  1. Review titled Little accountability, lack of basic care and humanity

Rated 1 star out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 23 January 2024

Having to ask for pain relief five times is not acceptable Patient was NBM from 7am and thus requested to be given food and drink at 5 or 6am. This was not done. Unacceptable. I could go on….there is no humanity in this level of care. I found junior members of staff failing in these basic aspects.

Ward c4 My husband received excellent end of life care whilst on this ward. The staff were all kind, caring and loving to my husband and also the family. If we were not with him, a member of staff say with him at all times. I can't thank them enough.

  3. Review titled Waiting

    by bravojn43 - Posted on 15 December 2023

Waited over an hour for an appointment for my 90-year-old wheelchair bound mother. Went and asked 3 times, given a 5 minute promise each time which didn't materialise.

  4. Review titled Waiting time and communication

    by castored36 - Posted on 21 December 2023

Running at least 1 hour late despite having a 9 am appointment. No explanation as to why, and I found the nurse rude when I enquired about the delay. Seems to be a lot of nursing/HCA staff doing very little in the department other than chatting and leaning on walls. Can’t believe this department is understaffed. Seem so inefficient and wasteful to me.

  5. Review titled Kind and helpful this time

Rated 5 stars out of 5

I am now in my 80s and having had an operation to remove a cancer a few years ago I now have regular screening to check everything is OK. Three appointments ago I was treated very roughly. As a result I chose not to attend my next appointment. The hospital called to find out why I missed it and I explained to them about my rough treatment. They said they would arrange an appointment with someone else for me. My last two appointments have been OK. In fact, the Urology Nurse Specialist I have just seen was very gentle, kind and I would like to say a very big thank you to her. I will definitely keep my next appointment.

Good morning, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent treatment with the Urology team. I am sorry to read that your initial appointment was uncomfortable with you being left feeling like you did not want to continue. I was pleased to hear that the department spoke to you about your concerns and resulted in you attending for the support you required. I will share your feedback with the Lead Nurses who will share with the wider team. They will appreciate hearing this feedback and will also reinforce the importance of gentle care. I wish you well with your ongoing treatment. Kind regards, Aoife Isherwood Patient Experience Team

  6. Review titled Waiting time at A&E

    by songthrushjb69 - Posted on 03 January 2024

We came with our toddler son recently. He had a really bad cough in the early morning, so we decided to go. When we registered, we were told to wait in the children's area, so we did. There were no other children waiting ahead of us, and we thought it wouldn't take that long. However, after waiting for nearly 2 hours, we asked at the reception about the approximate waiting time. It turns out it was a 7-hour waiting time! I mean, we do understand a lot of things, but why didn't anyone inform us about that initially? We would have tried other services. Also, the coffee machine was broken. I mean, in what times are we living? In my opinion, there is no excuse for bad service, especially in emergency services

  7. Review titled Staff so efficient and kind

Rated 5 stars out of 5

My friend had a brain hemorrhage whilst at our house and passed away later in Stepping Hill. Paramedics came so fast and took her to A & E, Resuscitation at Stepping Hill. The emergency staff there, doctors and nurses, were so kind, helpful, compassionate, and efficient with the patient, with us (her friends) and with her family. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for the amazing service they gave and their loving compassion, which helped us so much to cope with our friend's sudden passing. Thank you for all that you do.

  8. Review titled car parking

Rated 2 stars out of 5

by Anonymous - Posted on 12 December 2023

I allowed 40 minutes to park, it took over an hour of going round every parking area before I managed to squeeze in somewhere. After going to get a ticket and walking to to the other end of the hospital for my appointment which was hard as I struggle to walk a long way I way so I was very late for my appointment. there is no point on building extra facilities and departments when there is no where to part. This was 10 a.m which I wouldn't have thought was the busiest time. Parking issues should be on the agenda.

Good Morning, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I was sorry to read about the delays you incurred due to parking. Your concern was shared with the Facilities Department who provided the following response: "The Trust does have a long-standing issue with car parking capacity and we have recently approved and commenced the implementation of a new car parking strategy which will, hopefully, help improve matters. The strategy covers multiple facets of car parking, ranging from the day-to-day management of our car parks, through to our sustainability and net zero ambitions. However, the primary objective of the strategy is to improve access to our car parking facilities whilst ensuring a fair and equitable provision is made available to all our service users. You will be aware that the majority of hospitals are experiencing increased pressures as a result of significant levels of clinical activity and, unfortunately, this increase in activity places yet further demands on already stretched car parking capacity. Furthermore, in respect of the Stepping Hill Hospital site, these underlying issues are somewhat compounded as, in response to long term increases in clinical demand, the Trust is also delivering a number of building developments aimed at improving clinical outcomes through the creation of improved clinical environments. Therefore, we have a number of construction site compounds dotted around the Stepping Hill site at present which may also cause some parking issues. We apologies for the inconvenience that the current situation brings and appreciate the frustration." kind regards, Patient Experience Team

  9. Review titled Brushed off my questions

    by nashiracr56 - Posted on 24 November 2023

Waited over 1.5hrs after my appointment with the only warning being 35 minutes approx. Got to my appointment and the doctor brushed off my questions basically just said you don’t need surgery I’m not a hand specialist go to your gp. Couldn’t you have saved me my whole day and told me this over a telephone appointment?! Waste of time

  10. Review titled My son's treatment

    by stonemt58 - Posted on 16 November 2023

I contacted 111 - after pressing buttons to select different options and waiting for over 10 minutes for someone to answer the phone they triaged and said that someone from my local Out of Hours GP service would call back within 2 hours. My son's ear pain was so bad he was in tears and rolling around on the floor. I took him to Out of Hours but they said they were too busy and to go back home and wait for the call back. Ridiculous, there were 2 people in the waiting area, hardly rammed! To send an 8-yr-old home who was in so much pain. There are no walk-in clinics in Stockport so had no choice but ED. They were brilliant, the doctor listened and showed empathy. (They shouldn't have to deal with non-emergency cases that GPs should be dealing with, in my view). My son's ear drum perforated later that day. Thank you ED for helping, but Out of Hours need to improve.
