  1. Review titled Brilliant nurse AMU ward

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Nathan Webster - Posted on 16 September 2024

I wish I could put her name but the nurse this morning was amazing working on the AMU ward, she helped me with my resident and provided fantastic support too. Very lovely to talk to and very nice and I felt so at ease with her assisting with my resident. Bubbly personality and fabulous character I would 1000% love to work with this nurse and would confidently allow her to look after anyone I know as I know they’d be in great hands.

  6. Review titled Disappointing experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Ash - Posted on 30 August 2024

I attended the A&E with my 10 month old child late on the evening and most of the staff were rude and seemed like they couldn't be bothered to be there. One health care assistant was very helpful when taking my child's observations and was the only member of staff that actually interacted with him. The triage nurse was rude and dismissive and didn't even acknowledge my child. I understand that he is a baby, but it was the childrens A&E department. Information clearly wasn't passed on between members of staff as when we finally did see the doctor he didn't know what the problem was. He did a very poor check over of my son and then told us it was 'probably' a viral infection. He gave no information on what to do about his symptoms or medication to give and told us he would get a nurse to take a urine sample. We waited for this to happen while all members of staff sat behind the desk on their phones and made no effort to do this. In the end we asked if we could get it done through the GP and they said okay and we left. It turns out my child had tonsillitis and had a temperature of over 39 degrees for the next day until I could get a GP appointment where they gave us some antibiotics. I would not return here if you paid me and I definitely wouldn't recommend coming here.

  7. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Danielle - Posted on 16 August 2024

My experience on the maternity unit was brilliant. The staff work so hard to provide a excellent service and it was greatly appreciated by myself, partner and new baby. Having had my baby via c section and then readmitted due to an infection 5 days later I have seen almost all aspects of care they provide. They were always prompt with answering nurse call buzzers, answered any queries I had with compassion and patience and they were very kind and friendly From the kicthen/domestic staff, the CSW's, midwives, theatre staff, security staff, doctors, they were all phenomenal! I should imagine the security staff do a thankless job and don't get the credit and recognition they deserve, so a special shout out to them! Thank you guys!

  10. Review titled Disappointed

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 July 2024

Would not normally not bother with having a say but on this occasion I feel it would benefit all who visit the site and those that work there too. I applaud the efforts made to be in a position to erect signage and proclaim to be proud a smoke free site. However the number of individuals stood within feets of the entrance with smoke blowing past the signage presumably to prevent this was astonishing, especially when there are members of staff, ambulance operatives, security guard, just wondering past whilst the individuals blissfully continue to exhale smoke into the paths of many who without choice have to pass by. It not as though it's not obvious it's happening, with the shear number ends littering the walkways and the small mounds of cigarette ends gingerly piled on top of the rubbish bins. I can only hope my little concern for those who have to visit may encourage some action to be taken to educate further the reasons for initially making the site smoke free. Look forward to hearing from you. Appreciate your time, thank you.

Dear patient, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience at Russells Hall Hospital. The Trust does have a 'Smoke Free Policy' which clearly states that smoking is not allowed anywhere on site. This applies to Trust staff, volunteers, contractors and PFI staff as well as patients and visitors. I am sorry you had to witness people smoking outside the main entrance. All managers and security staff do try to move smokers away from the entrances when patrolling the areas. Regrettably, requests by staff for patients and visitors to cease smoking or to move is often met with contempt, hostility, or aggression. Ultimately, if members of the public refuse to stop, the security team can be called to escort people off site. I appreciate you bringing this matter to the Trust’s attention. Your comments have been passed onto the relevant team. Kind regards, Patient Experience Team
