Rated 5 stars out of 5

I saw a wonderful breast consultant who had a great manner, was reassuring and extremely thorough. All examinations and tests were carried out on the same day with very little waiting time and immediate results.

  2. Review titled Outstanding level of care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My Dad arrived at accident and emergency via blue light ambulance,I was kept informed by the doctor of the seriousness of my father's condition and the likely outcome which didn't look good. The honesty and level of care was outstanding from all the attentive staff.when he was transferred from a and e to another part of the department the level of care and compassion continued this care continued right through the night into the early hours when sadly my father passed away with diginity.I can not praise all the staff highly enough for there tentative nature, compassion, hard work and above time which they gave in very demanding circumstances.Thank you.

  5. Review titled Great care

My 92 year old husband was taken by ambulance to St Richards after suffering a severe seizure due to historic brain injuries, and kept in for two nights. In spite of being a busy weekend, his care and subsequent treatments were superb. Thank you to wonderful paramedics and all those who looked after him. I am so grateful.

  6. Review titled Humble experience - Thanks for your help

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Mona Birnbaum - Posted on 09 January 2024

I was looked after in A&E and the next morning on the Emergency floor. It was the start of the junior doctor strike. My case was not as serious as others so I had to wait long hours. However, compared to what the doctors and nurses had to deliver in their 12-14 hours shifts, my waiting felt like nothing. I am very grateful for everyone's professional conduct, the empathy they showed in such stressful times, the occasional smiles and offers to have something to drink or eat. The NHS staff on the ground working their socks off and we should praise them more often incl. pay rises and employing more.

I was sent to St Richards by my GP a few days before Christmas for treatment. I was admitted to Petworth ward, where, I was placed in a side ward and attended by the most wonderful kind and considerate people. Nothing was too much trouble. Excellent choice of food, and beautifully prepared. My stay included the Christmas holiday, Thank you St Richards and in particular Petworth ward.

  8. Review titled Great staff…… But….

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Cat - Posted on 14 November 2023

Staff as is usual with the NHS are brilliant in very difficult times. A couple of things that would make it better: The A&E section for those waiting to be seen. Oh dear this is in a shockingly bad state. Dirty, rubbish everywhere, floors filthy , toilets dirty, tatty walls, vending machine was ok but only took cash which I didn’t have. Needs a major renovation and modernisation. One of the most depressing places I’ve ever had to wait 7+ hours in. Sort it out St Richards!!!

Dear Cat Thank you for your post and it was good to hear you felt that staff were brilliant despite difficult times in the NHS. I am sorry to hear that you found the A&E department to be dirty, in a bad state and you were unable to use the vending machine. 9. Review titled A waste of time

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Syeda Begum - Posted on 18 November 2023

I arrived at the hospital at 5:45pm, it took an hour and half to see a nurse and then we were waiting for 4 hours to see a doctor. I asked the receptionist how long it would be to see a doctor and they said I had to wait another 5 hours which was unacceptable so then and I asked her if it was worth the wait and she responded in such a rude manner which then I left the hospital. I didn’t get an apology or anything. Next time I will be going Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth as they actually care about their patients and take full responsibility when there is any sort of problems. I do not recommend St Richard's Hospital to anyone. Its a waste of a trip and time.

  10. Review titled Thank you!

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 November 2023

Unfortunately within three weeks of relocating to the area I needed to visit A&E and ultimately stay at St Richard’s overnight. I cannot thank all of the staff enough for the care they gave during my stay. The wait in A&E after triage was long, (around 7 hours) but once seen by the doctor at 6am and once departments opened later that morning, I was diagnosed and in surgery by mid afternoon. I can honestly say I feel that the treatment I would have received in my previous hospital would not have been as quick and thorough. Thank you again to everyone I dealt with, you all really put me at ease and are a credit to the NHS :)
