Review titled Terrible
Rated 1 star out of 5

On 4/10/24 at the antenatal clinic in South Shields. My wife had an appointment for 10am, we ended up leaving hospital at 12pm. Maybe they had staff that night have called in sick? But no apologies, no explanations. What's worse is the female Doctor who had to give the consultation didn't want to answer any of our questions about our child and responded to my questions saying "are you a medic!". I really rate most the NHS and understand the strain they're on but for a Doctor to answer my questions about our unborn child with "are you a medic!" is unacceptable no matter what the circumstances. An embarrassment to our town.

I attended the maternity department at South Tyneside general hospital for an ultrasound scan. My appointment was on time and conducted very professionally. The receptionist was polite and helpful and the two lady staff members who carried out my scan were ultimately professional, respectful and reassuring. Superb service from all. Many thanks!!!

First time at this hospital, I came for a review with a Consultant after having my op at another hospital. From entering, the lady Volunteer, the Receptionist, the lady who did my x-rays, the HCA and the Consultant could not have been more friendly. I do so wish I could name the Consultant, what a gent and an absolute legend in his field, I don’t think he will ever know how very grateful I am to him. Thank you one and all.

Foot surgery. Can't thank and praise the staff enough, from my surgeon to the anaesthetist, nurses and domestics the care, compassion and friendliness was second to none. Every department was amazing. I appreciate every single member of staff who helped during my stay. Thank you so much

Rang 111 for my partner as he had teeth taken out from south sheilds hospital and his face swelled up 111 advised to go to hospital as he was feeling unwell when we arrived the gp in minor injuries was extremely unhelpful. His attitude was not good and I understand his is not a dentist but he did not even ask if he was feeling unwell or anything just said go to sunderland hospital as there is no dentist on site here and what was worse a little child before us was sick and when we walked In the room there was sick all over the floor no attempted to hide it or even clean this up just sat us down in between the sick. He provided him self with a mask but did not offer us one I think this is a totall disgrace.

Review titled Ridiculous
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I took my mam to a and e on a Saturday. Thinking it was gonna be busy and we'd be there all night . Turns out only 3 people were there so we thought we'd be about 2 or 3 hours at the most . Got seen quickly by triage who was a lovely lady and she even mentioned it quiet for a Saturday and we would be in and out . Fast forward 6 hours and we are still waiting . That wasn't even the worst of it there was nobody at the reception desk all the time we were there and nobody in sight . I actually seen more police officers than doctors and nurses. Only time I seen doctors and nurses is when they went for coffee or for a chat . We eventually walked out . As a tax payer it is embarrassing how bad time management is at south shields hospital is and whinging about being understaffed when you aren't helping yourselfs .

Review titled Outstanding care
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a very positive experience in this outpatients dept. First , I was greeted by very efficient and friendly reception staff. I was very early and the consultant actually saw me straight away, probably cutting short his lunch break . The consultation was excellent and I felt reassured by the outcome . The nurse was very approachable and helpful too. The department was bright, tidy and spotless . I’m very grateful to all the staff who made this anxious patient calmer and who went out of their way to provide excellent care . Thank you!
