  2. Review titled Best service, ever.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Alan Ray - Posted on 13 May 2023

After having several heart attacks, I was admitted onto AEU ward, really busy ward. The staff there, from the top to the bottom worked tirelessly from morning and throughout the night. I then had to stay on the ward until a bed could be found in Sunderland as I needed a stent fitted. I was there for a week, before being transferred to Sunderland Royal where I stayed for 10 days before being transferred to James Cook hospital as I needed a triple bypass. All three hospitals gave above and beyond care. I could not fault our NHS service. Had it not been for the Doctors and nurses at Southtyneside hospital, I would not be writing this as they saved my life. I will be forever grateful for those who did their part in this. Thank you

I did not want to call for an ambulance, but could not get to my car. The ambulance crew were impeccable in every detail, and on entrance to the hospital from reception to doctors nurses were professional and friendly in every way. Thank you so much for my care.

  4. Review titled Fantastic service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I unfortunately had to attend A and E due to a fall. The staff are absolutely amazing and the care they gave was beyond exemplary. The nurse who treated me, x Ray staff and the receptionists showed real concern and had a great attitude. No one wants to go to hospital, especially A and E but the staffs attitude, professionalism and caring nature made it a pleasant visit. I can not stress enough how amazing they all are. Thank you NHS, your staff are brilliant.

  5. Review titled Lack of care

Rated 1 star out of 5

Went to A&E as advised by 111 staff due to the level of pain due to an ongoing issue which my normal GP is investigating. No care taken, no investigation to find the route cause. Nothing. I was then offered codeine which I declined due to previous experience with codeine causing me more pain and discomfort and asked for an alternative as paracetamol had not been sufficient. I was given no alternative and basically told to go away. Still in pain, still unsure of the cause and told to speak again to my GP on Monday to get an ultrasound and a camera done, which if I'm not mistaken is usually performed...wait for it...a hospital? Every visit to this hospital is more painful than the last and usually a waste of time as they have 0 interest in caring for you as a patient or listen to your concerns. It worries me that I was only offered codeine and the doctor I seen wasn't able to provide an alternative? There are many alternatives to codeine and to be ignored when you express your issues with taking a medication is just completely unacceptable.
