Review titled Great practice
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Amelie - Posted on 27 September 2024
I have gave birth through a planned c section in September and I could not thank enough the staff for explaining all the procedures and being organised like they were, I was a bit reluctant at first but I would definitely recommend a great experience I had from all the staff across the board

Review titled Outstanding practice and support

I would like to thank everyone on the maternity ward for the support you give me when I ended up with an emergency c section from a cord prolapse, you was all so calm, knew what you needed to do acted fast and got my baby out safely also reassuring me explaining what was happening and also supporting me knowing my partner wasn’t there due to him not getting there in time. Also the after care has been amazing and both me and baby are home recovering. You all should be very proud of yourself as we know it could have been a completely different story if you didn’t act fast.

I wanted to express my gratefulness to the staff, nurses and consultant I was with during my colposcopy appointment. They were all so lovely and so empathetic to the process and any nerves I had during the procedure. They made me feel as comfortable and in the know as possible and thank you all so much.

Review titled Outstanding care provided
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Pauline Turner - Posted on 12 July 2024
I was on ward 62 for Hysterectomy. My surgeon Dr winters is so open friendly. The anesthetist put me at ease All the people in theater was amazing. Going back onto my ward, I was taken care of all night by a very lovely kind caring young woman she had a scouse accent (unsure of name). Nothing was to much trouble. All the nursing staff listen and explain everything. The physiotherapist who came to see me provided great tips, they was open and friendly. Every team member I encountered from cleaners, housekeepers,HCA,nurses,Dr's are all amazing. You couldn't pay for better care!

I had an appointment in the endoscopy department for 2 procedures. The whole process was fast, efficient and even more importantly, every member of staff had an excellent and empathetic manner. So impressed!

Review titled Excellent service

Was so impressed by the staff from the very start of my treatment, to the end. The nurses, and consultant were amazing. I can’t praise highly enough the skills they demonstrated or how personable every staff member was, which has to include the reception staff. I was made to feel relaxed and absolutely cared for. The care and concern for my whole welfare was outstanding, as was the concern for my dignity. Amazing work by the gynaecology dept (colposcopy) over my three visits. Would reward each and every one of them. For a hospital visit St Marys is a visit made as relaxed as possible, and provides excellent facilities. .

Review titled Poor care from start to finish
Rated 1 star out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2024
Referred as urgent 2 week wait to rule out cancer. Prior to this there was never any urgency to be seen. Recommended to have hysterocopy and biopsy. Despite requesting many time why this was being done I never got straight answer until day of surgery where they said the worry was from a scan done months before. No one could answer why it wasn’t an issue months ago but now is. Then going for the procedure you have to wear a grown and wear nothing else underneath. You are then made to walk through the ward across a public corridor and then asked to sit in a waiting room with male and female members of staff walking in and out is extremely undignified. I felt awful and would never want anyone to experience that. If you must undress have a room near the operating theatre, don’t make people walk nude with only a gown on through a ward, public corridor and then wait in an area where people are walking in and out! It’s appalling!! After care wasn’t great. Left for hours on a ward asking to go, told to keep waiting, then one nurse simply said was fine to go. No information on aftercare, what to expect, who to call if there’s an issue. Unfortunately I did experience problems and find to ring round different places to find support only to be then told I needed to go all the way to wythenshaw. When I arrived it was a packed waiting area with seats crammed together worse than on a Ryanair flight. Then after seeing nurses I was told it was a 4-6 hours wait. No appointments could be made and I was expected to sit and wait. I have childcare issues and work. If I’d have been warned of this I wouldn’t have gone as I need to do the school run. I was told someone would call me back and no one has. Made numerous calls as to what I need to do and no one’s getting back to me. It’s poor service and needs to be changed. I have attended emergency gynaecology at another hospital in the past which is massively different and better organised with appointments. The whole experience of gynaecology department has been poor and I would not recommend anyone to go attend here.
