Foot surgery. Can't thank and praise the staff enough, from my surgeon to the anaesthetist, nurses and domestics the care, compassion and friendliness was second to none. Every department was amazing. I appreciate every single member of staff who helped during my stay. Thank you so much

  5. Review titled Bad practice

Rated 2 stars out of 5

Rang 111 for my partner as he had teeth taken out from south sheilds hospital and his face swelled up 111 advised to go to hospital as he was feeling unwell when we arrived the gp in minor injuries was extremely unhelpful. His attitude was not good and I understand his is not a dentist but he did not even ask if he was feeling unwell or anything just said go to sunderland hospital as there is no dentist on site here and what was worse a little child before us was sick and when we walked In the room there was sick all over the floor no attempted to hide it or even clean this up just sat us down in between the sick. He provided him self with a mask but did not offer us one I think this is a totall disgrace.

  6. Review titled Ridiculous

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Daniel - Posted on 18 April 2024

I took my mam to a and e on a Saturday. Thinking it was gonna be busy and we'd be there all night . Turns out only 3 people were there so we thought we'd be about 2 or 3 hours at the most . Got seen quickly by triage who was a lovely lady and she even mentioned it quiet for a Saturday and we would be in and out . Fast forward 6 hours and we are still waiting . That wasn't even the worst of it there was nobody at the reception desk all the time we were there and nobody in sight . I actually seen more police officers than doctors and nurses. Only time I seen doctors and nurses is when they went for coffee or for a chat . We eventually walked out . As a tax payer it is embarrassing how bad time management is at south shields hospital is and whinging about being understaffed when you aren't helping yourselfs .

  7. Review titled Outstanding care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a very positive experience in this outpatients dept. First , I was greeted by very efficient and friendly reception staff. I was very early and the consultant actually saw me straight away, probably cutting short his lunch break . The consultation was excellent and I felt reassured by the outcome . The nurse was very approachable and helpful too. The department was bright, tidy and spotless . I’m very grateful to all the staff who made this anxious patient calmer and who went out of their way to provide excellent care . Thank you!

Having visited AandE recently on a referral from my GP I found the service to be both professional and efficient. You here many tales of long waiting, run down service etc, but found South Shields Hospital excellent in both the Staff and treatment I received.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Eve Oakley - Posted on 21 January 2024

After going to a&e was treated as an outpatient in sdec, admitted to eau, then to ward 3. Every single person, including medical staff, domestics and kitchen staff involved in my care were fantastic. The nurses literally never stopped yet always had lovely things to say. I'm so, so grateful and can not praise highly enough of this hospital.

  10. Review titled Caring Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Rita Oliver - Posted on 13 October 2023

recently had personal experience of ambulance, A&E, day unit, emergency assessment ward, ward 10 as well as x ray and scans. All staff were equally caring and pleasant. Witnessed some very difficult patients but staff were very courteous and caring as well as remaining professional at all times. Meals were delicious so congratulations to catering staff for binning the reputation of awful hospital food. Well done staff at South Tyneside. Keep up the good work. You deserve medals and don’t get your just rewards but are appreciated by the people you look after.
