  1. Review titled In the best of hands

    by Zoe23 - Posted on 18 January 2023

Firstly we ended up at the wrong place - ward 217 - but the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and a particular nurses escorted us to our correct destination, chatting to my daughter all the way. At the Poswillo unit, every member of staff was amazing. The anaesthetist, the surgeon and the nurses all explained every step of my daughter’s tooth extraction and showed her the surgery before the procedure - something that they must have to parrot several times a day, but it wasn’t robotic but felt personal. I honestly can’t praise them enough for what a relaxing experience it was. Our dedicated nurse (I missed her name unfortunately) was absolutely lovely. If anyone is going or taking their child for a tooth extraction here, you’re in the best of hands.

I just wanted to leave a review and say thank you to all of the staff who looked after me during my stay on ward 227 after my motorcycle accident,I can't thank them enough for making a very tough and stressful time much better, they were extremely professional and skilled in their work but also very friendly and down to earth so much so I was actually a little sad to leave, all I can say is thank you and keep up the good work!

  3. Review titled Excellent care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Helen Townsend - Posted on 04 January 2023

I called 111 on the Boxing day. After describing my symptoms to them, they booked me into Royal Stoke A&E department for 10 am. On arrival, I was quickly triaged by a friendly kind nurse. I waited a short time to see a doctor, who got a second opinion from a consultant. I got an examination, medication, blood tests and results all within 3 hours 15 minutes! Everyone was very kind, caring and efficient. I wanted to send a plaudit as I know there is a lot of negative press around emergency care at the moment. Thank you and I really appreciate you being there on Boxing day.

  4. Review titled I'll never be able to thank you enough

    by Finn's Mum - Posted on 13 January 2023

My little boy was admitted at the end of December and we were terrified. He had had a seizure at home for the first time ever and honestly it felt like our world was being ripped apart. All the nurses on PICU were so kind, calming and professional. They truly care about the children they are looking after. Even from picking the right bedsheet design and gown, and popping tiny gel pads under my boy’s ankles so he doesn’t mark from lying still so long. They might say “it’s just our job” but it’s so much more than that to us parents. You made a horrible, scary experience so much better for us and I’ll never be able to thank you enough for the kindness you treated us and our boy with. I felt so kept in the loop, so cared about, and so confident in their care of him that I actually managed to rest whilst there which I haven’t been able to do at home (so a special thank you there). Nothing was too much trouble for them, and when he was finally awake and no longer intubated, the phenomenal care continued. One nurse even managed to make him a tuna mayo sandwich at 6am because he was asking for one (it’s all he eats sandwich-wise due to ASD). He wasn’t scared when he woke but greeted by smiling happy faces and reassurance from his nurses. So much so he wanted them to cuddle with him in his bed! That was our first and hopefully our last visit to PICU in Stoke, but honestly the trauma was significantly minimised by the wonderful staff that work there. Thank you endlessly.

  7. Review titled Fantastic maternity care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Frances Bott - Posted on 22 November 2022

I was rushed to Stoke hospital while I was visiting family in Stafford. The service on the assessment unit was quick and efficient. I was quickly moved to the delivery suite, there were no delays. Medication was quick, we knew exactly what precautions were taken and why. I felt safe and comfortable at all times. Stoke is not my local hospital or maternity team, so the midwife at the hospital called my local area and maternity team to discuss what had happened. I was kept in for 3 nights to check everything was OK because if I went home, I'd be too far away to come back if things went wrong. I really appreciated the fact that handover was swift and all information was clear between handover staff and for us. I felt very taken care of even when I was so panicked that I couldn't think straight. I honestly wish I still lived in Stafford so all my treatment could be here. A huge thank you to everyone that helped us, we will always be so thankful.

  10. Review titled Superb

My adult daughter was admitted to pod3 critical care with head injuries. She has learning difficulties and autism Wow! The staff here are amazing! So supportive of my daughter’s additional needs. So compassionate and clear in all their communications with us. Lots of staff dealt with her and every one of them gave this level of care. Even on the difficult days. I could go on more but definitely made the worst days of our lives easier to deal with
