  1. Review titled Compassionate and Caring

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Camran Ahilan - Posted on 24 March 2024

All staff on A and E were hugely understanding and accommodating, I felt terrible for being there and wasting important time but I was reassured by all staff that nothing was too much trouble. One of the male nurses on the ward was very kind and there was also a young lad porter in a red t shirt who was incredibly sound- I cannot thank all the staff here enough and I am sorry for any problems/trouble caused as I know how busy it was and how essential the staff are

  2. Review titled Thanks so much for great care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Tracey M - Posted on 06 April 2024

Please convey my thanks to the surgical, nursing, anaesthetic and the operation department practitioner team who looked after me so well on 4 March when I went in for my gallbladder surgery at Southmead Hospital. I was very nervous and put at ease with laughs and banter. It did me the world of good! I would also like to pass on my thanks to the staff on ward 7b (not a gastro/surgical ward, but they welcomed me and were very kind nonetheless) who took care of me overnight. I have recovered well, despite a recent scare which appears to be something totally unrelated and coincidental, and is being investigated.

I would like to thank all the staff for performing all the necessary interventions, for not keeping me waiting, for their continuous smile, for caring as if I was in a private hospital, for being realistic, and for taking the time to do so. Right diagnosis and right treatment! It is very important to know that you are with the right doctors and nurses to feel safe and comfortable. Thank you so much 🙏

  4. Review titled A thank you

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mike James - Posted on 16 February 2024

Your Review: On Wednesday 7th February 2024 I attended Cardiology at Gate 19 for a Angiogram. This was my first ever visit to a hospital as a patient in my 79 years . I want take this opportunity to say 'Thank You' to all the staff who looked after me and put me at ease. From the moment I was greeted and taken into the ward I felt cared for and looked after. I was told exactly what was going to happen, the staff were very knowledgeable and were able to answer all my many questions with a smile. Then I was taken to the theatre and met the team who again put me at ease whist buzzing around me, connecting me up and settled me down ready for the procedure. Everything appeared to go to plan, there was no fuss just a very professional working environment. I felt no pain or discomfort and was very relaxed at the end of it. 48 hours after the event and every thing was fine, with no issues and no pain or discomfort. I know people are quick to judge the NHS in these difficult times, but from my experience I think the workers at the coal face like those I've mentioned and all Doctors, Nurses and Ambulance crews do an amazing job and their effort should be reflected in their salary. Thank You, Michael James

I felt very confident that I would be properly cared for. We are very fortunate to have such a modern hospital with superb medical and support teams - thank you.

  7. Review titled Great Service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Bridget Bignell - Posted on 30 January 2024

I was really anxious about this appointment but when I got there, the staff were so friendly and lovely really put me at ease. After my two scans, which were done swiftly, carefully, I then saw a doctor, who talked me through the results and next steps. All in all a very good service.

  8. Review titled Parking Chaos

Rated 3 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 January 2024

Unfortunately I have the need to visit the hospital 2/3 times a week. I have a blue badge. These past few weeks have been awful with no parking available which has left me missing or late for appointments and has left me extremely anxious and upset. Unfortunately there are no bus routes for me to utilise and I do not qualify for hospital transport as I work. However an Uber each way 3 times a week is not viable on my salary. Unfortunately I need to continue to endure this chaos moving forward as I have no choice than to attend multiple times a week. Something needs to be done to ensure those with disabilities can access the services without this level of stress. I am not in a position to park my car off site and walk 15 minutes.. overall more parking is needed, but failing that, more need to be changed to disabled parking

Dear patient I am sorry to hear of your experience with parking.. Please accept our apology for what can be a very frustrating experience. Due to ongoing necessary building of more clinics on site, we are finding that parking spaces are becoming more restricted. These clinics really are a huge commitment to patient care by North Bristol NHS Trust. As our hospital is getting busier with more patients coming for appointments, there will always be a delay in finding a parking space. The parking team have a duty to ensure everyone can park where parking is available. There are certain times of the day when this becomes a huge task. We will always give priority to patients with mobility issues and special clinical needs. Please bear with us while we go through the necessary development of our hospital. 10. Review titled Friendly efficient staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mel Cooper - Posted on 19 January 2024

First the downside. I had to change wards 4 times in as many days after surgery. Usettling. Second. Every member of the numerous staff that assisted me were friendly & efficient. I would like to praise unreservedly the 2 orderlies, 1 night 1 day, located in my ward, bed 34a, 7b, level 3. I am prevented to name them, but they were outstanding in their professionalism in dealing with 2 very difficult patients at the same time still caring for 3 others in the ward. Absolutey impressive.

Dear Mel Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I am sorry to read that you had a number of ward changes whilst you were with us. It can be necessary to move patient around the wards to help facilitate taking patients from theatres and the emergency department. Ward move decisions are not taken lightly but we do appreciate that it can be very unsettling. It is pleasing to hear that you also had a positive experience on those wards and I will ensure that the wider teams hear your kind words. Best wishes Leanne Malpas PALS and Complaints Manager
