  1. Review titled Room for improvement

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 October 2024

Front desk and waiting room support was lovely. Quite admirable. Sadly, I experienced very different practice during my face to face treatment. I was seen by a fully trained clinical nurse. She expressed very strong verbal and visual displeasure that a Consultant her own colleagues had referred me to, had responded with written recommendation for acute joint pain-management. The consultant, an eminent professional in his own right, had as requested by her own department based his findings on MRI and x-ray work on request if her own department. It was nevertheless impressed onto me in tones of unfair chastisement and lack of joined up thinking at my RLI rheumatology appointment, that the overarching purpose of any rheumatology service is to assess/warrant and gain patient consent to biologic drug trialling, in isolation. She advised she would further objections at a multidisciplinary review, absent of the documentary medical information provided at this appointment from the Consultant and equally absent of any consenting patient.

I was advised to attend A and E today. I arrived and was treated with compassion and dignity by all staff from start to finish. I cannot thank the staff enough for my experience as they were so thorough and caring and listened intently to what I said. I will recommend the lovely staff in A and E to anyone who I feel needs their care . Thanks so much for your help and support today you were all brilliant.

  4. Review titled Extremely grateful

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Glynis Wendy Hilling - Posted on 08 August 2024

I visited the dermatology department a lancaster royal infirmary yesterday. From the moment I arrived, the lady in reception, the doctor and the nursing staff all made me feel extremely welcome. I had two visiting specialist nurses with me and they were very impressed how friendly and knowledgable everybody was. I have been really nervous to attend hospital for biopsies, but the friendliness of the staff at lancaster always puts me at ease when I arrive. Please thank everybody who helped me yesterday. It’s lovely to know that with a rare condition, I have help locally rather than travel miles for my day to day care. I also know that any treatment I receive is necessary treatment. It said on here I cannot mention names so I will have to rely on the people concerned knowing this is for them The only criticism I have is that it is so difficult to find somewhere on the websites just say something positive about the hospital visits. It’s taken me ages to find this page. It seems it’s very easy to complain but not easy to put something nice. When I clicked on find a local hospital service near me, it took me to preston and my postcode is lancaster. I just wonder how many people give up before they can find this page. Also, it does not allow capital letters and it’s nearly impossible to use speech to type without it putting in capital letters. Please make this more disabled user friendly. Some of us cannot use our hands to type

  5. Review titled Excellent Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Margaret - Posted on 07 August 2024

I attended A and E today and was referred to the minor medical unit. All staff were very helpful and I only waited a few minutes to be triaged. I waited about 10 minutes to see a Doctor which is very good. The Doctor I saw was professional, exceptionally thorough in obtaining all the details about my eye problem and courteous. A brilliant service.

  7. Review titled Exceptional team

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Paula D - Posted on 04 June 2024

Excellent communication. Seamless in their teamwork which gave me confidence when I was scared. Very reassuring about the procedure and what to expect. Informative at the appropriate level of detail. Respected my privacy and dignity at all times. Superbly included the students in what they were all doing - looked like a great learning environment. At the end of the procedure the Dr even drew a simple diagrammed to aid understanding which was much appreciated. Everyone explained next steps really clearly. Although I could see how busy the department was, it was friendly and kind. The nurses were informative and made the ending of the appointment make sense rather than feeling rushed. Thank you to all.

  8. Review titled Main switchboard

Rated 3 stars out of 5

    by D Robinson - Posted on 19 June 2024

I have telephoned the main switchboard this morning on 9 occasions over 30 minutes and on 9 occasions it has rung out and cut off. When I finally got a response I was told they were busy. As the main general hospital serving a huge population I find this banal answer quite frustrating and unacceptable. This does not inspire confidence. Vey disappointed with the main switchboard service.
