    The most incredible lovely midwives who support mother led childbirth. I loved every single one of the midwives I saw throughout my pregnancy starting with the Blue team then moving to the homebirth team. Each one made me feel supported and listened to. I never thought I could have such a positive homebirth experience with my first baby but everything worked out. The relationship between my doula and the midwives was wonderful to see. I had huge concerns around the pushing phase of birth as I’d seen so many videos of women being shouted at to push that baby out now. But my lovely midwives allowed me to take my time and rest when I needed to and listened to my contractions. They helped me in to the best positions and coached me through the crowning so wonderfully I had zero tearing. They supported after the birth allowing me the time and comfort I needed before helping me to bed. I couldn’t be more grateful to them.

    A colorectal cancer patient since 2008. I have just had my last colonoscopy at 70 and thrilled to have successful results. The Sunday mobile unit endescopy staff, doctor and lovely receptionist made me feel at ease. Everything was well organised and clean. Thank you colorectal team for all your care and incredible hard work over the last 15 years. I wish you all luck for the future.

    I had an appointment at the allergy clinic. Waiting area was clean and bright. All the staff were friendly and caring. Ready to make me feel relaxed and smiling enjoying their work. The consultant I saw went above and beyond to help me discover my allergies. Explained my results and then offered help with past allergic reactions to medications. No talking down in scientific language, just plain and simple in layman terms. From start to finish the level of care was exemplary. Thanks to all of you for a fantastic service. You're a credit to your profession and the hospital.

    Attended the A&E department with my mother who had had a fall and injured her wrist.From the lady on reception to the lady who put her cast on, the staff were caring and just lovely.The doctor put her at ease straight away, she was so nervous and anxious but he soon had her laughing and was so professional and caring.The ladies in the plaster room were lovely and put her at ease while they were manipulating her wrist. The department was extremely busy but the care and attention she recieved was great.Thank you.

    Brought in by ambulance with query spinal cord compression. Sat nearly 5 hrs, no pain control nor fluids offered. Was in severe pain and very tearful No accessible seating so laid on floor which nurses found acceptable. Seriously unpleasant attitudes from some nurses, disinterested and actively failing in Duty of Care. Appeared to see me as a 'problem patient's for expressing I was in pain. At least 2 nurses I would never want to meet again. Later I had great care when moved from main a and e, but that horrible first 5 hours leaves me never wanting to come to southmead again. I gave breast cancer, however have completely lost faith in this hospital. Sad and badly run place.

    Just wanted to say a big thank you to the nurses in the colposcopy clinic. They were so friendly and reassuring and explained everything really clearly. I felt at ease straight away and the procedure was quick and painless!

    Waited 8 hours in a noisy corridor for a bed, up against a burning hot window, an uncomfortable chair and opposite a busy staff room. Was told at 18.00 that I had to have whatever was left after the whole ward had had there pickings from the food trolley. There was nothing left that looked edible so had to go and buy myself something from Costa coffee. Nutritional value obviously not a thin g here. I'm unable to lift my arms, was offered paracetamol as pain relief. As if that's going to cut a raging myalgia. Nurse just walked out of door ignoring my pain score of 9. Not only that I can't actually get the tablets from my hands to my mouth. If you ever find yourself anywhere near ward 8a I would run 100 miles the opposite way.

    I couldn't have asked for a better experience being supported by the Minor Injuries Team - staff were competent and kind reaffirming that it was a good thing I had come in. They were comprehensive undertaking a few different tests just to make sure. I walked out with a prescription in hand and felt very supported. All in all I was there for just over 2 hours and seen by 2 different individuals not including the consultation nurse and reception staff at the front. Really pleased with the support that I received.

    From A&E to ward 34 swift competent and friendly treatment. Day nurses excellent in terms of approach and treatment of my husband. Consultants gave full and clear reports of medical treatment throughout which was very much appreciated

    Don’t come into A&E at night … you will be largely ignored even if in excruciating pain. No observations for 1 & half hours after arrival, filthy room, urine sample left in sink from another patient , even paramedics horrified
