  1. Review titled Waste of time

Rated 1 star out of 5

My daughter who lives in Brighton she just came back from this hospital very disappointed and in pain. She went there with throat infection, fever and feeling sick and the triage nurse said it will be 12hours before the doctor will see her. And this happened at emergency hospital...I'm horrified and very worried now because where else to go?

Dear Patient Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately your details are anonymous so we cannot get in contact with you. Unfortunately at this time the emergency services are very busy and delays can occur of many hours as life threatening illnesses and accidents are prioritised. I would suggest that your daughter contacts her GP or contacts 111 for help. You can also call our Patient Advice and Liaison Service on 01273 664973 or 01273 664511 or email uhsussex.pals@nhs.net who will look into your concern for you. They are available from 10.00am to 3.00pm, Monday-Friday. Jo Yearsley, Patient Engagement and Liaison Manager

  2. Review titled Amazing.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Toby ray - Posted on 10 December 2023

I broke my ankle about two weeks ago and wanted to leave a review for everyone at the Royal Sussex County Hospital who saw me and helped me. Firstly, from the day I went to Accident & Emergency, there individual staff/nurses who were amazing and kept me very reassured and comforted. Going through to my follow up appointment, the nurses and doctor were extremely helpful and jovial which made the nervousness of my appointments dissipate. Finally, the nurses in the Emergency Ambulatory Care Unit on Sunday 10th of December were particularly amazing. They took every approach to make me feel cared for, comforted and looked after. In particular two who looked after me (I won't name names) were so patient and wonderful to be around, even taking time out of their busy schedules to sit with me for five minute just to chat and get to know me. Thanks again, Royal Sussex County, you were great. Toby Ray.

  3. Review titled Humane and thorough treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris Giles - Posted on 28 December 2023

All staff were polite and attentive as well as extremely skilled as they treated my wife for concussion and shoulder injury. They coped immensely well in very trying circumstances: many needy patients and a crowded waiting room. All were a credit to the NHS and the hospital

  5. Review titled Great care and service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 15 November 2023

I was brought to A&E by the paramedics who kindly kept me in touch with my daughter. I was quickly booked in to A&E and seen by a Doctor. I had heart and blood tests very quickly, as well as an X-ray - all within 90 mins of arriving. I was kept informed throughout and informed of what was happening next. At 91 years old I was filled with dread about being whisked in to A&E but everybody was friendly and helpful, including a cuppa and biscuits on offer!! My daughter was also made to feel welcome. Before being discharged the Doctor walked us through what they had checked and provided after care advice. It was clearly very busy in the unit, but they did a great job on Tuesday 14th Nov afternoon - thank you! Anne

  6. Review titled Staff and Doctors

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nigel Carter - Posted on 14 October 2023

I can’t really put it into words but the care I was given in the cardiac ward of the Royal Sussex Hospital floor 10 room 4 The staff were so caring and nothing was to much trouble even covering my legs in the night while I was asleep so I didn’t get cold. The cleaning staff, the kitchen staff and all the doctors and nurses and the surgeons and the teams that helped me. A very big thank you to everyone. Nigel Carter

  7. Review titled Brilliant service (again!) on the vascular ward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Chris - Posted on 28 October 2023

I had a 2nd vascular procedure in 2 years and was cared for on the 8th floor of the Thomas Kemp tower. The staff were really good, so caring, and made the time far more bearable. Before being admitted I saw that the hospital has been rated Inadequate by the CQC and seeing this beforehand made me quite anxious, however once I was admitted I would never have been able to tell there are any problems at all. I just can't understand how the hospital can be considered Inadequate as they were absolutely amazing to me and the people I witnessed them caring for. The quality of care is fantastic and all the staff seemed to be really invested in providing a great service - there are some truly wonderful staff working there doing such an awesome job. Thanks again for some brilliant treatment and, in the nicest way possible, I hope not to visit again.

  8. Review titled Critical Care - Literal Lifesavers

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Lily Williams - Posted on 22 November 2023

I don't know how I would ever express the thanks and the love I feel for the ambulance staff, the A & E staff, the Critical Care Unit or the Cardiology unit for the care they took of my father recently. Without them, and especially the critical care unit, I would not be spending this Christmas with my Dad. The new unit is incredible, and they are without doubt all literal life savers. I hope I don't ever need to be back in critical care, not for myself nor anyone else, but if I am, I know I am in good hands. Thank you, from the bottom of my very being, thank you. You will never know how eternally grateful I am.

  9. Review titled Amazing staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Gavin - Posted on 31 October 2023

Despite the NHS being in a mess like a lot of public services, the staff at the Royal County in Brighton are fantastic. I was admitted for four days and they all deserve a medal for what they do under stressful understaffed conditions with added unappreciative abusive patients as I witnessed at first hand. Thank you for making my stay comfortable and for always lifting my spirits with smiles and great personalities. You deserve better for what you do so thank you to each and every one of you.
