Review titled Poor speed of service delivery
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Rishalan Moodley - Posted on 07 April 2025
overall services from emergency dept including sacu were really slow. no value for people’s time, kept me waiting sacu for 3-4 hours and ed15 hours for an ultrasound scan! Told me to coming in for 9am for that. That said ED initial medical management was good. But the surgical pathway is really poor, not fit for current purposes and has not evolved to meet the needs of patients . As an NHS employee - extremely disappointed

Review titled Missing orthopaedic,s

Sent for MRI scan on lower back which was completed within 20 minutes. Sent to a waiting area where I stood for 2 hours unable to sit because of pain. Was approached by a hospital employee to be told the man behind desk had not read my notes correctly and I was in the wrong part of the building. I was sent to the correct floor and was told the orthopaedic surgeons have a long waiting time. After 3 hours standing was told my scan was being looked at by someone at St Georges hospital and I will be informed of the results. After another 2 hours standing I went to find someone for some information and was told they still have not heard from anyone about my condition {which is extremely painful sciatica}. I was informed they might ring me if physio or injections were needed, so I left after standing for 7 hours, in pain and having nothing resolved. What a desperate situation the hospital is in if this is the level of there care. I do hope I never have to return and sit in the same room with patients going through that same situation all day again.

Review titled Excellent service
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Mike Collings - Posted on 13 March 2025
(I had to tick the 'don't know' box for department as X-ray is not listed). However, staff in general could not have been more helpful. When we entered the hospital and were talking among ourselves about how to get to the X-ray department an NHS worker, completely unprompted, gave us directions. My son has Down's syndrome with a severe learning disability and becomes very anxious about hospital visits. When I explained this to the X-ray receptionists they immediately priorities him to lessen the wait. The person who did the X-ray also went out of his way to keep my son relaxed. Thankyou so much St Helier Hospital!

Review titled Great practice

I was admitted twice last week to A & E, once by emergency ambulance, and cannot fault the care I received. Yes it took time but much of this was waiting for blood results for instance or going to X-ray. No stone was left unturned and the staff were excellent in an extremely busy department. Thank you.

Review titled Brilliant audiology department

My father (who is completely reliant on his aids) had a broken hearing aid that he was told to send to St Helier to get it repaired. He thought he would have a long wait, and struggle during this time. However he was so pleased as he posted it on Monday and received it back by post on Thursday. He is so appreciative of the fast turn around as it means he is not cut off from socialising for nearly as long as he feared. Thank you so much everyone that works in this department!

Attended Dermatology clinic today for skin issue removal, my experience again of this hospital is so professional in the the way they perform their duties the surgeon performed the operation with 2 able assistants in a most professional manner placing me at ease. I believe the NHS is simply the best.

We decided to choose St Helier for the birth of our first child after hearing such positive reviews from friends. The big day finally came in December 2024 and we can honestly say we received an excellent service. Every single midwife was brilliant and we cannot thank them enough for the amazing work they do. Thank you again for everything!

I found the consultant to be very understanding and happy to give clear explanations regarding the procedure and findings. Her team were very professional and caring. The procedure was carried out to give minimum discomfort. This was especially important as I had had an unpleasant experience with this procedure elsewhere a few years ago.

Review titled Poor prescription system
Rated 1 star out of 5

I visited a Rosehill Clinic (staff and service were great there) and was prescribed a simple medication to the on-site pharmacy. At the pharmacy I was told there was a 2 1/2 hour wait and my prescription could not be transferred to my usual pharmacy. I went back to the clinic to see if they could re-prescribe and they said they can only use the on-site pharmacy, so I left the hospital without my prescription. An insane system that mounts huge pressure on the pharmacy. No idea why it can't be different but seems like a massive flaw in the system and very inefficient - feel sorry for both the staff and people waiting for hours in line.

Review titled Excellent Care & Caring Staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Bob - Posted on 13 October 2024
Accompanied my mother in law for an appt at fracture clinic. The attention she received from the medical staff in both the orthopaedic and x-Ray departments was first class. The consultant, nurses and orthopaedic technicians were friendly, gave the right amount of information without being condescending, and were just so pleasant yet professional in approach. A very positive experience all round.
