Bad back injury, waited ages while they X ray other injuries on other people which were things like leg etc which could be less serious than a badly damaged back could have been.

Review titled Terrific secondary cardiac rehab
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 15 March 2023
Following a heart attack and an emergency stent placement, the care team recommended that I participate in the cardio secondary risk management program. This includes a 6 week two days in the Gym program and two afternoon education sessions (holistic: food, meds, stress etc). Absolutely excellent program. Without this "on a plate for you" Gym program it is unlikely that I would have got back to being active very quickly. The team that coaches you (perhaps back) into being active is made of exceptionally able and caring staff (cardiac nurses, physiotherapists, exercise specialists etc). It is very individual and you are led through a series of exercise including stretches, resistance training and cardio that is appropriate to your level of heart fitness and medications. You do your exercises as a group, but you have individual levels e.g. your resistance band will reflect your muscle capability or your cardio reps/sets will change with time (you aren't competing) ... so that by the end you are able to independently manage your own exercise routine. In my case there were noticeable improvements in several of the measurable parameters. But that is the not the most important thing. The more important thing is that I became more confident that I could independently exercise - and not be unduly worried and anxious about "troubling" my heart. The rules of the review are that I am not allowed to name or identify staff. In this case that is sad. I thank each and end every member of team that helped me to recover. I am already missing the Gym sessions. I encourage anyone that is referred to the program to grab and run with the opportunity: it will, in my opinion, improve your life.

Review titled Caring staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5
by Sara - Posted on 22 February 2023
As a cardiology day case I was very impressed by the caring, clearly over stretched , staff in this day unit . The doctor on the unit was excellent , from taking the time to explain the procedure to being mindful of my dignity during the procedure .Most of the nursing staff are caring and recognise you as a person rather then a bed number . The whole team should be commended for running an efficient and caring unit .

Review titled Super reassuring and attentive staff
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I had a gastroscopy today and I chose to not have sedation. I was so impressed by the teamwork from the staff during the procedure, as well as the very attentive and caring interactions with all the staff in the department from the beginning til the end of the appointment. I felt safe and very well looked after, the communication from the doctors and nurses was clear and informative. Endoscopy's are never 'nice' but very necessary, I just want to thank the whole department for making my experience as stress free as possible. Thank you.

Review titled Never use the Birth Reflections Service
Rated 2 stars out of 5
by Anonymous - Posted on 06 February 2023
I have twice been talked into using the Birth Reflections service and each time I came away regretting the complete waste of time. You'd be better off doing almost anything else for yourself - going for a run, having coffee with a friend, taking a nap, seeing a movie etc. For the first session a few years ago, the midwife sat in front of an iPad and just read out a list of times and events. She had not prepared for the session and added no value or advice. For the most recent session, the midwife was initially helpful but then contradicted advice I had been given by the community midwife and the official NHS guidelines (which have subsequently been reconfirmed). In doing so she created a lot of unnecessary stress and effort for me during my pregnancy and meant I wasted even more of my time. Please don't offer this service unless the staff are properly trained and can actually provide proper advice and guidance.

My gp referred me to see a cardiology consultant for suspective enlarged heart back in August 2022 and I have heard nothing. Tried phoning many times but no answer. This has made this whole experience more stressful and frustrating for me and my family.

Review titled Thank you very much
Rated 5 stars out of 5

I was booked in for a Colonoscopy and was so nervous, it was my first time. Although I was expecting for this to be done in Endoscopy I was directed to the Urology Centre. The whole team were so friendly, kind and reassuring. A very special mention to the gentleman who greeted me and went through all the pre procedure tests and questions. He really did make me feel calm and happy. An absolute asset to the team. And he makes a lovely cup of tea! The procedure was quick and painless. Thank you to everyone. From start to finish the whole team we’re kind and caring and made a very nervous lady feel at ease.
