  1. Review titled Really impressed

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2024

We were sent to A&E due to my dad failing and being on blood thinners. Apart from the triage nurse (who was testing everyone over the high counter and appeared quite rude) the rest of the staff were amazing. They were caring and considerate, and ver patient with my dad, who has Parkinson's too. I was impressed by them asking about his medication rimes and the treatment we were given. Everyone from the Consultant to the Porter and Cleaner were really friendly. 5 star service. Thank you!

  2. Review titled Failing autistic patients and not meeting needs

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 February 2024

Was referred to urology about a year ago by my GP. After multiple attempts soon after with the PALS team asking them to meet my needs as an autistic patient in terms of communication and information to no avail, I eventually just gave up. Appointment letter arrived in the post the other day about 1 year on! Disgusting wait for health care. In that appointment letter, it asked me to book some blood tests for the 31st of January. I received the letter (dated 26 Jan) on 3 February! They allowed 5 days for the letter to be delivered and for me to book a slot for a blood test. Insanity. Not only that but I was unable to attend the appointment I had been waiting a year for because it was dated a week from when I received the letter and this was not enough time for me to prepare for this being autistic and arrange for transport etc so I have had to try and re-arrange, which is proving impossible. I have emailed the PALS team multiple times informing them that I struggle with telephone calls due to sensory and communication issues and asked them for their help via email in having this appointment that I have waited a year for re-arranged. No response. What now will happen is that I won't be able to attend the appointment and have told them I want to re-arranged and can't and then the hospital will reply on here asking me to contact the PALS team (with a phone number I can't use) in order to have my concerns addressed! This hospital are a prime example of a service who bang on about diversity and inclusion but don't actually provide for any of either or meet the needs of disabled patients. Communication is dire. Information provision is dire. Common sense absent. Managed incompetently.

  3. Review titled Dismissive

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 10 January 2024

I usually have nothing but praise for children’s A and E but I went in with my 4m old on recommendation from my health visitor that day. I found the person who came to see us extremely dismissive and made me feel guilty for being there. I certainly didn’t want to waste time. She couldn’t be bothered to really ask why I was there-took observations and then triaged me. I appreciate that they are busy but I didn’t feel heard and felt like I and my child were an inconvenience when I am really struggling with her health.

My father was treated on ward 405 sadly his condition deteriorated and he passed away. In the last 2 days the doctors and ward staff could not have been more compassionate and considerate to my family as we spent time with him. They were so caring towards him, keeping him comfortable at all times. Please pass on my family’s thanks

  7. Review titled Ward 216 Derby Royal Hospital

Rated 3 stars out of 5

Being Discharged from room 2 today. My review is for the whole staff on the ward. Having stayed in a few wards I have to say what an exceptional team, genuine care, pride in their work, happy always, have time for you and in my own experience never an issue to assist. Whilst there were a few I interacted with more the whole team needs to be recognised. Doctors and team, the nursing staff and who could forget the catering ladies and cleaning. You all made my experience more calmer, comfortable and your smiling faces mean more to your patients you will ever understand, never stop doing this as these days it’s rare to find a cohesive working environment with people who actually care no matter what the patient’s ailment. Press a buzzer they are there. Pop your head out they call your name and say xxx are you ok. Think they should provide training across the hospital and share their skill set and character. Thank you Team. You’re simply the best xx

  8. Review titled Total disbelief

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Beverley carrington - Posted on 05 December 2023

I attended A&E with my friend who is a cancer patient. She carries a card to get immediate treatment. We were put in a side room with other cancer patients who had been waiting 10 hours plus to be seen, this is quiet simply not good enough, these very vulnerable patients having to endure this. I was left in total shock people treated like cattle abhorrent

  10. Review titled Wonderful and The Light in the Dark

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Vicki Finch-Adams - Posted on 22 December 2023

I have had to have surgery twice in 55 days at this hospital, and the care, skills, attention, and just incredible staff are sent from heaven. My planned surgery and urgent/ emergency procedures not only went smoothly, the nurses and doctors here tend with such warmth and openness I felt secure at every turn. I can never thank them enough, if I were a millionaire I would reward them that way, and as I'm not I shall always continue to support them in every way I can. Simply the best, my family also send their deep gratitude for all you've done for me. I can't recall every name, but faces of kindness and supreme professionalism are etched in my heart forever
