    I would like to thank all the people I came into contact with during my recent treatment within the Colorectal Department at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. I cannot praise them highly enough from the surgical team through to everyone I came into contact with on the ward. Their professionalism, empathy, understanding and generally just making me feel safe during my time with them and not forgetting their fabulous sense of humour which was so fantastic. Thank you all for everything, I really appreciate how hard you all work and I am so grateful.

    I had food trapped half way down, rang 111, they rang the A&E dept, sent me in and once there I was seen in 5 minutes, where two nurses attended me, on taking blood and the other fitting muscle relaxant drips, again within 5 minutes of me arriving. I was there for 3 hours while the problem was sorted, but was monitored and advised al the way though. Best A&E service I have ever had. Big thank you to the team.

    I attended with my sixteen year old daughter who needed an ultra sound scan. I was told first by the nurse who called her that I couldn't come in room with her. I asked my daughter if she wanted me in there. She said yes. I said she's under 18 so I'm coming with her. On entering room I was again told by the radiographer that I wasn't allowed in. Again I said my daughter is 16 abd she wants me in the room. I was told I cpuld stay but they would have to pull curtain across. I felt this was really odd given my daughter is under 18 and requested I be in the room with her. The attitude of the staff was awful and made me feel like I was doing something wrong. Anyone is entitled to have a chaperone at appointments and especially minors under 18.

    Staff on ward 4a were so caring and kind the entire time my nan was in hospital. Each day we got to see the impact they had on my nan and how comfortable she felt with their care. As I can’t name names I will leave a separate review internally but the nurses, health care assistants and also the Pallative care nurses who came to ward 4a for my nannie- thank you for everything. You made an incredibly hard and sad time with my nan a little bit easier as we knew she was being well taken care of. Thank you so much. You are a credit to yourself and I wish you the best for the future. M Walsh Family - Bed 9

    Went due to the recommendation of the walk-in centre, only to wait in an overcrowded waiting room filled with aggressive and loud drunks that smelt of urine for 4-5 hours while they berated people and were generally disruptive. Security were as useful as a chocolate teapot. When we finally got seen the doctor (respiratory dept) were incredibly rude, dismissive and apathetic towards the issue, and regardless of the concerns raised did not seem to have the want nor care to take the issue seriously, blaming it on issues that were absolutely not the cause of it. Evident that patient file wasn't read either as questions being asked would have been on the file. Showed us the door without so much as acknowledging there was a problem.

    I attended my appointment and was seen first by the specialist nurse and joined later by the consultant. I was feeling very nervous and worried about my results. They were both very compassionate and quicky made me feel at ease. They are both examples of why the NHS is rightly the envy of the world.

    Following a setback from a procedure earlier in January when I was on Ward 7b as no room on Ward 5b, (see previous review), I actually ended up on Ward 5b for 5 nights. I cannot sing the praises enough of all concerned for their manner, professionalism and physical and mental support. It astounded me how different this experience was yet again from previous experiences in another hospital. I can't thank you enough, I can't mention names on here but to the nurse in charge of me in room 22 on 5b on 7th February and all involved from 2nd to 7th February 2024, including Doctors, pharmacists, nurses, cleaners, HCA's, food service assistants and students, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for the second time in 5 weeks. Amazing people.

    I entered the room told her I was a student nurse and I have done an ecg before she looked at me blankly and stated for me to undress she went back around the curtain and I could hear her whispering with whoever was on the other side, she come back round done the ecg and went back round to start whispering again, then saying “stinky girl” loud enough for me to hear. I would normally ignore this but the fact I know I had layers on that day I had rushed to get there and sat waiting and sweating I may have smelt and I did feel asif she was talking about me, even if she was talking about somebody else was that the right time to make such a comment? I was really anxious anyway to have to be exposed to a stranger and then to hear whispers and comments only exacerbate my anxieties and self worth. I was nervous incase I had a man doing the test but now maybe that would have been better than the woman who seen to me. I want staff in the cardio respiratory unit to be reminded that curtains are not sound proof, words hurt and if you want to make comments (which shouldn’t really) at least wait until they have left the room.

    I had a surgical procedure and should have been under Ward 5b for urology, but due to bed restrictions, I was placed on Ward 7b, which is Kidney and Nephrology. I was in room 22 from 4th to 6th January 2024. My experience from booking in until discharge 2 days later could not have been better. Doctors, nurses, cleaners, catering staff, hca's, students, discharge team, porters, and pharmacists and the maintenance guy were all so kind, pleasant, understanding, caring, and professional I hope I haven't missed anyone. I hope you all read this because whether day or night staff are all amazing. Thank you so much. The food was as good as you could expect. Responses to nurse calls were prompt. Everybody did what they said they would when they said they would. Nothing was too much trouble, like finding me biscuits or cereal in the middle of the night and making me tea to order. The room was exceptional, tv, en suite, quiet and clean. I relaxed and was able to switch off for periods of time for once in my life. Thank you all so much. Just need the parking sorting now.
