  1. Review titled Outstanding care and clinical practise

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 14 January 2024

I was a day patient undergoing a denervation procedure which was complicated by my having an ICD which had to be turned off for the procedure. The care and treatment I received was exemplary from the moment I entered the department to my leaving. All staff were kind and approachable and took time to fully explain all that was involved in my care and ensured my wellbeing at all times. All clinical staff - nurses, anaesthetic staff and medical professionals ( a special thanks to the consultant) were warm and obviously highly experienced and competent. As a retired NHS nurse, I was delighted with all aspects of care which made a potentially stress inducing procedure go smoothly and efficiently. Thank you to the entire team.

  2. Review titled Lovely staff, terrible organisation

Rated 2 stars out of 5

I was booked in for a miscarriage follow up at a specific time. I planned my day around my 10am appointment here. I was there for 7 hours!!!! I left at 5pm. I was feeling well before I had to spend 7 hours waiting for my 10am appointment. I understand waiting in a&e and urgent care, however, I shouldn’t have to wait for a timed appointment. I did not plan to spend all day there and didn’t bring any food/phone charger etc as I thought I’d be out within an hour or so. Nurse and doctor were lovely but if you are given specific appointments to people it should be in a different area.

  3. Review titled Feeling heard, understood and supported.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Yemima Ndreca - Posted on 09 January 2024

I don’t usually leave any feedback but I really feel like I have to. I am still in the Hyperemis Clinic in St Thomas hospital but I am so amazed by the care provided here! The nurse/doctor that saw me and gave me the diagnosis was so understanding, showed compassion and genuily cared! I was seen quickly, they managed my symptoms and found a solution. I am hoping to leave her with a plan of action to manage my Hyperemis. I am so happy that St Thomas has this clinic and has supported me today to make me feel better, supported and understood. Thank you!

  4. Review titled Awful experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 29 December 2023

I ve arrived with the water broke to Mau unit and stayed for the caesarean to be called. I ve been lied from the very first minute I ve arrived waiting outside for 30 hours . Finally the third doctor has arrived and said that they are waiting that something bad happened with the baby to be an emergency so they can prioritise me to the theatre. It is awful to hear that from the team who suppose to help you and keep you comfortable in such painful circumstances. I feel abandoned, so disappointed about all the team how walk around and assuming that I should starv for more than 24 hours just to be ready and no one came for more than 31 hours

  5. Review titled Emergency early pregnancy unit Nurse

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 16 December 2023

I am going through my first pregnancy and I have had a scare due to some infection, fever, heavy cough shortness of breath abnormal discharge still in my first Trimester. The nurse who called me back had no empathy toward me or my concerns and clearly was annoyed with the fact that I had questions and did not do anything to reassure my worries. If this is how expectant mothers are treated by nurses at this hospital I am not feeling confident I will be looked after professionally and efficiently. People like this should not be nurses. I am appalled.

  6. Review titled The worst induction labour experience

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 31 December 2023

I’m not sure if it was just my luck, but I had an appalling experience at St Thomas Maternity, from the start of the induction, the c-section and the postnatal unit. Some of the midwives were abrupt, no sympathy & not friendly at all. I had 2 failed epidurals & was screaming with pain for two hours without painkillers. When my husband voiced his concerns they didn’t seem happy about it & kept saying you have to wait. Poor maternity service!!! I was also moved to a very hot crowded, dirty ward after the birth of my son where the staff lacked empathy & patience. Everytime I clicked the emergency buzzer, someone would come in after an hour. After being in that hospital for several days, I plan to never return as I feel scarred from the horrible experience & service I have received.

  7. Review titled Amazing care from midwives

Rated 5 stars out of 5

    by Ruth C - Posted on 28 November 2023

My 2nd child was born in home from home last week. The care I received, from induction through to delivery was excellent. I used the birthing pool which was amazing in supporting pain relief. I had a straightforward delivery and was able to go home later on the day I gave birth, which was fantastic. I felt supported, listened to and empowered throughout, and the midwives provided clear and helpful information and advice. I think the team were particularly brilliant in the context of wider midwifery staffing shortages. I hope this high quality of service does not become unsustainable due to this. Thank you to all the team on home from home.

I had a reaction to something & couldn’t breath I was scared, from the moment I call 999 the call handler was calm & then the amazing paramedics arrived 2 in a car & 2 in an ambulance all of which were calm, happy & knew what they were doing I couldn’t fault them, I only wish I had got to say thank you for their help, kindness & care, these guys deserve recognition

  9. Review titled 3 month wait for burst blood vessel treatment? Disgraceful

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Kaleda begum - Posted on 25 January 2024

My mum went to A&E because her foot had started to go green and was very painful. It got worse and worse and went darker and darker. Went to A&E at 11.30am and she didn't leave until 1am the following morning after being told they were 'discussing' what was causing this. Vascular team did not want to help her but they could. Orthopedics said it wasn't something they could help with as it was a vascular problem. Asked for pain relief which wasn't given for hours and hours after. Eventually they said It's a burst blood vessel you can stay here or come back in the morning, we will ring you, and we will proceed with surgery. My mum went home thinking she will be more comfortable there and then we would bring her back. No phone call the next day or the day after or the day after etc. Constantly ringing to find out what was going on but no help at all. 3 months on and still nothing has been done about the surgery they said could be done The Next Day. Our GP surgery has been trying to get in touch with this nasty hospital but even they can't get her seen. She is in agony. Disgusting way to treat your patients. She has an appointment booked on the 5th February 2024. Let's seen if they cancel this one like they did the last one they booked for her.

  10. Review titled People don't understand, A&E works exactly as it should.

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Sebastien Neamtu - Posted on 04 October 2023

Waiting is unpleasant, waiting while in pain is excruciating. I waited last night from 20²⁰ until 2³⁰ brought by an abdominal pain that I ignored for too long and it was a terrible experience for me. But you know what? I'm happy, all my suffering has nothing to do with the young doctors and nurses that did their job working to find out what was wrong with me while all I had to do is sit. They saw I'm in pain, they gave me painkillers, when someone had a need, they helped promptly. I felt safe under the care of these people, trained professionals and their equipments. It's a process, it's slow because there are lives at stake but not many people understand that. It saddened me to see these wonderful nurses getting questioned by selfish arogant and rude individuals with: "why do I have to wait this long?"as if they should've been treated preferably and getting insulted by low quality people. I don't know how the medical staff are in their everyday life but at work they are saints among humans, doing an amazing job. Thank you.
