    I went into Royal Blackburn for a heart procedure ( Cardioversion )on 22nd March this year to stop my atrial fibrillation but was told my thyroid was not regular and needed treatment before I could receive treatment for AF. Five weeks later, no communication from endocrinology as my heart worsens. Why? No dates given . No communication. This is not patient care!! When will I get the care ?!     I had been referred for a keloid removal as its been causing me a lot of pain - I saw the consultant in March 2023, had my pre-op in Nov 2023. Now 5 months later still not had my procedure. I’ve attempted to contact numerous times, no one answers. I’ve left numerous voice mails, no one rings back. Just pure ignorance at this point. Extremely disappointed to be on the receiving end of this, really showcases the NHS value & morals towards their idea of patient care.

    Tried to contact the department and was on hold for over 1 hour without an answer. Apparently the MIR reception is open until 19:45 hours. No answer from 16:02 until 17:24. Tried again from 17:31- 1750. Still no answer, this is why so many people miss there appointments because they are unable to get through. There is absolutely no excuse for not answering the phone for such a long period off time. Why not have a email contact so at least you could leave your issue that way and the staff could pick it up when it suited. New management is definitely needed.

    Visited opthalmology today. Fantastic service. Opthalmology at Blackburn Hospital have been treating me for the past 2 years. I can honestly say that the treatment they have provided has been top quality. Great service and the nicest professional staff I have ever met. Thank you aii.

    My husband completed a course of chemotherapy at The Royal Blackburn Hospital yesterday. Because of other conditions I was able to stay with him and we were both so impressed with all the staff and the care they gave him. The nurses were very reassuring, extremely competent and so friendly. In-between sessions there was always someone on the end of the phone to help and advise. We can't thank them enough.

    Attend A&E Friday 6/1/23 was attended to prompt by friendly helpful staff. Each department Cardiology and Radiology and of course the helpful guy at the entrance to A&E reception all great. The Doctor in Cardiology and all the team thorough and thankfully was given the all clear. Even in this busy NHS times I did very well at getting seen too. Thanks everyone. Toni Astley

  7. Review titled Still waiting to hear back

    Had a biopsy on my lower leg week before Xmas , said I should hear something back between 6/8 weeks, they passed so I managed to find a number to speak to someone, who assured me that they hadn’t forgotten about me and would hear something soon - wrong! Now currently at 4 Months later, still nothing, leg no better too. I give up with the NHS.

    I went to a&e and was admitted to a ward c22 then i went to b14 and spent a week in hospital, I just want to say thank you to all that was involved in taking care of me, you were all excellent, I take my hat off to all the staff for the work they do and the things they put up with and always do it with a smile and such care.     High volume A & E, dedicated staff, long waits. Went in for wrist and face X-rays, competently done, showed badly damaged eye socket and fractured wrist, but unable to get referral due to time restraints.

    Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your recent visit to the Emergency Department at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital with a badly damaged eye socket and fractured wrist. It is lovely to receive such positive feedback regarding the dedicated staff and we are delighted to pass this on. However, I am sorry to hear of your long waiting time and we have fed your comments back to the senior staff and the Head of Nursing- Emergency and Acute Pathway. Confirmation has been provided that in line with other Trusts, the Emergency Department, Urgent Treatment Centres and Minor Injuries Unit are all experiencing a huge influx of patients attending and have seen waiting times exceed the 4-hour target on a regular basis. While our staff working incredible hard during difficult and unprecedented demand there has also been delays in transferring patients to inpatient beds because of the acuity and their clinical need, which needs to be met within a hospital setting and this has impacted on waiting times and the number of patients waiting in the department. The number of patients waiting to book into our Urgent Treatment Centres has also risen dramatically and we have seen long queues stretching outside of the hospital foyers which is unacceptable but unfortunately not always unavoidable. We are currently striving to implement additional tools and services to resolve this situation and ensure we deliver safe, personal, and effective care to all our patients and reduce the distress and frustration caused due to long waiting times.
