  1. Review titled a&e and ward h2

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 06 January 2023

A&e is obviously struggling at this time but as my symptoms deteriorated quickly they were able to triage and sort out the necessary further checks at short order effectively. Everyone from doctor to nurse to the tea lady was wonderful in reassuring all patients, looking after them, and doing it with a smile during difficult times. When I was transferred to a ward, again I cannot fault the clinical staff. All did regular checks, established a treatment routine, helped with pain relief at short notice, did the regular observations as quickly and unobtrusively as possible and so on. Apart from one (I think) nurse who on the morning of 5 January made me get out of bed (I'm a R risk of fall) to collect a cup of tea from the door of the treatment room I was in as she would not enter the room for whatever reason. In the evening I was half way through receiving my treatment when my lovely nurse had to leave to help someone else. Some time passed, I buzzed to check if I had more pills to take and the same nurse who made me get out of bed to collect a cup of tea asked me short shrift what I wanted. I said I think I was due some medication. She responded "well I don't know. You'll have to wait for someone else. Can you turn off your buzzer light (again making me get out of bed to do it myself)." I daren't press the buzzer again in case it's her that comes back. She had the charm and compassion of a crumbling house brick. She has ruined an otherwise wonderful experience of caring, understanding, supportive and professional team.

Dear Anonymous Thank you for your feedback. Its great to hear that our staff were able to provide you with an overall positive experience. However I would like to apologise to you for the negative experience you did have. I have passed your comment onto the senior leadership team who will explore the concerns you have raised regarding staff who you felt did not deliver person centered care, which is something we aspire to do at all times. Should you wish to discuss this further, please contact the Patient Advise and Liaison Service on 0161 778 5665 or pals@nca.nhs.uk stating you have been told to do so via the NHS Website. Kind regards The Patient Experience Team

  2. Review titled Incredible care and attention from everybody we met

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by David Hibbert - Posted on 27 December 2022

Attended A&E with my 95-year-old Mother in Law (Freda Alcock) on Wednesday 21st Dec at approx 4.30 am. The level of care and attention was amazing from everybody we came into contact with. She had a CT scan and an X-Ray and visits from several care specialists during the 9 hours we were there. A truly uplifting experience in a moment of grave concern for Freda's health. Can not thank everybody enough on the shifts from 4.30 till 13.30 that day in A&E, the CT scan dept and Xray. we also had visits from a Physio who was extremely helpful. We are also grateful for organising the urgent care team to visit at home. Thankyou one an all !!

  3. Review titled My 6 day stay at Salford hospital

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Neil Grundy - Posted on 17 December 2022

I went into hospital on 8th Dec 2022 for a brain shunt to be fitted.i had my operation but needed to be re- positioned.the hospital had me straight back into theatre on the following day and corrected the surgery.i have previously had surgery in this hospital back in August 2020 for a subarachnoid hemorrhage so trusted the surgeon's.after surgery I went onto ward h7. The wards are very busy at this time but the staff worked so hard to help everybody as quick and efficiently as possible.i suffer with a brain injury and also have adhd and ocd so my stay in hospital can be very difficult for me.the staff listened to me and tryed to offer a quiet room where I could find a safe haven to take time out and allowed me to leave the ward for short periods if I needed to.the food was acceptable for hospital food and the facilities in the hospital with a shop and coffee shop etc was great.i think we all know how under pressure the nhs staff where during covid but they are still very much under pressure but they are working hard to give each and everyone of us the best care they can.i would like to thank all the neuro team for explaining all processes regarding my surgery both before and after my operation and also all the staff on ward H7.merry Xmas and thankyou

  4. Review titled Fantastic care at a very challenging time

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 December 2022

A few weeks ago somone in my care was admitted to Salford Royal as they were very poorly. The whole experience was made much easier by the care, support, dedication and flawless communication from the teams within the hospital. This processed helped ensure that the right care was given at the right time promoting independence and dignity for the person. As the owner of a small care home we have very little hospital admissions so when someone is in need of acute care it can often be difficult with poor communication and lack of engagement however this certainly wasn’t the case. The team on l4 did a wonderful job in supporting this individual and their family. Due to the effective communication we were able to ensure a timely discharge freeing up much needed hospital beds.

  5. Review titled Wonderful service in A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Yvonne Ratcliffe - Posted on 27 December 2022

I had to visit A&E on 26th December with my 81 year old mother who suffers with dementia and who had a suspected broken elbow. We were there a total of 7 hours but that passed by before we knew it. Mum was assessed by an A&E doctor, orthopaedic doctor and Registrar. She was taken for an x-ray and attended to by two nurses as well as being given a sandwich and drink. Everyone we came into contact with was caring, professional and extremely understanding. Mum was diagnosed with a fractured elbow and treated with the appropriate sling. What could have been a traumatic time for mum was made so much easier because of the staff's caring professionalism. I had an appointment at 09:00 today 5/12 and was seen exactly on time. I was then examined and talked through necessary treatment plan. Finally a prescription was issued and subsequently collected. Altogether a thoroughly professional and efficient experience and course of treatment. Many thanks.

  9. Review titled Cancelled appointments

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Jenny Jones - Posted on 08 November 2022

I was diagnosed in 2018, later found out I have multiple fractures in my back and 2 spinal conditions, this hospital is aware of my extreme struggles and have cancelled numerous appointments over the last couple months. The severity of my conditions is concerning and this hospital will not help me. I will be requesting an immediate transfer to another neurosurgeon in a different hospital.

  10. Review titled Fantastic efficient service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Joanne Reynolds - Posted on 10 November 2022

My son was rushed to A&E at Salford Royal last night with a badly dislocated knee. The service he received was fantastic, very efficient and friendly, the female doctor quickly ordered an x-ray and put the knee back into place. He was given crutches and they spent time showing him how to use them! The service was exactly what you would want from the NHS, from the ambulance crew to the triage nurse right throw to the doctor we’re amazing thank you so much!
