  1. Review titled Pharmacy service and OTSEc directions

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by John Dabill - Posted on 03 February 2025

The pharmacy service is awful. Waiting over an hour for medication as a cancer patient is ridiculous. I was told waiting time would be an hour i left the hospital to minimise exposure as a cancer patient. As it was it took nearly one hour and 20 minutes leaving me no choice but to remain in the hospital waiting in a corridor with hundreds of people passing and with a weakened immune system. Even the nurse who saw me in Oncology prescribed the drugs passed me and was surprised I had been left in this situation. I notice pharmacy isn't even listed as a department in the lista of this form On a related matter please advice the Otsec accute. Oncology to stop directing people to Otsec which is not on any signs and most hospital staff I asked had no heard of it. Instead ask them to direct patients to AMU which is on the hospital navigation signs. It is again ridiculous to have cancer patients wandering around looking for somewhere that is not even signposted. Luckily the wonderful receptionist did know where it was and she was the one that directed me to amu.

  2. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Chloe O'Byrne-Millard - Posted on 10 February 2025

My dad came in with pneumonia and los potassium on Monday, managed to burst his spleen by coughing! So had to undergo emergency surgery. The staff in ICU were incredible, despite being super busy they made my dad feel comfortable, I felt welcome every time I visited, they were caring and attentive. The consultant even shook my hand and everyone always introduced themselves and gave me a run down on what was happening with my dad. They'd always go out of their way to get me a chair (which I of course was happy to get myself). They were informed and always had a positive manner. Even putting up with my dad's jokes and stubbornness/independence. My dad means the absolute world to me and I have had the worst few months so knowing he was in safe hands was so reassuring. You all deserve a massive break and I am just so grateful. Everyone is wards was the same too. I just can't thank you all enough.

  4. Review titled Great practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Linda gill - Posted on 04 February 2025

Admitted to the surgical day unit today for elective foot surgery. The whole process was smooth running. As a retired member of staff, it is easier for me as I known the routine (in Theatres!) but the staff took nothing for granted and ensured I was aware of the process thro' the Unit. More importantly I saw how the Staff interacted with other patients ,and what the patients' said out of the nurses earshot. It was all very positive stuff . Well done and thank you to the ward, recovery and theatre staff. The Surgeon and Anaesthetist were exceptional too. Please pass on the comments to the staff on duty today, 4th Feb, and to the theatre 2 staff . Many thanks

Please pass on my thanks to the nurse in A&E who guided me through the process when I self referred this morning. I think I left without adequately doing so myself. The service was excellent, as it was on the one previous occasion. Patrick Mannix, 17 Feb 1943

  6. Review titled Good but did not meet expectations

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 03 February 2025

I attended the Royal Surrey County Hospital for an MRI scan. The staff were courteous, I was dealt with promptly and all seemed to run smoothly. However, contrary to what was promised in the pre appointment literature, nobody spoke to me at any stage whilst I was in the scanner, I could not hear the music which I had been offered and the staff member to whom I subsequently spoke could give me no idea about when results might be available. I found the lack of human contact during the scanning process particularly disappointing given the somewhat daunting sense of isolation whilst in the scanner.

  7. Review titled Great treatment today

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rosemary Sheppard - Posted on 09 February 2025

Thank you A&E for superb treatment today. I am sorry I didn’t check the name of the nurse but she was brilliant and thorough in her treatment of my bruised face after a fall in town. Also the radiologist was very kind doing the xray. Thank you so much.. we were home in about 2 hours. Very grateful.

  8. Review titled MyCare Patient Portal

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 05 February 2025

I got a few texts asking me to sign up to MyCare Patient Portal after a trip to A&E a couple weeks ago. I just signed up, and noticed my allergies were not listed on my health record. I tried to send a clinical message to amend my health record but every time I try to start a new message it says page not found. Please fix this. I did state my allergies when I visited A&E so I'm surprised they're not listed, especially since my blood pressure reading is showing for that day.

I had to undertake a colonoscopy at the Royal Surrey County Hospital's Endoscopy Unit at level H earlier today. The service by every member of staff was excellent from the moment I arrived at reception. Thank you to all the staff and much appreciated.

  10. Review titled Dedicated staff with amazing empathy and tireless patience.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sheila Blanco - Posted on 22 January 2025

I had to come to the Royal Surrey County Hospital by ambulance at 1.00am (Friday 17th January) Staff were very attentive but I wasn't seen until 8.00am, then told my episodes of losing control of my right hand and arm were matters for my family doctor. That was the least good experience of the next few days. I had another episode that evening at home, so on the advice of paramedics was taken again to Accident & Emergency. I was attended by one of the doctors who was extremely thorough and insisted I stayed overnight for more Computed Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging brain scans. In total I stayed 3 nights in Acute Medical Unit, so was treated by many staff, who I cannot speak highly enough of. (I have never stayed in hospital for any length of time, apart from the birth of my children.) Several very seriously ill patients were admitted to this ward often during the night. The staff remained so cheerful and supportive. Medically, I understand the way forward for me. My bed was comfortable; my food was perfectly acceptable and hot. One thing that dismayed me was the behaviour of one patient's family who expected special treatment, day and night. The National Health Service has to run a tight ship; there is no place for individual entitlement. I am immensely grateful for all the kindness and professional help I received.
