The nurses were absolutely amazing, the doctor we saw on the other hand was rude, obnoxious and ableist. We visited for a gyny appointment for my 20 year old autistic daughter. We thought we were going for an examination but it was clearly a consultation regarding contraception which was not the issue we had the appointment for. The doctor was very forceful with her words and lots of questions, which overwhelmed my daughter, when I explained that my daughter is autistic she asked if she should speak slowly and proceeded to speak to my 20 year old daughter like she was 5. My daughter became overwhelmed and in tears, I explained once again and attempted to calm my daughter, during which time the doctor was still being rude, banging on the desk, throwing questions and generally talking to me about my daughter as though she wasn't there. The doctor also made a statement on how 'strange' we were acting and she didn't know why (even though I'd explained what was happening). The nurse that was with the doctor was lovely and did what she could to help soften the doctors obnoxious manner, it was clear to see she was embarrassed. I do not expect to be treated in this way anywhere least of all by a profession in a hospital. Maybe more education is needed on dealing with autism and mental health effected patiants. Am absolutely disgusted with the tone and manner in which this doctor conducted themselves.

The ward staff and physios on the wards are arrogant, rude and totally uncaring and will not listen to valid concerns. Its all about getting rid of people even of they place them in a position where they are likely to be returned to hospital. Many staff do not speak adequate English in order to properly communicate with patients who have hearing and sight impairment. Total lack of communication between different departments and other hospitals resulting in poor care and frustrated carers.

My baby was admitted to SCBU at birth when he had respiratory problems and was premature. It was the scariest and most traumatic time of our life’s as our baby was very poorly however, the care and treatment he received was amazing. Not only did they save his life and care for him they also were an amazing support to us. Every member of staff were attentive, caring, compassionate and very competent. We felt so confident that he was in the best place he could be receiving the treatment he needs.

Surgeon was really good and care good till I left surgery, basically had partial removal of kidney in June this year, told will have to go back every 6 months for blood and CT scans, been chasing last 3 weeks for letter and confirmed appointment, no one answers phones at this hospital, now told that I need bloods done urgent as I need to have CT scan ? Told lady had no letter or anything, now can't even book a blood test till end of December then more waiting for CT scan then see surgeon, also sent another patients details for an appointment while I was sitting to be seen that day, obviously need someone to sort out who contacts patients for appointments and stop me keep chasing them,

I brought my husband to see to see a consultant in the Heart and Chest Department 20/06/2023. This consultant was absolutely brilliant, caring and totally professional. She has prescribed morphine for life and explained everything to us. She is by far the best and nicest consultant we have seen ever and over the years we have seen many from all different departments. Thank you.

I stayed on M B 2before and after a c section for 6 days (baby was in Special care baby unit) the treatment I received from admission to leaving was amazing. The very busy staff were attentive- caring- emphatic and competent. They supported me and my partner through a very traumatic time as our baby was in special care baby unit and my physical care was also top class. Every member of staff including the cleaners, receptionists and catering staff were polite and friendly. I felt very confident in the ability of all of the medical staff and can’t thank them enough for the care they gave me.

After seeing the consultant I had to have my ears microsuctioned. I don’t know the nurses name but she was the most friendly person I have ever met. She talked me through the procedure and was chatting to me like an old friend. I came out feeling better (ear wise) but also better for having met such a lovely lady.

I went for an ENT appointment a couple weeks back and was told to have an open appointment with them in case of a flare-up for the next 6 months. I have had a bad flare up but no one was answering the phones. I had to go down to the hospital to get an appointment booked but got pushed to the secretaries and told that they will call me. I have heard nothing and someone is actually ignoring my calls and ending the calls. I have no other way to get through to them and I can't leave work to go back down there. I am at risk of loosing my job due to how ill I am and am frankly shocked by the hospital itself.

8th - 12th May 2023. I was admitted to the Stroke Department as an emergency patient and can say that the care I received was excellent in every way from the emergency team to the cleaners and everyone in between. Thank you so much everyone.
