by Terryheart - Posted on 27 October 2022

Pacemaker Box Change at Taw Ward RD&E, and follow-up at NDDH Physio Outpatients I experienced excellent, professional and friendly care and follow-up especially Andy & Eve, Theater Clinicians at Taw Ward, Exeter. The whole process was well organised from the operation through to the check-up and monitoring registration. Please convey my thanks

  3. Review titled Excellent care and genuine concern

    by MarkS22 - Posted on 20 September 2022

I had a funny turn on sleeping tablets and landed up on Exeter station from Yeovil having little idea how or why I'd made such a trip late on Friday evening. The police and ambulance staff were concerned and sent me to the ward where I received excellent care and genuine concern. I told them I was epileptic and on meds for it and felt disorientated but not sure I'd had a seizure. My thanks go to the ward staff, too many to name for their top class care. One in particular, made a long effort to find my bank card I'd left on my bed when leaving, without which I'd have been stranded. I thanked her with a hug. And RD@E deserves praise from what I've seen.

  4. Review titled Amazing Ambulance team and A/E Department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Grateful Patient - Posted on 17 August 2022

On arrival at A/E we waiting in a corridor for approximately 30mins the ambulance lady stayed with us and kept updating us of the situation. All staff were pleasant and polite and did their best to keep our spirits up. My husband was examined and tests taken, constantly updating up and explaining what was happening,we waited almost two hours for blood results, but I have no idea how long that procedure takes. Everyone we came into contact with, was effective and efficient despite obviously all working very hard great under pressure Thank you all

  5. Review titled The whole staff team made my stay a relaxing experience

    by soilbp78 - Posted on 08 September 2022

During my 3 day stay on Dart Ward I was treated with great care from an exceptional staff. The medical team treated me with compassion, respect and could not do enough for me during my treatment. The ancillary staff were very pleasant and competent. In fact the whole staff team made my stay a relaxing experience. My thanks and best wishes to all

Thank you to the Doctor who saw me Sat night/ Sun morning. A&E are clearly understaffed 7hrs to be seen! When finally seen, the doctor was very professional, caring and took time to treat me. The staff are great, but we need more on duty.

Cardiac Arrest. The staff are amazing. The team were the best of the best. Explained in detail what was happening and supportive all the time to myself and family. Wonderful, caring, genius people. Many staff could learn from this team they are the ultimate in great NHS service. They are what all the NHS should be aiming for.

  10. Review titled Poor experience in the Dialysis Unit

    by Devsb78 - Posted on 01 November 2022

I was transferred to Wonford Acute Unit from Southmead Renal Unit after my kidneys failed. I had spent a lifetime seeing Southmead and never wanted the transfer. I only wish I had not. My experience was one of absolute disbelief, staff that no longer acknowledged me when arriving for dialysis after I confronted the nurse in charge for accusing me of lying about a condition brought by a serious motorbike accident many years prior. I felt alienated and that I was being lied to. Staff appeared to barely acknowedge me. It got that bad that I stopped attending my dialysis. I was transferred to Barnstaple. I arrived there and they had not even transferred my care, they knew nothing about me. My line is not working correct. My bloods are not good. Again, it seems, I was another patient who suffered the poor care and stigma of the staff. I had a doctor make me feel like I was nothing - they indicated that they did do not see the issue with my kidneys as they had seen ones that were a lot bigger. Then they had the absolute nerve to call me "hun" after making me feel like I should not be there. I have been left with the most horrid memories of a time that I would never repeat. I have cancelled the appointments made and I am due to return for a right nephrectomy next month. I would much rather take my chances. I have never felt so low, so belittled, completely in disbelief that the nurses attitude towards me was so poor come the end. I do not believe the department had checked the machine used for the fistula check from the day I had it fitted, or had followed the correct protocol, knowing I was being discharged elsewhere. This experience has left me absolutely in fear of even opening up. I left AMU on one occasion after hearing staff members laughing at a dementia patient. Being left for many hours without pain relief and feeling snapped at by a nurse and asked what I wanted them to do about it. Having to request that the staff wear their PPE when they approached me. Night staff where laughing, shouting and messing about until a male individual really shouted at them at 01:00. I am in utter turmoil by my experience and one that has left my health very very poor and they are supposed to be the best of the best.
