  1. Review titled Very empathetic clinician and staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Trevor Combes - Posted on 15 March 2024

As a retired dental surgeon and clinician I was very impressed by my experience today. The doctor I saw is to be praised for his kind professional manner and explanation of my condition, and its treatment. He will go far, in my opinion! All the staff were a joy to come into contact with and were a credit to a well run NHS department.

  4. Review titled Exceptional care & dedicated Healthcare professionals

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kathryn - Posted on 13 April 2024

I'd like to express how grateful I am to the Intravenous Nurse Specialist, the Radiology Doctor, the Gastroenterology Consultant, all the Nurses on Millbridge Ward & the staff in Interventional Radiology, who worked together to coordinate multiple aspects of my extremely complex care, which resulted in a successful inpatient admission, and a favourable clinical outcome. In my opinion, Royal Surrey ought to be rated: "Outstanding" by the Care Quality Commission, as these highly skilled individuals went out of their way to plan, schedule & facilitate the treatment I needed, within a 2 day period (which included a Saturday!) It's hard to adequately convey just how much of a difference it makes as a patient, to arrive on a ward & be greeted by familiar faces, as it immediately creates a feeling of reassurance, trust & safety, thanks to the family-feel atmosphere. It was very apparent that staff at Royal Surrey truly do care, despite the immense pressure & challenges faced by the National Health Service on a daily basis. The questions I had were all promptly answered in a very caring manner, every single interaction I had was positive & I was kept fully informed throughout. At several of the other Hospitals I regularly attend, I'm very sad to say that this isn't always the case anymore, especially since Covid. This inpatient admission was by far the best I've experienced at any Hospital, in a very long time, and staff at Royal Surrey really do deserve recognition for the incredible job they do, in the face of such overwhelming adversity. Royal Surrey Hospital is a shining example of how healthcare services should be delivered, and staff are a credit to the Trust. Thank you, sincerely!

  5. Review titled Sensitive swift clinical assessment

    by Rosie M - Posted on 29 April 2024

Our mother was in the dying phase but it was recommended she be transported to A and E for additional assessment. This meant travel by ambulance . The crew were excellent and kind . Once reaching A and E we naturally needed to wait to be assessed but it was not long before a cubicle was found. As time went by. I requested my mother was seen swiftly as she was terminally ill. The A and E sister on duty plus the registrar were outstanding. Despite other distractions they sensed the urgency for a clinical decision and assessed she could go home. It potentially meant she could have died in A and E or the hospital and would have been in appropriate as her wishes were to remain at home to die. As it was rather than wait for an ambulance to take her home from A and E with the sisters help we transported our mother to our car and got her home quickly and safely tucked up in bed. She died a few days later. These two clinicians are excellent role models for the NHS. Despite many pressures in their clinical setting they responded to the individual needs of my mother and we will always be grateful. We would like to thank them personally too for revalidation evidence of their clinical care . Thank you very much.

  7. Review titled Out standing Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mary Laker - Posted on 21 March 2024

I arrived at the A&E dept. on Friday 15th of March. Feeling a little anxious. But I was put at ease immediately. All the staff I met were reassuring competent and were very capable. I should have liked to name those I met but they will know who they are from a very grateful patient. Long live the NHS.

  8. Review titled A Department in Disarray

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 24 September 2024

My experience with the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department at the Royal Surrey has been the worst Nhs experience of my life. It took the department 3 months just to look at the results of my Mri. 3 out 4 appointments have been cancelled at least once and some twice. One appointment was cancelled only 3 hours before. They failed to show up for a telephone appointment on one occasion. They seem to have only one knee consultant and they have greatly reduced their hours so the wait time is at least a year and there is no initiative to move patients to surgeons or hospitals with less of a wait time. My experience is that it is poorly run and no one is motivated to fix systemic problems. Even a doctor told me "its clunky but there's nothing that can be done."

Dear patient, Thank you for providing feedback on your experience of our Trauma and Orthopaedics Outpatients department. We value all feedback from patients and their relatives as it helps us to keep improving our services and we take this feedback very seriously. We recognise our ongoing challenges due to our booking system and departmental leave. In order to address this, work has been undertaken with our clinics, ensuring that all clinic builds are correct and patients are in the correct slots. We wish to assure you that we have more than one knee specialist, allowing us to manage our caseload of patients however waits do remain. We are working to reduce this. Whilst on the day cancellations are rare, unfortunately they do arise due to sickness and emergency theatre, and we apologise for the inconvenience this causes. Please can you contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Team (PALs) to enable a further discussion and support if required. The team can be contacted on 01483 402757 or by email at rsc-tr.PALS@nhs.net. Thank you. With kind regards, Elaine Kavanagh, Matron for Accreditation and Patient Experience

  9. Review titled Great medical service

Rated 4 stars out of 5

I was a patient under the insomnia team, with the help of my clinician/therapist I was able to better understand sleep and how it affects you and other factors that affect it. I was able to learn and put to use tips with helping me get into a better sleep pattern and able to sleep a bit more normally. Very helpful and supportive therapist. I would highly recommend this service. I definitely have achieved some goals whilst under this service.

  10. Review titled Amazing service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Allison Granger - Posted on 23 March 2024

I visited A and E yesterday having hurt my ankle. I was registered, seen by a minor injuries practitioner, had my ankle x-rayed, seen again by the same practitioner who gave me helpful advice and I was ready to go home in just over an hour. Fortunately it was only a bad sprain and nothing was broken. Everyone I came into contact with was kind and helpful. I would just like to thank all those staff for their care and concern. I couldn’t have wished for a better experience.
