I was nervous about this procedure on 14/10/24 but everything was clearly explained and all the clinicians were kind and reassuring. I cannot praise this team enough; thank you so much!

Review titled Excellent efficient service
Rated 5 stars out of 5

Needed a blood test. Swiftqueue booking system was excellent - lots of appointments and easy to book and rearrange if needed. Also provided reminders. St Albans city hospital - easy to park. Free parking for up to 30 mins. Pathology signposted well/easy to fine. Online check in easy to use, huge screen letting you know where to go. But there is also someone in person taking check ins and someone ready to help with the online machines if you need it. Incredibly efficient service. I got seen within 2-3 mins of checking in! Nurse was lovely too! Especially loved the touches of having pictures of staff and patient’s dogs and cats to help calm you whilst having your bloods taken. What a lovely supportive service!!!

Review titled Disappointed
Rated 2 stars out of 5

I’m writing this review after my gynaecology app in St Albans Hospital I went there reasonably healthy / and now I’m at home, in pain, bleeding and feeling sick. Will need to book app with my GP tomorrow to sort my self out. My appointment at clinic was just after lunch time. How do I know it? Leftover bits of food was seen on the floor right by the Consultant table and chair when I was asked to sit. I was not aware that iodine will be used- leaflet I was given prior appointment mentioned ‘liquid’. I was imagining- some sort of saline?? Not that iodine stains - it burns / in fact I still feel burning sensation now-5 hours after the appointment and I do bleed now Tampon soaked with iodine was inserted in my vagina- apparently for ‘cleaning’ Don’t know how it can be justified- feels just like cruelty to me. I did mentioned to consultant that I was treated for skin condition and still not feeling right. Bleeding started after appointment and still continues. I have to explain to those who not aware - we are talking here about vaginal skin condition and vaginal bleeding from broken /burned skin, not my arm or finger. I left with pain and was feeling sick all the way home Very disappointed and hurt

Review titled Exemplary service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Hilary keough - Posted on 30 August 2024
I had an appointment at the blood clinic yesterday. It was easy to park and had a 30minute grace period which was fabulous as I have had enough of parking apps. I was straight into the clinic and seen within three minutes. My nurse was kind, professional , quick and efficient. When I said I had reactions to micropore she got me an elastic bandage. Which was comfortable and worked. It is never comfortable having blood taken, but I don’t think it could have been handled better. My appointment was at 2.20 . I would have liked to mention my nurse but the site said no review would be accepted if it included a name.

Review titled Just very lovely people

I have just had my last visit to the warfarin clinic and I am very sad. They have looked after me brilliantly for the last 32 years. My GP has switched me to a new medication that does not require INR tests. I will miss my visits to the clinic. I always had a laugh

Review titled St Albans fracture clinic
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 17 July 2024
Terrible experience, We were referred to the clinic due to the urgent nature of the condition but clinic refused to accept the referral that came from the A&E, though the A&E said this matter should be seen within the next 7 days. The fracture clinic advised we call our GP to be the referred to different clinic . when we called our GP, we they told us the clinic we are being referred to will take 6-8 weeks to be seen and given the nature of the injury and the urgency it needs to be seen. we must be seen by the fracture clinic who deal with urgent cases. When we called back to the clinic, they refused to listen and proceeded to hang up the phone mid conversation. this is a very poor service and a poor way to treat people that need urgent care. They need to remember that people calling this service are venerable and should not be neglected like this. currently there is a patient who needs needs just an urgent consultation and they were refused though being referred by two departments. this is utter neglect......

Had my second partial knee replacement op on 19th June and everything was so well organised, had my op in the morning and was home by 8 15pm same day, was put in a lovely side room in Del a mare ward with such lovely staff the sister put me at ease and the nurses were amazing so kind and caring, the theatre staff were the kindest people and I felt very safe and almost relaxed! The lovely young man who looked after me in recovery was so friendly and gentle! It was an almost nice experience because of all these lovely people, thank you to my surgeon too for my knew knees now without pain it’s heaven, many thanks to you all! Even the after care has been so good with never waiting long for my Appointments which was good!

Review titled Incredibly kind care
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Shirley Ferrie - Posted on 14 June 2024
Although I was incredibly nervous the team settled me in and did their best to make me calm. I was told every step of the way what was happening both by the consultant and anaesthetician. After being wheeled down the anaesthesia staff actually had me laughing, they were wonderful. Both the recovery team and the staff on the ward (Becketts) could not have done more. Amazing care

Review titled Blood tests
Rated 4 stars out of 5
by Amanda Heller - Posted on 04 June 2024
Seen straight away for my appointment. Very clear instructions about logging in and where to go. Lovely phlebotomist, made me feel at ease. She reassured me that they do their best to accommodate every patient. Next time I will use the 30 minute free parking and I feel reassured that if my blood test is urgent I will be seen quickly.
