Review titled The teamwork displayed by the entire staff was nothing short of fabulous
by wateryd65 - Posted on 19 December 2023
My daughter recently underwent a procedure to create space for her braces at the orthodontics clinic. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly and professional receptionist. The entire experience, from interacting with the fantastic nurses, the orthodontic team, the anaesthetist, and the surgeon, to the aftercare team, was exceptional. Every step of the way, my daughter received exemplary care and was treated with the utmost respect. The team was thorough in their approach, taking the time to explain every aspect of the procedure to my daughter. They provided clear instructions, ensuring she was well-informed, and also took the initiative to reassure me as a parent. The entire staff demonstrated a first-class and superb level of professionalism. I particularly want to commend the aftercare lady. She is truly a godsend and deserves recognition, perhaps even a medal. The teamwork displayed by the entire staff was nothing short of fabulous. The aftercare and support were excellent, and the documents provided were clear and comprehensive. Before any procedures or agreements were made, everything was explained thoroughly, including details about medications and self-care. Thanks to their efforts, I couldn't have asked for a more anxiety-free environment for my daughter's treatment.

Review titled My recent visit to A & E - pass on my gratitude
by TONYPA - Posted on 23 December 2023
I was treated promptly, courteously and with great efficiency after my unannounced arrival. All the staff I encountered at every stage of my diagnosis (which was for a large lump as a result of a recent pacemaker implant) were beyond praise, as a result I now feel absolutely fine and looking forward to Christmas. I would be grateful if you passed on my gratitude to all who looked after me that morning. Having completed a full examination, I was sent home at 1.15 pm. So much for all the bad publicity that A & E departments have been having in recent weeks.

Review titled The nurses were very helpful and cheerful
by bluetg34 - Posted on 12 January 2024
The nurses were very helpful and cheerful. I am concerned about the operation as when I have anything in my eye I have a noise like thunder in my ears which makes me close my eyes, what worries me is if I get this at the time they are operating I may move my eye, I was hoping that I could be sedated.

Hopefully when you have your pre-assessment for your upcoming surgery, you can discuss your concerns with them and the possibility of having sedation. Review titled Dignity and caring staff
by Anon1966 - Posted on 12 January 2024
I was referred to the Rapid Access Prostrate investigation and diagnosis clinic following concerns of a raised PSA. I attended the clinic and despite being there earlier than the time given I was seen almost immediately. After giving a urine sample for tests I was then seen by the specialist nurse and consultant. They spoke to me about the reason for referral and I was given an intimate examination. Following this they told me there was no immediate concerns but would refer me for a MRI for further examination, which takes place this week. From the time of arrival to the time I left took no more than 30/40 minutes. The three members of the team that I saw were very professional and I felt I was dealt with the dignity and care the situation deserved.

Just prior to Christmas I was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit as an emergency where I had to stay and have tests prior to transfer to Derriford for surgery between Christmas and the New Year. The care and support I received whilst on the ward by all staff was wonderful and helped me through what a really frightening and difficult time. A huge thank you to all staff on the CCU from me and my family.

Review titled Expertise, compassion and care was exemplary
by Alimtayl - Posted on 05 January 2024
My gratitude goes out to all those involved in my treatment after hip dislocation whilst on holiday in Cornwall the end of Dec. From the ambulance crew, A&E, the orthopaedic team, anaesthetists and caring staff on Trauma 2. Expertise, compassion and care was exemplary thank you all A great example of teamwork and the NHS at its best. I have unfortunately had to use the services of the NHS in recent times and the Royal Cornwall is the best care I have received.

Review titled I was made to feel ignorant and irrelevant
by castorfn87 - Posted on 01 December 2023
I was referred to the Mermaid Centre at Treliske by my GP. The nurse I initially saw was very professional and friendly. But I found the doctor/consultant who examined me afterwards extremely rude and unprofessional. I felt they spoke to me as though I was an imbecile with no common sense and my appointment was over in less than five minutes. I feel the level of care in the conusltant's conduct was minimal and they had no tact when conversing. I was supposed to have a biopsy and scan (the nurse informed me) but was told my appointment was over after a brief examination. I was made to feel ignorant, irrelevant and like I was wasting the consultant's time.

ted by castorfn87 Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I am sorry that you had a poor experience. As care opinion is anonymous, and we have a large team, shared with surgical and imaging staff, we would find this hard to follow up specific concerns. If you would like us to investigate this more thoroughly, please can we ask you to contact our dedicated Patient Experience Group, where we can ask for details of your attendance. Phone 01872 252793 Email rcht.patientexperience@nhs.net Your response will be shared with our senior teams. I hope this is not your experience for any future attendances within the department or wider hospital. Best Wishes Glenda

Review titled My partner of 23 years
by Njs84 - Posted on 23 December 2023
My partner had a heart attack at home , from the amazing paramedics to Treliske hospital in Truro the care was brilliant. Unfortunately my partner was on life support for three days at the critical care unit. The staff here were incredible. The two nurses and consultant that cared for my partner, to the support and compassion they should me and all of the family was remarkable and will never be forgotten. A very special team of people. After three days my partner passed away. Leaving not only me and the family but two beautiful young children. A support worker came to help me with this situation as we had young children and gave me three teddy rabbits to link the girls with their dad and a book explaining all that had and was going to happen. Without this amazing gesture and support, telling our children would have been harder and by using these resources it all happened so naturally and were so helpful in explaining all that had happened to their dad. I will never be able to thank the amazing staff for those three days. The two nurses were very special ladies, who do this job day in and day out , will always stay in my mind because they made such a traumatic experience so dignified and supportive. The NHS has such bad/ negative press at the moment but I can’t thank or praise the critical care team at Treliske (Royal Cornwall ) hospital anymore they really are a special, professional, caring team. So a massive thank you from me and my family.

Dear Njs84 Thank you for your kind comments, it is always a pleasure to care for our patients. We all send our condolences to you and your family at this difficult time. Our organ donation specialist nurse kindly set up the teddy donations for patient's with young children. I am glad that your two little ones have found some comfort in them, I will pass this on the her. I hope that they have managed to find a little joy over Christmas, despite it being their first without their dad, and I hope you have all the support you need too. Sending positive thoughts and best wishes for the coming year.
