  1. Review titled I’m highly motivated to getting running again soon

    by cratergp38 - Posted on 11 December 2023

I’m a veteran mountain biker/ Walker /occasional fell runner . I was in a race in Snowdonia the OMM ,within 3 km of the end of the first of a 2 day event I fell and injured my leg. Mountain rescue advice was to get it x-rayed. Turns out I fractured the leg in 2 places. 2 days in Stepping hill in a Orthopaedic Ward. Leg plaster 2 weeks, then in air-cast for an another 2 weeks. Physiotherapist absolutely brilliant. I’m hoping to be back running/ cycling again soon. Thank god for our wonderful NHS!

  4. Review titled Lack of communication with family

    by festivityyr86 - Posted on 20 October 2023

My mum was admitted to Stepping Hill hospital at 7 am to have a cancerous tumour removed from her bowel. She was first on the list for theatre. 12 hours have now passed and despite 2 phone calls no one seems able to tell us anything about what ward she is in or how the op went. Worse still was the nonchalant response to our concerns. I've found the communication from this hospital reprehensible!

  5. Review titled Great experience

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Paul Mooney - Posted on 18 October 2023

On 16/10/23 I attended the Interventional Radiology Dept by appointment…fact is my appointment was actually for 16/11/23!.. the error was 100% down to me. However I met the most helpful senior nurse who suggested my wife and I take a walk and come back within the hour and she would do her best to see if I could have my treatment carried out. We came back within the hour and she had everything sorted out, I had the treatment carried out by the Doctor and his assistant in the unit. Those three people epitomise all that is great about the NHS, they could not have been nicer, they know who they are and I’m very grateful to all three. I would not have been able to attend in November. Thank you.

  6. Review titled The wonderful care received by my father

    by Christopher652 - Posted on 20 October 2023

In October 2023 my 89 year old father was admitted to Ward E3 in Stepping Hill Hospital with respiratory problems and a deep vein thrombosis. He was in the ward for eleven days as his condition worsened until he eventually passed away. The care he received throughout, from Doctors, Nurses and HCAs, was absolutely outstanding. Not only were they unerringly professional, they showed limitless compassion and care for him and the family members who came to visit. Nothing was too much trouble. They discussed the medical information about his increasingly complex conditions at every stage, explained complex issues in simple terms and helped us understand how his wishes would be best served. I cannot thank them enough for making a difficult experience so very positive and for giving my father such a dignified end to his life. My last thank you might seem a little strange but the cleaning staff took such pride in the ward, making sure everything was spotless and spreading a bit of humour and happiness to the patients as they worked.

First off, I am so sorry for the loss of your father but it was heartening to read about the compassionate care given to him, and you as his family, while he was under their care. 9. Review titled I feel badly let down

    by Leah90 - Posted on 31 October 2023

I am in my 70s. My GP in a phone conversation told me to phone for an ambulance to take me to hospital to have my asthma checked. They had phoned the ward, who would be waiting for me. As there was a 7-hour delay for an ambulance, a friend brought me in. I am still in A&E. No-one has asked me about my breathing or tested it. When I enquired, I was told I'd have to wait for the medical ward. No-one can tell me how much longer I'll have to wait. I've found the communication abysmal. I feel badly let down, as though no-one cares. Most of the staff are pleasant.

  10. Review titled Unplanned visit to A&E

Rated 5 stars out of 5

by Hazel - Posted on 12 October 2023

Having being advised by GP to visit A&E I was impressed with the handling of my condition as a walk in patient . I was told to follow the Urgent Care arrows which led me into the waiting room Yes there was a wait, but a busy unit with kind, considerate senior health worker and very kind considerable doctor. Both explained the treatment and possible outcomes - all good . Then with prescription in hand to pharmacy where tablets dispensed in 20 mins with full info given by pharmacist who gave time and explanation.
