Review titled The birth of our daughter.
by gruspd53 - Posted on 04 April 2023
When my partner went into labour and we were advised to attend the birthing unit. We arrived at about 430pm. We were seen and assessed immediately and quickly moved into the birthing unit. From the moment we walked in the midwives and support workers were incredibly professional, kind and hugely supportive. We were looked after supremely well and it really felt like a 5 star experience. Everyone there was attentive, the facilities were very clean and modern and the team there are a real credit to their profession and to the hospital. Thank you for offering such great care!

Review titled This is not the kind of service one should receive
by Baz1610 - Posted on 24 March 2023
I am a patient at the eye department at Treliske. I have diplopia and received excellent treatment. I was provided with a pair of glasses with a prism which corrects the double vision. Today I put on said glasses and unfortunately the arm of one side of the glasses broke off. I called the eye department to organise a replacement pair and was quite abruptly informed that they don’t supply glasses. I tried numerous times to try and convince the receptionist that the department did supply the glasses with prism. But they weren't having it and became quite rude. The receptionist spoke to a colleague, who was also unaware that glasses were provided. I asked to speak to someone else, but they informed me that no-one was available and that I had to ring back in the morning. This is not the kind of service one should receive from this hospital. I believe that your receptionist certainly needs retraining on aspects of what equipment is provided to patients. I am truly disgusted and now have to suffer with double vision until I can get a replacement.

Review titled 10 out of 10
by giraffejx88 - Posted on 29 June 2023
I visited the eye department where I thought the service was excellent. I was seen by very friendly and efficient staff. The treatment I have received has been fantastic , the only thing I would change would be how you send out appointments by text. They are far too complicated . All you need do is send the appointment through with will you be attending, yes or no? There is no need for passwords in my opinion. However keep up the great work that you are doing in these challenging times . 10 out of 10.

In terms of professional care of the highest standard ,this is what greeted me to day at the Tralisk hospital.Every member of the team from special arrangement for car parking,I amnot mobile ,to reception ,provision of wheel chair ,the pre med team,to the hands on procedure medical ,the multi racial team were all for one and one for all, where the patient is number one.The hospital slogan is we care ,every body lived up to and beyond .This made receiving an enema and camera up the bottom almost dignified. Also thank you to the line management for their leadership as team leaders, some thing to be proud of.

Review titled We had a really good laugh and the job got done!
by Russell16 - Posted on 20 February 2023
I arrived 20 minutes early for my appointment and was seen nicely early. The lady who was charged with taking photographs of my eyes had her work cut out - it soon became apparent that I found it nearly impossible to let anything come near to my eyes. Despite my bravest efforts I found it almost impossible to keep my eyes open as instructed. My torturer was fantastic, putting me at my ease with good natured encouragement and easy humour. Despite my discomfort, we had a really good laugh and the job got done! I wish I had taken in her name as she was the perfect person to undertake the work. Big thanks!

Review titled Thank you!
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Was admitted by A&E with blocked ileostomy. The A&E team were very kind and got me a bed in Esu. The Esu team and Stoma team are exceptional and I left a few days later. The whole experience was frightening at times but they are just amazing and I’m so very grateful. The Stoma team were so reassuring and incredible. Thank you to all.

Review titled I can’t fault the experience & treatment by staff.
by waltzrd69 - Posted on 06 February 2023
I was booked in for a hysteroscopy procedure to investigate bleeding after menopause. Every member of staff involved was kind & professional throughout, starting with the staff member who first greeted me & who put me immediately at ease. Her role was to focus only on me throughout the procedure which she did with genuine care. She spoke & listened to me as an individual & as a result I felt very taken care of. The consultant explained clearly everything that might happen during the procedure & continued to explain everything she did; I was not taken by surprise at any time & understood what was happening & why. The consultant took a biopsy as planned; my experience of this was mildly painful but very short-lived & manageable. I had taken ibuprofen in advance as recommended which likely helped. Everyone involved was kind & reassuring. Whilst the procedure was not exactly something I was looking forward to - I can’t fault the experience & treatment by staff.

Dear waltzrd69 Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback about your experience. It is lovely to hear how cared for you were by the team, that they were so kind and caring and ensured that you were fully informed of the procedure. The teams work hard to try and minimise any worry or anxiety for their patients, and to make them feel as comfortable as possible during a procedure, they very much appreciate all feedback. I will ensure that your kind words are shared with the team. Thank you again, and I hope that you have recovered well thanks Tash Natasha Trewhela (Matron Gynaecology)

Review titled Bed in middle of bay
by tkf123 - Posted on 01 March 2023
I work for the NHS so fully understand the pressures we are facing. However my Dad was recently in AMU with no official bed space. He was in the middle of the bay in what is being referred to as a Boarders bed. He was admitted on a Wednesday and was in this bed space for 2 days. He is not going anywhere as is awaiting an Angiogram. Besides the issue he had no privacy or dignity, he was also blocking a fire door. How is this safe? The staff are amazing and clearly working under massive pressure. None of them seem to think it is a good idea but I have spoken to them and they are unable to move him when a normal bed becomes available ( which many have) as he is the most stable patient in the bay. I appreciate this but what happens if he does have a heart attack? There are no oxygen or suction points, and no call bell. He wanted to change his pyjama bottoms having been in hospital for 3 days and had to stand in the middle of the bay in his underpants. I attempted to close the patient nearest hims curtains to give him some kind of dignity but the patient was not very happy. I explained my Dad has no curtains of his own. My Dad is fully competent and has full capacity -but is breathless and experiencing chest pain whenever he moves so needs some of his own space and privacy. He witnessed another patient having a cardiac arrest on his first night and was able to tell me every detail - how is patient confidentiality being maintained when one bed is within centimetres of another. Privacy, dignity, confidentiality are these not our code of conduct. Please tell me how this has been allowed to happen. I re-iterate all the staff have been wonderful and so kind to Dad but they shouldn't be working in these conditions either. I am so disappointed and upset for my dad.

Dear tkf123, Thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. I was very sorry to learn of your dad's experience of being placed in a bed in the middle of a bay. It is really disappointing that because of this, his privacy and dignity has been affected and this is not how we want any of our patients to feel. I would like to assure you that each ward has been reviewed and any associated risks recorded, with those areas with specific risks such as infection control, not used for this purpose. Fire risks have also been reviewed as part of this work. There is also criteria for some very poorly patients to not be put in this type of bed. We know that the situation is far from ideal and I apologise for your, and your dad's experience during his time on the ward. If you would like to raise your concerns formally, please speak to the Patient and Family Experience team (Complaints) using the details below. I have shared your feedback with them already so they are aware. I have also escalated your feedback to the Head of Nursing for the area so they know about your dad's experience of being placed in one of our boarding beds. Tel: 01872 252793 Email: rcht.patientexperience@nhs.net Thank you again for taking the time to bring this to our attention, and please accept my sincere apologies that your dad has had to experience this while he has been a patient on AMU. Best wishes, Jess
