Review titled Great response after being hit by hospital car park barrier
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by David Green - Posted on 01 March 2024
Having been injured by the Hospital Car Park Barrier having come down on me unexpectedly knocking me to the ground & causing wounds to my head and ear, staff from the hospital and some nearby paramedics and a couple of the general public tended me on the ground where I'd fallen someone from the critical care unit accompanying me via a wheel chair to the CCU within a few minutes where I was given immediate treatment- to head wound and ear abrasion - before being taken by taxi to the A & E Dept. at the Northern General where I could be given a scan of my head - I being on Apixoban and other heart/blood related drugs. The response of the staff at Hallamshire were excellent. I have a scarf provided by a member of the public to help stop the bleeding when I was felled by the barrier but don't know who she was and would dearly like to give it back to her - all the blood now having been washed out of the very excelent and expensive scarf by my wife. I should also much like to thank the nurse who arranged for me to be taken to the CCU and made all arrangements to be quickky seen and then taken to A&E at the Northern General. Very impressive. En passant I think steps should be taken to try and ensure no-one else gets clobbered by the Car Park exit barrier - there is no separate footway for people exiting from the car park level I had parked on so there remains a danger that others could be hit in future when they walk under the barrier if it drops down as they pass unbeknown under it. Please do pass on my appreciation to any and all of the staff who helped me particulary she who master-minded things from when I was first felled to the ground by the errant barrier who also ensured that car park staff cancelled my car park ticket so I didn't have to pay for my car's overnight stay!

Review titled Can't get in touch
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Carla Hufton Barber - Posted on 15 January 2024
Referall made August 2023, I've surpassed the 18 weeks. I'm told to get in touch however the number listed 0114 2266901 states is unavailable. I try the various offices listed on the NHS gastroenterology web page all messagebank stating not at desk. How do I get into contact with someone regarding this referral? The issue is impacting my health negatively and escalating as time passes. Gp surgery said give them a call and had no ideas about the number to do this on...

Review titled Absolute disgusting attitude
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 01 February 2024
Took my mother to the ENT department, finally in hopes that the doctors may be able to give an explanation or even come up with a solution in regards to her issue- my mum has been in contact with her doctor several times, and was in fact referred by her doctor to have this check up done. Unfortunately, the doctor that we saw was rude, and very unprofessional. She didn’t introduce herself when she came to the room, and the first thing she said was “what’s the problem today?”which I find very odd and a little rude. When we told her she was referred by the doctor, and what the issue was, it seemed as if the doctor had shut her brain off, and was not paying attention at all as she then asked the same question about a minute later. She then continued with the routine procedures, told us there’s nothing wrong with her and just walked away. If a member of staff cannot maintain their professionalism and show an ounce of empathy in such a situation / care setting then maybe they need to revisit their training or even reconsider whether this job is correct for them.

Attended on 31/01/2024 for nerve conduction studies, the doctor who carried out my emg was nothing but reassuring and lovely, he even went above and beyond and dis some extra testing for me. The nurse assisting him was also lovely and very friendly and chatty. Was so nervous before but everyone involved made me feel totally relaxed and at ease. Thanks to all in the department

Review titled Professional and kind team on the Stroke ward.
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 December 2023
My Dad was taken to Stroke ward L 2. All the medical professionals we came into contact with were kind and caring. While we were waiting, one of the nurses kindly made him and my Mum a cup of tea. My Dad was also offered something to eat, which during these stretched times for the NHS we didn’t expect at all. My Dad received the care he needed and we are grateful for the level of kindness. Thank you L 2.

Review titled No care
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 18 December 2023
the medical care at hallamshire is brilliant but actual care is zero. buzzers ignored while staff chat at nurses station. patients hardly spoken to and not helped to wash or get changed. Medications to aid comfort forgotten, food forgotten, basic comfort and cleanliness of patients forgotten. give any pay rise to domestic staff who do the nurses share of patient care.
