and warm towards me, and the department was immaculate. Procedure itself was efficient and as comfortable as possible. Was made to feel at ease, all my questions were answered and came away feeling well looked after - and noticed. We really don't deserve these amazing people :)

Review titled Brilliant care
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Ben - Posted on 22 April 2024
My dad and I were made very comfortable in the Pain Management Unit, were seen immediately and given every bit of care possible during the appointment. Everyone was so professional and where we've had past issues transferring there was no problem that wasn't willingly and efficiently overcome today. Even when we needed help adjusting the seating position of my immobilised dad when passing one of the team in another area of the hospital he was more than happy to help, even in his own free time. What a nice guy!

I had a kidney stone, and the guys at Royal berks in Reading dealt with it brilliantly. Everything went to plan, the nurses and doctors ate absolutely superb at putting you at ease, and when I returned for the stone to be removed I was in and out in a flash. I cannot praise these guys enough. Thankyou so much!

Rated 4 stars out of 5

We have turned up today for emergency at Eye casualty, to be told they dont open for another half hour. Can you please update the RBH and NHS websites with the clear opening times for Eye Emergency/Casualty. People wrongly assume the times are as stated for the eye clinic which they are not. Thanks

Review titled Was great, now impossible to get help.
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by GezMa - Posted on 18 March 2024
Over the decade or so I've been wearing hearing aids Royal Berks Audiology and the BeMore app have been brilliant, responsive and helpful. Now though, the new and I suppose 'improved service means I am getting no constructive help and that is making it almost impossible for me to continue working. One of my aids has broken and will not switch on so needs to be replaced. So I can lose a day's pay and book an utterly pointless appt, and expensive waste of nhs resource too, and go to RBerks to confirm my hearing aid needs to be replaced - but here's a shocker (not) the lead time for that waste of time is more than 6 weeks, yes, six!! The BeMore app won't let me report because one of my saids won't turn on, so thank you. My household budget thanks you, my customers thank you, my social life thanks you, my private life thanks you, my driving safely thanks you. All in all great job, no, really. I guess the figures look good though eh.
