Review titled Colorectal team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Karen Litherland - Posted on 22 July 2023
Our mum was diagnosed with colon cancer and the treatment she received from the whole colorectal team was second to none. Fantastic surgeon who did a fabulous job, kind and caring staff who made her hospital stay easy. We had contact names and numbers and any queries we had were answered thoroughly. We can't thank this hospital and team enough. The efficiency and speed that everything happend at was amazing with our mum now recovering at home from a successful surgery that lasted six and a half hours. We heard yesterday that she is now cancer free and we literally cannot thank this team enough!!!! Amazing, each and every one of you.

Review titled Couldn’t ask for better care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sarah Procter - Posted on 30 July 2023
Having fallen down some stairs the night before, my partner and I arrived at Salford Royal A&E department around 10am. We were seated for about 15 minutes before I was called to triage. The triage nurse booked me straight in for an X Ray and after another 15 minutes I was brought down to have the X-ray done. Out to the waiting room and waited 25 mins or so. Then called in, put on a bed and a lovely nurse had a look at my ankle, gave me codeine for the pain and went to check the X-ray. Given a boot and crutches and referred to the virtual fracture clinic for a call in the Monday. Was given a full report of my visit and a booklet of recovery exercises. All in all, I could not fault this visit. It was in stark contrast to a visit to Trafford general last year with the same injury. During that visit, I was not offered and X-ray, just told by the nurse that he had done the same thing when he played rugby once and that I would be fine. Salford Royal were brilliant - professional, efficient and all staff had a lovely bedside manner which really matters when you are not feeling the best.

Review titled Fabulous Team
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Nilesh Gadani - Posted on 09 December 2023
What can I say about the care and treatment I have had from July to November from this fabulous team. The dedication and effort by the staff for the long term patients was outstanding. From checking into what I termed a prison, I checked out thinking of the place as home. Reassuring that the team were consistent in their staffing and day and night team overlapped seamlessly with no loss in care and attention. Love you all for everything you did for me and the family to make the stay easy and comfortable and continue to do so now as out patient. I would like to nominate the whole ward for the ethos / motivation / care they show all patients through their highs and lows. In an environment where patients are all isolating so have limited access to the outside world. Wish the team all a happy Xmas and a fabulous healthy new year.

We arrived at the hospital not knowing where to go but all the staff walking past asked us if we needed help . In the surgical room they put my wife at ease with calm words and a smile . What could have been a traumatic time was eased by all the nurses and surgeons. Thankyou Salford Royal .

Review titled Careless staff, with zero empathy
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 02 July 2023
I was taken in a room, which doubled as a changing room and a contagious waste disposal facility. The lid of the bin was open and on the lid and on the wall there was blood spill. The bin contained syringes and other medical tools, which were blood smeared. There were also other small medical tools on the floor of the same room. They made me wait in the room for 25 minutes with that contagious waste. I was then taken to the MRI room for a CT. I was visibly distressed at the sight of the machine and I asked the staff for information about the procedure. However the staff was dismissive and started arguing with me. Zero social skills, zero empathy.

I really couldn’t fault the process from arriving with a minor bite injury and being seen initially incredibly quickly, followed by swift treatment such that the whole visit lasted around two hours max. Many thanks to all of the staff at this unit who are delivering impeccable care and service to the community.

Review titled Lovely doctor, terrible service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 29 July 2023
I attended a & e on Friday evening with my 8 year old. Details was taken and I was told to wait for a GP this was at 8.45pm. The children’s area was full, there was drug addicts on the floor asleep and a lot of unkempt people in there. The general waiting room was full. We sat outside to avoid the carnage inside. As it got colder I came back inside and requested several times that we be moved to the panda unit as it was Friday night and it was getting rowdy. My poor 8 year old was in pain and nervous at the situation in the waiting room. Police started turning up with drunken people and I kept being told ‘you are next’. We wasn’t seen until 11pm! I am unhappy at the unhelpful receptionist that refused to let us move out of that waiting room and the very long wait time for a child in pain. When we did see the doctor she was absolutely fantastic and a credit to the NHS. I understand the NHS is stretched but to leave a 8 year old in that disgusting waiting room with the chaos is not on. I kept seeing children being ushered off to panda but we remained with the drug addicts and drunks.

Review titled Extreme pain in the night with no help available
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 09 July 2023
I would have done anything to stop my relative from being in extreme pain overnight last night in the major trauma unit, but there's nothing I can do from overseas. He had his neck broken in three places a few days ago, was given painkillers at 8p, woke up at 1am in agony, couldn't move and couldn't contact anyone because he is in a head and back brace. How much effort and time can it take to administer a pain killer and how can this happen in a hospital?
