  1. Review titled Massive thanks to the accident and emergency department

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Gordon - Posted on 16 February 2023

In early evening I tripped over a very heavy parcel in an unlit hallway. The parcel stayed put but I went flying into a solid brick wall 8ft away. I realised from the pain that I was in serious trouble but managed to phone 111. That was 10 minutes of an altogether frustrating experience but at least they managed to get me a slot at St.Richards accident and emergency. Got a taxi and was seen almost immediately. The nurses and doctors were superb as nearly 5 hours dealing with complicated dislocated shoulder. That was followed up the following morning with a call from their physiotherapy department. Could not have received better treatment and service.

  2. Review titled Satisfied customer, but jargon in discharge letter

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 28 February 2023

My elderly parent reports excellent experience of care from hard working staff in cardiology through recent stay. Patient's hearing is poor so communication difficult. The discharge letter was therefore particularly important as a means to explain cause of admission and understand potential ongoing concerns. Unfortunately, the discharge letter was written with many medical abbreviations for which no explanation was given. The discharge letter provides patient (and carers) with important information and needs to be readily understood. Otherwise, our sincere thanks for all the expert care provided.

Dear patient Thank you for your lovely post about staff in cardiology and how they have been with your parent. It was good to hear. I am sorry that the letter contained medical abbreviations without an explanation and I will share this with the cardiology team for their information. Thank you once again for taking the time in contacting us as all feedback is very important. Jo Yearsley, Patient Engagement and Liaison Manager

  3. Review titled In Awe of Great Practice

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Jo Staker - Posted on 08 February 2023

I have had to bring my elderly Dad to A&E at St Richards twice in the last month after complete disinterest of his GP. Once he came in by Ambulance and the second time I brought him in myself. On both occasions the staff at St Richards have been nothing short of fabulous. All staff, nurses, doctors, porters, security and support staff. Professional, kind, reassuring, patient and lovely. Twice he has been sorted out and sent home feeling much better and very grateful. Thank you so much for all that you do and the wonderful way you do it.

  4. Review titled Audio vestibular

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Juliet clarke - Posted on 25 February 2023

Hi I came to an audio vestibular appoinment this week and I wasn’t impressed with the care I was given from a certain member of staff from the team,he refused to do the testing which was requested by a member of my care home staff for auditory processing disorder and usher syndrome, and I felt it should have been done and then we might have had the formal diagnosis.I have looked up treatment options online and it says about powerful hearing aids, cochlear implants, orientation and mobility training and I do have a visual impairment which I use a patch and a cane for and audiology tell me I have bad hearing loss

  5. Review titled Very good service

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 20 February 2023

Attended on advice of 111 concerning a fall. Suffered Delayed Shock following seeing the Triage Nurse as I awaited x-rays. Was immediately put on a trolley, heart checked, blood tests done and monitored. The staff were so caring and I had to stay in overnight, monitored regularly and x-rays carried out. I was lucky not to have broken anything. The staff work so hard and are very efficient. I felt very reassured and they send you and your GP all the test results in "Patients Know Best" for any necessary follow up. Very efficient.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I felt compelled to write something about the level of care I have received today. The staff on the Emergency Floor have been outstanding. They work under extreme pressure and still think about the patient first. Well done to everyone involved and thank you

  7. Review titled Lovely staff and quick turn around

Rated 4 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 17 January 2023

I felt compelled to write a review after attending emergency floor recently. Firstly, like others , I felt nervous about attending the hospital as the wait can be an extremly long time. However, my GP felt I needed to be looked at, so off I went. I got there around 5pm on a extremly wet cold night to see emergency ward packed. Firstly I was booked in by a lovely caring receptionist. By 5.20pm I was seen by one of the doctors who was extremly kind. By 6.15 my blood tests were taken Then I waited in waiting room. By 8pm was seen by a really kind surgeon who understood my ongoing problem and he seemed determined to help me. By 8.45 everything done and put in order. Wow and there was me fretting about going! Yes the staff are worn out , but they are cheerful and the turn around after every patient ran like clockwork. A big shout out to this dept for there hard work.

I had an(unexpected)stay of a week, starting with the emergency floor then on to Petworth Ward. I cannot praise any more highly the treatment I received from all staff throughout my stay, I will always be very grateful for everything that they did.

  10. Review titled Wonderful care

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Kathleen Maynard - Posted on 26 January 2023

I was having an endoscopy and looked after from being booked in, to discharge. The theatre experience was so reassuring, I felt very well cared for, I didn't feel the cannula being put in and woke calm and reassured in the recovery ward. The results were clearly explained to me so I wish to thank all concerned in my care. I never felt rushed despite it being a very busy department.
