  4. Review titled Pals dies not work

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 04 June 2024

After two failed discharges and many care problems I contacted PALS. The first letter was sent in October 2023, when no reply received I contacted again and resent all correspondence. I was told that I would get a reply in 60 days. When chased again told it would be 28 May. Mmmm, not yet received. Is it really worth complaining, thought it would help change things for other patients. Not worth the stress.

  5. Review titled Amazing

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Julie Rutter - Posted on 23 October 2023

On arrival to the pre admission unit,I mentioned my anxiety was high and that I wanted my husband to stay with me. But this was not allowed. The nurses reassured me that they were there to look after me, and everything would be ok. Even the staff in theatre were amazing. I have been to hospitals elsewhere and the service provided was shocking. But I am so glad that I was seen and operated on at St.Richards Hospital. I will not hesitate in recommending my friends to come to the hospital if ever they needed to. Once recovered from this operation I will be returning to have another operation on my right knee.

  6. Review titled Non smoking site?

Neither professional nor pleasant to walk past members of the public and patients smoking outside the main reception entrance to the hospital. What would matron say?

  7. Review titled Great medical and nursing team

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Sheila Sharpe - Posted on 16 September 2023

I came on a visit from Yorkshire, Sept 2023. Tripped fell and fractured my hip. I was admitted to A&E on a very busy and hot Friday. The Drs and nursing staff were magnificent. It was ascertained that I had fractured my hip and was admitted. I had new hip replacement on Sunday morning. I cannot praise the staff enough for the care and attention I received during my stay at St Richard’s. From the surgeons, consultants, anaesthetist, Drs and nursing staff on MiddletonWard and from the physios and occupational therapy teams I received the best of care. They all worked so well together for the benefit of the patient. I cannot praise you enough! I returned to Yorkshire a week later grateful that I’d been in the right place at a traumatic time. Thank you one and all!

  8. Review titled Wonderful Staff

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by LokiDoki - Posted on 11 September 2023

My mother was taken to the Discharge Ward where she stayed whilst we found her a new home to go to. The staff were brilliant, helping us wherever they could. Where they couldn't help, it was the system which made it difficult rather that their failing. I sometimes felt I was really being pushed by the discharge team but I couldn't fault the very personable ward manager or any of the team. They understood how important it was me that it was the right home for my Mum. My Mum has dementia and has cooperation issues which could make her very rude/hurtful. I was so impressed when the nurse came to find me to ensure I was alright after a particularly fractious moment and I think that summed up the whole team. It wasn't just my mother they looked after, they looked out for us as a family too. Thank you so much.

  9. Review titled Excellent Treatment

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Maryse Stanton - Posted on 25 September 2023

Went to A&E with breathing difficulties and severe congestion. My details were taken by the administration team there bearing in mind it was a Sunday. I waited about 30 minutes was called in and seen by a nurse who took blood pressure etc and booked me in to see the doctor in the hospital straight away. I only had half to wait for that and was seen by a lovely doctor who took time to listen and evaluate. There and then I was given antibiotics as I had a chest infection. I was so grateful to have been seen and the whole process was efficient. Thank you much for your care A&E staff.

  10. Review titled Nameless management, a curse

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Clive Weatherley - Posted on 13 September 2023

To the nurses, other care team individuals, Doctors and Surgeons - Brilliant, superb service, caring and engaged, thank you..thank you. To the nameless management who had me hanging around for 12 hours getting dressed and undressed twice for my operation, thanks for nothing. If it’s wasn’t for intervention of a different surgical team I would have had to wait again for a repair from another operation I had over three years ago. Again thanks to all and a shame on the management who has probably already got an excuse from their excuse playbook. I am registered disabled (severely sight impaired -blind) my wife also waited for those 12 hours and at one stage believed my operation had gone wrong through complications) fortunately a nurse contacted her and gave her reassurance. My wife could have just gone home and picked me up later. Morning surgery normally means 3 or 4 hours not 12.
