Review titled Excellence
Rated 5 stars out of 5

This breast unit is even better than you would find in a private hospital! Such a comfortable place to wait with chairs I would love to have at home as I sank down into the depth of them. Books and magazines to read, lovely lighting and murals making me feel relaxed and at ease. I saw 4 practitioners which included 3 medical procedures and only managed to get to page three of my book as so little waiting time in between. 35 minutes from start to finish and with very caring medical staff. I am so lucky to have this wonderful hospital!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

Accompanied a friend for an appointment at the Eye Clinic at Salisbury Hospital today and was impressed by all the staff’s friendly and welcoming manner and the calm atmosphere they maintained in an extremely busy and full on morning. The friend I was with was very nervous, but he was put at ease by all the staff he saw. Thank you.

Had an appointment with the endoscopy team for colonoscopy and gastroscopy which I wasn’t looking forward to but from the moment I checked in I was immediately made to feel relaxed about the procedure I was about to receive. The nurses carrying out the procedure couldn’t have been more helpful and I would just like to share my gratitude for making what could have been an unpleasant experience into a more than bearable one with there informative but relaxing way of putting me at ease, obviously a very professional team doing a very professional job many thanks

Review titled Great medical care, poor communication
Rated 3 stars out of 5
by Ann Cakebread - Posted on 01 December 2023
Arrived by ambulance (called by 111 responder) about 1am to A&E on Friday 17th November. Admitted to AMU. Very weak, retching. Diagnosed viral infection diarrhoea, unable to urinate. Blood sample results poor. Transferred to Durrington Ward in single room. Brilliant nurses busy saving lives in main ward unable to respond promptly to my help button. Disgusting diarrhoea left in tray several hours. Catheter prevented keeping myself and bedsheets clean. Humiliating. On third day a bowl of water and towel was provided for me to wash myself, but I was too weak to do it properly. On Tuesday 21st the morning Doctor told me she would get catheter removed and I could go home. Repeatedly, over most of the day, asked nurses to remove catheter but no response to my messages. Finally a nurse explained they couldn't do it without Doctor's authorisation and I told him what Doctor had said, whereupon her instruction was found in my notes. All staff extremely apologetic, and I stress that their sheer over-busyness means they cannot be blamed. An urgently pre-booked gastroscopy to check Barrett's oesophagitis was cancelled by Endoscopy. I was given the impression that this was because I was now an inpatient - causing administrative difficulties between departments - and not told it was because Endoscopy wanted me in good health and able to cope with any "minor nicks". I am grateful for the thorough blood-testing and complicated medication which has enabled me to continue recovering my strength at home. However, I do wonder whether better means of communication could be found, between doctors, nurses, other departments and patients.

i had a deep cut in hand . And from going in to the hospital i could not fault the hospital staff and the way they treated me . they were very talkative to let me know what was going to happen. And also after operation they kept in contact. So what i would like to say is thank you to all the staff who looked after me .

Visited with my son for mental health support. The waiting room was clean and comfortable. The staff were great and helpful and we were seen within 45 minutes for triage and half an hour after that by a mental health worker.

Brilliant hospital A&E was great, we had to wait a little, but not overly long. My husband was dealt with swiftly and with complete professionalism. The new lay out inside was well thought out and we could get a drink etc, and even charge our phone. The staff were all lovely, the areas were spotlessly clean. Well done Salisbury and thank you!
